Odoe Giddle the Grand Mistress of Changelings
DescriptionDark curly hair obscures much of this human's face, though you can still see her blue piercing eyes as they follow you to and fro. Her lips are slightly pursed and her right hand clinched around an azure wand. Robes of silver with a deep hood cover most everything else. The robes are lined with blue silk and tied with a blue rope around her waits. Not even her feet can be seen as she walks. Various runes line the hood and trim of the robe. On her right hand, the only one visible, are similar runes that have faded from black over time. She wears no polish and her fingernails appear to be worn from manual labor.

RoleChapter 4 The Enemy Within Added Mon Jul 24 10:14:19 2017 at level 51:Odoe looked at the twisted face. Even now, devoid of life, one could see the hatred in it's frozen expression. She had spotted the assassin as she flew over the palace of the Emperor. She knew the assassin hailed from the village. He had come after her before with murderous intent. Now she would be the hunter. She flew into the palace over the corpse of the vanquisher and transformed into her pachyderm as she reached the throne room, goring the assassin as he examined the codex in his hands. The battle continued through the palace and back into the imperial lands before she reverted to her eagle and put the villager down in her furor.
He was well outfitted for war with rare armors and legendary weapons. But, she took only his coin and awaited the return of his spirit. It was a long wait and she feared an attack being an enemy of the palace herself. Finally it came and reclaimed it's earthly possessions. But, as she prepared to fly away, the spirit whispered to her.
"You'd better not fall to me". A curious thing for a spirit to say, she thought.
"Oh? Why not, spirit of a villager", she asked.
"Because I will leave you with nothing" it growled.
She had no words for the spirit at that point, but knowing the gods would soon give him a new body with which to hunt, she became enraged at the spirit's intent. She promised herself that she would make it eat those words with a helping of righteous vengeance.
And it came to pass, not long after that she, in her rage, infiltrated the village and struck the assassin as he stood beside the Destructor. The ensuing battle ended as the last with his death. Remembering his words, and knowing their sincerity, she meted out the punishment he had planned for her. One by one, she destroyed his possessions as his younger brethren tried to save them to no avail. Justice was served.
The catharsis she expected did not come. But her rage did not dissipate. In fact, it began to transform into a feeling of guilt. She felt dirty. Oh, the assassin deserved what he got, but now she was wounded not by his words, but by her own deed. This was unexpected. I've become that which I despise, she thought. Days and weeks passed, but she could not shake the feeling that she had lost something back in the village and needed help to get it back.
"Elder, I think I have learned something about the struggles of the Maran that you once mentioned to me" she confided to her friend.
"Oh, tell me more", replied Illaeth.
"In time...in time, Elder", she concluded.
She knew he could help, but was unable to tell him for fear he would be disappointed in her. Still, something lifted off of her heart and that was enough for now.

RoleChapter 3 Where the Dragons Hide Added Wed Jul 19 20:36:33 2017 at level 51:With each lair, the smell of death more pungent, the magic in the air more powerful. Now we entered the swamp and the lair of the acid spewing ancient black dragon. The terror below she was called by the halflings unwilling to be any more specific. They watched us leave the inn that morning, almost sad as if they would not be seeing us again. I found myself hoping they would as doubt crept into my mind. Our party was strong, though.
My pachyderm hide could withstand the mightiest blows, our healer thick with the Lucky Lord himself, and a skilled invoker who could lay waste to anything that didn't first beat him to a pulp. Then there was the thief. Well, he was good for a circle stab or two before he had to flee for his life. But, our warrior was strong and deft.
Through her minions we carved a path to her chest and there she was waiting. Now irate at our progress into her home. She spewed forth acid which melted and pitted the bones of those who had come before us, but our shields kept us safe and held true. The invoker blasted her, the thief's daggers tore her scales before he fled for his life, the warrior's axes left deep wounds and my tusks pierced her underbelly and slowly she weakened.
But, and this be true I swear it, as my courage swelled, I took a form I hadn't taken in years. That of the angry wombat. This seemed to startle the beast and for just a moment in time, she stared at me with hatred for my arrogance, but also a twinkle of doubt or bewilderment. I charged teeth gnashing and tore at her chest, close enough to her heart and she fell. I'd slain the ancient black dragon, the terror below, as an angry wombat. What luck that such recklessness wasn't bought with my life! As we emerge from the swamps victorious, everyone talked about the ferocity of the wombat and it's appetite for dragon flesh. It was exhilarating, but a tactic I would not employ again. I put the hide in my pack and thought about the next lair I would visit.
Where the Dragon's Hide A poem by Odoe Giddle
White for the peaks, Cold skin of the dead. Red for the blood, In a mine we shed. Black was the night, In the hot soupy swamp. Green were the trees, Where this one would romp. Lastly there's blue, Foes were many and mean. Five hides I present, To the Lord of Thirteen!

RoleChapter 2 My Friend, My Enemy Added Wed Jun 21 02:18:58 2017 at level 51:Odoe has never had many friends. So, she thought it quite special when she seemed to hit it off with a young, skilled felar warrior during her travels. She didn't think much about his status in the Imperial Army. After all, she was not keen on politics herself. They complimented each other well and would head out to new adventures as the opportunities arose. She began to trust him. And was proud as he moved up the ranks in his Army.
One day, she and a paladin from the Fortress, some other political faction she was vaguely familiar with, were taking the treasures of an evil giant inside a volcano. It was her idea, and the elf had come to aid her. Thus, when a dagger wielding drow came running into the village and the elf had told her to 'Get out!' with an urgency she had not seen in him before, she refused. She would not let him face this obvious danger alone and injured. In fact, the transformed into a massive pachyderm and met the drow with her tusks before he reached the elf. The elf joined her in battle and together they drove him off.
Not a day later, Odoe, from the sky, saw her friend, now some sort of War Master, fighting against the village. She swooped down to aid him, then saw his companion. It was the drow. He pointed to me and my friend said without emotion, 'Yes, Emperor'. With barely any hesitation, my friend gouged me with his felar claws as the Emperor came right behind him. Oboe was in shock, though she was able to transform into her pachyderm before it was too late. As they beat on her, her survival instincts kicked in and she fled bleeding.
So hurt was Odoe, that when told by her friend...he former friend, the War Master, that she was an enemy of the Empire, she shot back, 'No, the Empire is an enemy of Odoe!' She had not wanted to take sides, but now had no choice. Hunted by the imperials, she is determined to be the hunter. She has punished the War Master, but her real ire still burns for the one who took her friend. The Emperor. And she seeks vengeance.

RoleChapter 1 Odoe's Background Added Thu Jun 15 09:53:28 2017 at level 51:There was a young girl who lived on a poor farm with her poor father. Her name was Odoe. Her mother had died of pneumonia a few winters ago when Odoe was not much more than a toddler. Still, she held many memories of her beloved mother and they were all wonderful. Odoe wanted nothing more than to be a mother herself and give her child all the love that she had received. When she was ten years and six, she and her father traveled three days to the nearest town to present her for suitors as was the tradition. She was very excited. But, being so poor, she wore a dress she had made out of a burlap feed sack and her father had no dowry to encourage a potential groom. Odoe and her father came to find that this was taken as a grave social offense in the town and they were both ridiculed, beaten and struck many times with stones by the townsfolk as they ran back to their farm.
Months later, her father died from his injuries made worse by the long journey home and left Odoe badly scarred on her face so that no man would ever take her as a wife. Alone and with little else to support herself, she lived alone on the farm and made blackberry jam to sell to the passing hunters on a nearby game trail. Unfortunately, the hunters were few and those with any coins fewer.
One day as she sat, a flock of the biggest eagles she had ever seen flew over head and seemed to notice her. They began to circle, then landed. One by one they changed into people! Two humans, a two gnomes and an arial now stood before her and bade her to come with them. They had seen her farm as they flew and knew she had little to leave behind. Willing to start a new life, the allowed them to whisk her away to their home in distant Hamsah Mutaz. She joined their guild and learned their ways.
Odoe is persistent and brave. Her background has taught her to deal with fear and the unknown. She cares little for law, as she grew up without it in isolation. She likes to help others, but less so if they expect it or think they are entitled to it. A sense of humor has maintained her in rough times and she retains it. Good and evil are concepts which she has not developed in her upbringing. There is survival, and everyone strives for it. She sees people do both good and evil, whether they be an Imperial or a Scribe. She will aid or punish either based on what she sees. She does not like deception nor boastful piety.
