Chapter 8

Argothus
Neajess was visited by Argothus the mad. Such a magnificent creature. An otherwordly
nightwalker as best as Neajess can tell, as big as Thera itself, and with seemingly
limitless power. Argothus, with his hands on the harp of Fate, decided to help
Neajess with opening a portal to the darkest of depths--Cocytus. His own agenda surely,
was involved. Neajess is too dirty to be recognized by such. During the process, a
magificent pit-fiend came through, almost killing Neajess
powerful curse, TAINT. This increases Neajess's power greatly and his enemies continue
to fear him and cower. The other day, he caused a mongoose to betray his allies and
leave them for dead at the nightwalkers, disgracing them in front of their guildmaster.
All because the mongoose saw Neajess standing at the gates. To have such wonderful power,
to instill such fear, Neajess is truly an Unhinged Monster, as the Lord of Loss considers
him.

Fear and Loss
In his speaking with the Monster at the Cathedral of Loss, Neajess was given a task to
poison the well of the followers of the Witch. Most will not even speak to him but he
found one naive enough to even invite him into the Spire headquarters. This Saerius,
a priest of Ishuli, gave Neajess his ear and his trust and seems to have disappeared
for it. Likely will be punished and cast out. This is the Monsters true power, to
create Loss for those that do not even realize he did it. He also decided to leave
a pile of excrement in the Spire library for all to know, in case this visit was kept a
secret. Although urine is what he is most familiar with, excrement was more fitting.
Blessed are the Lost.

He was asked his biggest fear. It would be failure in the eyes of the Damned. To be
cast out of even the darkest circles. However this could also bring him great infamy.
He works within this strengthen his resolve, strengthen his drive for the goals.

The Lord Rahsael revealed himself, embraced Neajess, marked Neajess. Neajess
is ecstatic. He is among the Blessed. He is treated differently now, with
the mark showing so boldly. Shopkeepers raise their prices, the prostitutes
did too. Must be something to it. The Lord did mention costs.

Poetry
Neajess has been recognized for his masterful poetry. Little do his admirers know, the
best poetry is written by wood-elves with a blade to their neck. He found one particular
poet in the wood-elf village and has been making several visits. Fear is the best muse.

Demonic Temptations
The temptations continue. Without the drink he is constantly being beckoned to kill,
hunt, lie. His teeth are becoming shaved down from all the unconscious gritting he does.
The blessing of Baalduru is strong. Akkabal is next. Neajess knows there is a price, there
is a price for everything that does not come easily, even things that do. He will need
to continue to endure. For Chaos and Freedom.

Chapter 7

Neajess has come a long way since he set off on his journey. The thoughts of his
mothers beatings and piss still haunt him. But he realizes this is what actually
free'd him. He inflicts pain, he lies, he tricks, he seduces. Sometimes when the
pain overwhelms him he shoves them deep down and drinks himself to sleep. He'll often
awake covered in blood with pieces of elf flesh still sizzling on the end of his iron
flail. He finds the smell oddly comforting, a small respite from the pain. Demonic
temptations, thoughts and words filling his mind. He makes false alliances, false
promises, his word is not his bond; always longing for a way to escape or enjoy any type
of pain by causing others to feel it. All for the sake of spreading freedom. His pact
with the pit fiends is growing. Baalduru is reaching out to him, telling him he is to
prove himself by killing more, capturing more souls. So he will.

Neajess was offered a place in the Pit. He knows the power there is great. He did not
accept it outright, however. He thinks he can get the most power all at once, to be
Chancellor of the Eternal Night, and to avoid being subjageted. Perhaps he can use the
nightwalkers to bring forth the devils from Hell. Although Narra says she will not give
him orders and cane make him Advisor, he does not believe her. Neajess values freedom
above all things. He has made his wishes known to Lord Morius. The Lord will decide.
Narra can be his Advisor.

It has been some time since started searching for monsters, to study them; since he
cried tears of blood in the Cathedral of Loss. The common theme he found in the
monsters is fear. The masses fear them, spread lies, stories of their greatness. They
don't even have to look scary, some of them have kind faces and smiles. He has returned
often to talk to the Lord of Loss, but has been confronted with silence. He believes
he must spread more Loss. So he will.

Chapter 6

Neajess is near to his first goal, the flames of Ninauurm, the first of the pit
fiends to bless him. He is near. His soul yearns for the power. He has seen
much Loss on the path. It is a burdensome path.

The pit fiends, Monsters, although few have ever seen them, all fear them. Neajess
has, at least in his visions. The common theme, they are always manifestations of
things Neajess or others fear. Clawing, beckoning, cast down to the depths of hell
but still instill fear in the living. They might not want it, or even know it, but
they are Monsters. A burden Neajess seems to have to also bear. He is constantly
alone. Constantly killing. Those that don't know him, fear him. He is infamous. Tales
of his conquests are spoken of at the Inn. He likes it, but also doesn't. A burden
he bears, a Monster created by his mother. One too many buckets of piss.

Chapter 5

Neajess uses coin, it's part of the yellow he sees. Making deals. This for that.
Anything less it would be like the water in the dam. He however dislikes it
and will try to barter when he can. Also making deals. One thing he will not
do and thinks no baron should do is hold a true bank account. Society holds things
together too strictly. No freedom. The banking system has a firm grip on society.
He holds a bank account with 1 coin in it because he knows that will cause more
harm than good to the system as maintaining the ledger with his name and place
in the vault costs the bank more than it can make from the 1 coin.

Chapter 4

Everyone around seems to need reasons for things. So Neajess tries to gives
them reasons. However inane they may be, they make perfect sense to Neajess
as incentive for other's favors.

Neajess doesn't see reason as black and white as everyone else, instead he
sees it in shades of red and yellow, a tool to his end. Red for the fire,
his heritage. Red for the blood he must spill. Yellow for the demons eyes,
the deals. He doesn't necessarily need to uphold his end for all the deals
he makes, but he does enough to get what he wants. Yellow, also, recalling
his mothers piss, her insanity. For these things, are core to his Spirit,
and exist for him, as broken as he is.

Chapter 3

Neajess heard of the Barons of Chaos. He thought this must be his path. Revival
of the old ways is a primary goal of his. Destroying the veil seems to be the
closest to bringing total chaos and freedom. He believes if the veil is thinned
enough, the magic he calls on can manifest itself to be real.

Neajess heard of the Nine Circles. He thought this must be his path. To call
on the power of the demons is to beckon their existence on the surface.

Chapter 2

Neajess thought that these images seemed impossible to grasp, even for
the smartest magi; and Neajess was dumb. The timing was impeccable,
though, he was to be off joining the Anti-Paladins guild the next day.
But today, he must avoid his mother. She did, one time, forget him in a
well for a week. "Next time I'll tie the rope around your neck!" He can
still hear her say. His Spirit still suffers at the thought of her. The
mention of her.

"Do you understand?!" - The voice proclaimed again.

"Chaos is Freedom, ya" He cried out, with as much confidence as he can muster.

Chaos.. Freedom.. Chaos.. Freedom.. he woke repeating the words.

Was this his awakening? Was it real? Was it just a dream? He had had many
dreams. But none like this. This one was.. real.. As real as a voice in the
shadows can be.

Neajess knew he was in the right place. These were omens of his fate.

Neajess understood and set off his journey, to spread freedom and chaos to the ignorant.

Chapter 1

"Awake" - The voice called from the shadows,

Neajess barely opened his eyes, "..ya?"

Neajess looked over at his demonic spellbook. Then toward the moon.

"Freedom. Absolute freedom." - The voice continued.

Random deliberate images flooded Neajess's mind:

- The releasing of the demons from the depths of hell. Only to find
the souls they were promised to feast on found sanctuary in Dis.

- The releasing and trapping of the birds, longing to free but
caught in a cage, to be released only to find they forgot how to live so,
flying in circles over a winterless land.

- The releasing of water trapped by a dam, by creating a route in which
the only access is by flowing up hill.

- The bringing down of a broken system only to find that it held the world
together, and then total antipathy to any and all destruction it brought.

- The return from the dead to find your mother pissing on your grave,
and then loving her again as your own.

"Do you understand?" - The voice proclaimed angrily.

"No, ya." Neajess responded.

The voice whispered, "Chaos."

A sense of understanding came over Neajess.

"Chaos, ya," Neajess repeated.

The images, graphic. The release, profound. The understanding, divine.

More images flooded his mind:

- He sees himself in the middle of Dis. When the demons were free'd and
the souls retreated. They found Nejess waiting for them in Dis. He feasted
on the souls, now trapped; thinking they found their escape.

- He enjoyed watching the birds wander. He knew he had free'd them from their
routine migration, though they did not comprehend it. They thought they were
trapped in the cage, but instead free'd to their demise.

-All the water had to do was muster enough energy to overcome a little hill.
It can carve canyons, it can drown villages, it can freeze and break rock.
But it can't go uphill. So much power when released, so little when controlled.
He wanted to be like the water in the river, not the dam. As all things should
be. Free.

-Spoiled meat and spoiled fountains bring destruction to entire towns. But
those villagers were free'd to hunt, find other sources of water, learned to
live on the land. Free'd by a plague.

-The mother's piss is divine. What the hell would it mean to him if she was
pissing on his grave? He knew it'd make no difference if he was dead. Symbolic?
Who cares. Maybe she thought she thought that can bring him back. In fact, she
did really, truly, believe her piss was divine.

Did he imagine these things, or did these things already exist?

They must already exist, otherwise they couldn't be so.. real.
