Arathian Azator the High Wizard of the Arcane, Initiate of the Jaguar
DescriptionYour gaze comes to fall upon a regal looking human, standing before you in an elegant but authoritative stance. Standing just average for the height of a normal man, this human is not of a muscular build, nor frail looking either. He seems young, but it is impossible to tell his age. His smooth, light colored skin has brought a timeless look to his perfect looking complexion. He bears no scars, decorative tattoos or piercings of any kind on his body, keeping his flesh pure and untarnished. His eyes are a dazzling light sky blue, with a focused look in them. Occasionally his eyes seem to flicker with a brief magical glow to them. Each movement he makes flows with a remarkable grace to it, seemingly moving as effortlessly as the wind blows. Underneath his various armors he wears intricately woven silver robes with white trim embroidered in the designs of magical runes. He wears several pieces of inexpensive and simple looking jewelry, but clearly standing out from the rest is a single piece that bears a famous house sigil on it. The pendant of note is made of silver with an unmistakable silver symbol as the centerpiece, a beastly claw of a jaguar.

RoleChapter 7 Of light and loss, remaining pure though it all Added Tue Nov 2 06:15:57 2021 at level 51:Many years passed, and Arathian's growth continued with it. From a simple farmer with some magical talent, to a full blooded Maran of the Fortress of light. Sometimes his farm seems like another lifetime ago, but he knows he will never forget why he took up the mantle of duty in the first place. There have been bloody and grim battles, wins and losses and worst of all, many of the fortress leaders leaving to the Azure fields so suddenly. He looks around the fortress and sees new blood, and hope is renewed as the light fills his home with eager squires and scribes ready to take up the mantle of duty. Arathian knows that many of the squires look to him as an example, and he is careful to make sure his actions represent his mantle of the Maran. He remains humble, and is eager to spend time with Scribes and Acolytes and learn how he can better help the two branches of light work together better as one.
Long overdue for a visit to his Goddess for guidance and comfort, Arathian has been thinking a lot about his last conversation in her aged jungle temple with his patron deity. He had carefully lived his life since he made his vows and left his home, thrust himself into duty, and took up every mantle he could so others could carry less. It was only through his goddess did he realize how important studying the concepts of Purity were to protecting his own soul from corruption and darkness. Every day since that talk, he has focused on living life in its purest form, and for him that is the drive of duty and living his life hunt by hunt, battle by battle. There was no loss for Arathian, only victory or knowledge and determination to come back and shine brighter.

RoleChapter 6 To seek the Jaguar-Confidence and Courage Added Sun Oct 3 14:52:59 2021 at level 42:Arathian grew over the last few years in his time as a Squire. Though not the deadly hunter some of his brothers and sisters were, he did not shy from battle and often left those bold enough to harm the light crawling back to the shadows to emerge another day. His guild studies were near complete now, he had not only mastered the metabolism, but he had begun to learn tricks to alter himself to fold into the dimensional pockets in the planes. With only two dimensions to study instead of three, Arathian found that often this would simplify the world in front of him and help him to watch and observe the world and its citizens, and make judgment calls few others could. A proverbial fly on the wall, Arathian was learning about his enemies, why they do what they do, gathering information on strengths, weaknesses, anything that could help him be more successful in his own duties as a Squire. His heart was heavy over the loss of the Captain and Marshall who he had grown so close to, but happy that other strong brothers and sisters took up those mantles and continued to carry the fight. As for Arathian himself, he is still haunted by the thought of his parents not sitting in their final resting place from necromancy, and remains firm on the vow he took to protect the world from the Grinning Skull Clan. Arathian knew he had learned all he could without divine guidance and faith to support him, he felt a stronger calling in his heart than he ever had before. It was time to go to the jungle ruins and learn the ways of the Jaguar, the great Spear Maidens own faithful followers.

RoleChapter 5 The growth of a humble magus Added Fri Sep 3 07:24:17 2021 at level 31:Arathian has grown in the last few years. He has grown in his guild, and he has grown in confidence and as a Squire. Strangely for a squire, his two best friends in the fortress are the Marshall and Captain. Arathian has taken it upon himself to make sure his magics are readily available to all of his brothers and sisters of the fortress, but has found himself walking with the two leaders of the fort the most. Though older and far more experienced than him. Arathian values this mentorship and friendship, as he feels he is learning the ways of the Maran from the finest Maran in the fortress. What Arathian lacks in skills in battle, as he is still learning the ways of his guild, he makes up for in sheer commitment and unyielding loyalty to show up to battle, even if just to aid his brothers and sisters in arms. He has found his magics empower those around him to a great degree, and though not the warrior some in the fortress are, he feels accepted and appreciated for the magical aid he brings to the table. He makes himself available as much as possible, as in his eyes, the needs of the Brigade far outweigh any of his own needs.
Arathian also seeks the favor of the Goddess Baerinika, but he does not feel worthy of her presence. Only the fiercest maran seem to gain her favor, and Arathian feels small compared to many of his brothers and sisters. He has dedication, courage, and a will to engage with the dark in combat, but he still feels as if he would fall short of her expectations. He still works up the confidence to one day visit his jungle ruin, and declare himself for her, but he hopes to gain more experience in combat first, win or lose, seasoning in battle and fulfilling his duties are important to him so he can do better. Many things have changed in Arathian's soul, and many have stayed the same. He still seeks out conflict with any necromancer, and he longs to find the reanimated bodies of his parents to lay them to rest. He strongly suspects that the Imperials had something to do with the desecration of their graves, but until he has proof, every necromancer is an enemy he must face until he learns the truth. Steadfast and determined, he continues to do his best to bolster the strength of the holy brigade and the fortress as a whole.

RoleChapter 4 Arathian finds his true calling, and picks up the burden Added Tue Aug 31 15:09:30 2021 at level 18:A few more months into his travels, he found himself wandering off the beaten path a little more. On a little more than chance, he spotted a Bloodoath assassin of the Empire committing murderous acts on children and young fela at Blackclaw fort. This was a turning point in Arathian's life....he had seen so much evil, suffered so much pain....there were holes in his heart of pieces of himself he had lost, and he could not tolerate seeing another in so much pain. He quickly moved to action, viciously bringing down the magics he could upon the assassin. He was so fearful he could barely grip his quarterstaff, but he still fought on. Before he knew it, he stood over the body of his foe. Those holes that were empty in his heart filled with self worth, the knowledge he had stopped a great injustice. He felt he knew now why he had lived where his parents had not. The jaguar necklace he wore seemed to glint and sparkle in the sun a little brighter. His life had been taken from him, but that did not mean it was over. He could commit what was left of himself to the service of others, each good deed filling his emptiness and sorrow with the joy and happiness of knowing he was making a difference. He struggled with the taking of life, it did weigh heavily on him, but he knew it was for a greater purpose.
In the struggles of combat he felt life in him again, the fear, the courage, the uncertainty, the drive for justice. He swore after that first battle he would dedicate the rest of his days to honoring the innocent, to fight to keep all that is holy and pure, holy and pure in the eyes of the gods and goddesses of light. He sought out refuge at the fortress of light, and after a great deal of ale, tears, and laughter, the Captain of the Brigade took a chance and allowed him in. He vowed he would not fail this new calling, as failure was a fear to him he yearned to overcome. He now lives his life day by day, experience by experience, always trying to do the right thing and better himself for his fellow man, and for every innocent out there without the ability to defend themselves. He would hunt, in victory or defeat, and he would refuse to let fear hold his hand any longer.

RoleChapter 3 Finding a small sense of worth in his sorrows Added Tue Aug 31 15:03:31 2021 at level 18:Arathian wandered for a long time, only taking breaks in his mind to read and study his only book. It was hard to distract himself from the idea that his whole life had been turned upside down, leaving him only with the distant memories of his happy life before. He was unsure what drove him and he moved city to city, but he knew he partially was always on the lookout for the necromancer that stole his parents bodies. It made him sick that their peaceful graves had been desecrated, their bodies used as flesh puppets for some dark sorcerer. His travels took him all over Thera, but never did he find a trace of them. He continued looking, searching, and learning however, and the spark of magic eventually took hold in him in a matter of months. Perhaps it was always there, or perhaps tragedy had awoken it, but he had begun to perform some small matter of spellcraft from his book alone. The spark that had taken hold was enough to earn him admittance as a novice in the guild of Transmuters. He resided in the cities after that, leaving still to search for his parents, not sure what he was looking for. He never went back home to his farm again.

RoleChapter 2 A terrible and unforeseen tragedy Added Tue Aug 31 15:00:37 2021 at level 18:Arathian was on a common run to Galadon for supplies, nothing out of the ordinary for him, flour for bread and spices. He took his time, admiring the wonders of the cities and its guilds, tossing his spare copper to the beggars and street performers. After a few hours, he began the long walk back to his farm. He had a book he had purchased on the basics of transmutation, a topic of interest to him to read on the road and in his spare time. He read, and walked, and barely paid attention to the road ahead until he smelled a horrible smell. Looking into the distance, he saw black smoke coming from his farmhouse. He rushed home, quarterstaff in hand without the slightest ounce of training to support its use. It would turn out the quarterstaff would matter not. Orcs had tore through his farm in the mid day, bold and uncommon for their kind, but the savages had done their worst. His mother and father were dead, brutally murdered and drained of blood. Devastated at losing his only loved ones in this world, Arathian broke down and wept for hours before he could finally bury the bodies out back in neat gravestones marked with their names. He took his fathers Jaguar pendant, a family heirloom and placed it around his own neck. At the time, he did not know what it meant, but in time, it would be important to him. The next night, he slept deeply in pure emotional exhaustion. The next terror awaited him when he awoke. His parents graves were empty when he went to pay his respects. Their graves were dug from the inside out, the results of a necromancer ripping them from his peaceful rest. Enraged, saddened, and devastated, he locked up the farmhouse and packed a bag for himself. He begrudgingly hit the road, leaving all he knew behind and not knowing where he was going. All he knew is he could not go home.

RoleChapter 1 A humble regal farmer of the Northern Foothills Added Tue Aug 31 14:59:17 2021 at level 18:Arathian is a simple man, from both regal and humble origins. He was born to a loving mother and father on his beloved farm in the Northern Foothills. Little is known of the exact location of his home, as he will not share its location due to his personal memories there, both good and bad. What is known is that his mother raised him as a farmer, but his father was royalty of men, an ambassador and advisor to the king of Darsylon. Because of this, Arathian is well known to the elves and a dear friend to many of them. Despite his fathers position, Arathian was raised to be compassionate, humble and charitable. His family farmed their keep, and sent anything not needed for the winter storage was donated to the orphanage at Balator. Arathian was content and happy with his quiet family driven and peaceful life. But like all stories, his was about to begin a new chapter.
