Seskavil the Legend of the Battlefield

Chapter 2

I'm going to approach Seskavil a bit more open-ended and see how this plays
out and where the saurian heritage story leads me. Few notes:

+ Seskavil has a strong disdain for magic and plans to approach the
Battleragers for guidance on how to grow strong enough to be a guiding
presence for the other Forsaken (those who have left) and the future of his
kind.

+ The world of Thera is very alien to Seskavil and social norms are going to
be difficult to adapt to. Strange actions he will approach defensively and
likely offensively if it lingers - reptiles attack first then figure out if
they should have.

+ Saurian culture is overly violent because breeding is rampant so weakness
is constantly culled. Death is just part of the Sra and Weh cycle so it is
not looked down upon by receiving or dealing it out.

+ Seskavil has a purpose and allies will be valuable but not necessary -
two-way friendship will be near impossible. It isn't something he veers away
from but just something he doesn't understand.

+ The purity of future clutches and strength given and taken for his kind is
paramount.

Chapter 1

"You don't have to leave."

Seskavil loomed in the doorway to his hovel, staring at all he had and was
reflecting on how useless it all had become. So much thought and time used on
that which blinded him - just like his clutch of which only he remained.

His mentor, the Gifted of K'sra, stood behind Seskavil in the middle of the
path. Worry overtook him and a loud sigh escaped his mouth that conveyed
wordlessly his disappointment and pain. In the eyes of the Gifted, Seskavil
was meant for more but had become troubled with knowledge not meant for
youth.

Seskavil swiped at a core support beam in the roof of his hovel that caused
it to crumble immediately. As the sound echoed through the village and the
smoke and debris billowed out around him, he took a deep breath to remember
this moment. With his heightened scent memory this would last with him
forever.

"You built our cage," Seskavil hissed with heavy disdain.

Seskavil had overheard the truth that the marshes maze-like nature that had
"protected" the saurians in Ysigrath for generations had been magical in
nature. The rest of his clutch was dead, toys for young magi to practice upon
and to deal with the tainted witches further within.

"You don't have to leave...." the Gifted repeated. He was never one for a lot
of words - so much could be said with so few.

Turning to face his mentor, Seskavil bared his teeth in a sign of aggression.
As he stepped forward, after a momentary emotionless stare he pivoted to the
side so he would pass by the Gifted as he left and became Forsaken. He hissed
loudly these last brief words to his past behind him:

"... I leave so Sra lives."

Chapter 3

Basking in the sunlight that poured through the tunnel entrance, Seskavil sat
with his eyes closed and began to meditatively take deep breaths trying to
remember...

With the smell of apricots came the voice of Azorrine, "You are going to have
a hard time."

Sharp scents of a rolling cornfield and fresh fountain water came back with
angry words from Barrlof, "Tell me, what does your kind taste like?"

The caustic aroma of iron from fresh blood came with the inquisitive Saerius
asking "Do you deny these charges?"

And the forever remaining smell of the Ysigrath swamp of old, where his past
remains he hears the words of another kin Arensra ask "Weh or Sra?"

"Ya best me before but nah this time!" Quickly opening his eyes, he could see
a young one-eyed duergar warrior across the tunnel. Shrouded in darkness, her
toothy grin with a bit of blood showed an eagerness and odd type of
admiration he didn't understand. The balance of being bathed in light while
his sparring partner was shrouded in darkness was not lost on him.

As she came out of the darkness weapons raised, Seskavil hissed softly
"Tipora, you may resssume" and the training continued.
