Porojem Stonefoot the Vanguard of the Vernal
DescriptionAn eye-catching glint emanates from this diminutive little demi- human as faint traces of light bounce upon small bits of exposed, oily skin. Although mostly covered in grime, a few layers of earthen debris and some tattered armament, unquestionably clear bulk can be distinguished via his thick and bulbous proportions. Above all, his arms and torso dont even look to fit with the size of the rest of his body. Across the bridge of his protruding snout is a broad arching scar and above, two milky white eyes. Other than the scar, nothing really stands out among his features nor armament except a minuscule leather patch upon his chest that is adorned with the emblem of a multifaceted gem with a crack down its center. At a last look..

RoleChapter 5 Origins of the Moniker. Added Wed Jul 26 09:20:29 2017 at level 35:This new forest was quiet and dark and he had wandered around it for a few days time now. In the distance he had noticed several boar- like creatures, a handful of some vicious-looking wolf-men and one tiny turtle. Even though he was warned not to stray from the path, and only observe, it was a small flicker of red in the distance that caught his eye. He snuck closer and eventually found two beautiful red flowers. As he often saw Lightfoot do, he tore off a piece and consumed it, which was not a good idea.
As he chewed it, the taste was sweet with a tiny hint of bitterness but not too bad, he thought, just as he swallowed. The affect hit him almost immediately. Painful dissonance pierced his belly and a haze clouded his vision. In the ensuing panic he lost his bearings and wandered around, desperately looking for the way out. Unfortunately he knew he had gone the wrong way when the ground beneath his feet began to squish, mar, then he heard the smash of water, followed by a terrifying sound.
From up above, a tree limb creaks, then crashing down one after another, hissing and spitting, a group of gibberlings begins their assault. Their strikes are menacing and painful, biting and scratching ferociously. In his dazed state, he stands no chance at defeating them. Just as things seemed their bleakest, He jumped forth ambushing the first and quickly dispatching the remaining gibberlings before carrying him away from the waters edge.
The brush rustled at they rushed past, northward through the trail they ran until reaching the clearing of plains. After coming to a stop, He passed along some herbs, easing the pain and relieving his vision. Youre a wonderer Porojem, but, you need to be more careful. He said. It was something that he had grown to acknowledge a very long time ago, and this incident was only more proof. In his mind, wherever his feet felt like going, often enough, that is where he would end up. Though as He pointed out, even though it may have come from him or if it was just in his the blood, hed be one of the fleet-footed himself, in time. From that moment on, Porojem thought of himself as a wanderer and took the name, Stonefoot.

RoleChapter 4 The Crimson Trail. Added Sun Jul 23 10:30:01 2017 at level 32:The blood drips quietly, slowly easing the last of lifes precious fluids from the fallen foes form. Shining blades, drenched in gore from defeated enemy as he stands over the crumpled body. The chase and skirmish was quick, back and forth, spells in the shape of missiles flying by. However, none of this could stop his axe from finding its fleshy sheath. As he removed them, they made a slurping sound and soon after he began to fillet the kill, carving steaks almost out of habit. It was a good kill, he thought.
Before long, he made another visit to the ruins of Ostalagiah and this time, he received the greeting hed hoped for. Tahren recognized the blood, still fresh upon his hands and they broke bread together before reciting the pledge. This pledge marked him, as hed long hoped for, a Village Applicant.
Days passed, then turned to weeks, but soon he ran into another familiar face, Phelzhis the Drillmaster of Battle. Theyd met only once before but after hailing him to offer congratulations, he agreed that they should meet. Laughable, is how their first meeting concluded, though not in a good way. He utterly failed to recognize the task before him, yet was determined that this place would be his home. As such, he stood back up, dusted himself off from the mental thrashing and continued his steadfast efforts. Less than a month later he achieved the goal theyd agreed upon and was given the opportunity to live within the village, though he relented that gaining the item that was so powerful as to shift the veil, was certainly no easy task.

RoleChapter 3 The Excursion. Added Fri Jul 14 12:07:52 2017 at level 24:One day while rounding over a muddy knoll, off in the distance, he saw someone. Though it was ever so faint, the outline was clear and was moving. Before long the person called out to him, in an intriguing feminine tone. Her greeting was honest and straight forward, as such, he respectfully hailed back to her and began to speak of an interesting item that she'd like to pass along. Before long, they met just before the troglodyte caverns, where she passed over an elegantly beautiful unicorn horn. It was so long and impressive that it could be used as a spear.
Because of this odd artifact, they began speaking of other interesting finds and it wasn't long before the conversation turned towards food. He could tell she was quite passionate about the subject by the way her face seemed to light up during the conversation. She excitedly beckoned him to follow along. She would show him something interesting, a secret little nook and a talent, she insisted. So, off they strode to the north, through Udgaard and east towards the trail leading through the mountain pass. It wasn't long before they found what she wished to show.
Just across the ridge-line and about to head towards the rocky wastes of the north was a small cove where the river passed by. It was quiet and somewhat secluded and a few of the norther gnomes were enjoying the day there with a picnic. She motioned to a small pole, laying amongst the grass. He immediately recognized it as a fishing pole. Lightfoot had t told him of fishing but had never really shown him but Ayia said that this place was full of the best salmon around. She showed him how to bait the pole and even a little nook where he hooked quite a whopper.
Impressive was his only thought because after just a few short casts, his rod began to dip and it happened. As he'd never caught a fish in his life, he stood there stunned for a few moments. Wile moving from his left herself for having been a good teacher. Then she leaned over and told him that sometimes there can be more around to catch but only the bread from nearby seemed to be of use in snagging them. Soon, theyd depart but hed always remember these lessons and encounter with fellow Ranger, Ayia. especially after he spotted her vanish into a garden...

RoleChapter 2 The Need for Balance. Added Fri Jul 7 21:50:51 2017 at level 16:Often when they werent actively out tracking, stalking and hunting theyd sit and speak of the adventure and reflect upon it. It was at this time that Lightfoot took it upon himself to impart his years of wisdom. Once, right after taking down a big black bear he was remind that You can share a kill with others and feed them for a day or two but if you teach a them how to hunt, then theyll never starve. Until this day, when he finds himself gutting an animal, he thinks back to that moment.
Living with Lightfoot for nearly sixty years, he picked up a lot of those lessons and often finds himself reflecting back on this kind of knowledge, having come to treasure it in everyday life. As such, he finds that due to this unconventional upbringing he also has a general zest for learning new things, mostly to satisfy his need for personal wellbeing. His interest for exploring the lands, discovering new and uncharted spaces, dangers, and intricacies is now a pillar of who he is.
Largely from this wilderness kinship, he naturally gravitated towards the nature oriented guild types, ultimately choosing the rangers and making the caves, like those of his ancestral people his own foundation. As Lightfoot would say If you hunt a large area, youre bound to miss the prey. To be effective, stalk a small area and what you miss will be small. Harkening back to this concept, hes made the wilds around Galadon his home, since its central on the continent.
Innately inquisitive, he has scouted the surrounding areas for good sources of food, water, and shelter. Finding the Kobold warrens, some forested trails and a tepid little swamp, all full of life but to his northwest, he discovered an entire forest that had been burned to ash. Upon further investigation, he linked the source back to the forest burners and their small magical devices that allowed them creation of perpetual flame.
Although he fought his way through several, they seemed to keep coming. Thats when he noticed the bevy of forest guardians standing in firm opposition and he thought about something Lightfoot had said. Happiness in life comes from a pure balance, when one has enough, without causing harm to what sustains you, he said, and now thinking on the situation it looked like the fight in this forest tipped at one time but came back to a precarious balance, one of importance.

RoleChapter 1 Originating within the Depths. Added Wed Jul 5 22:48:01 2017 at level 11:Faint dripping, a few echoes of falling pebble and stone, the jittery scrape of some beast as it pulls it's self around, all instruments in the symphony of sound found in the underground. Although he grew up living all over the devastatingly bright surface world, these sounds were his longing and his lullaby. Though, it wasn't always this way, he can't recall a time at his life that it wasn't, only that his uncle had told him when he was younger.
Obviously he knew he was different from other children, nowhere near as tall, or long, but these traits didn't manifest themselves in his mind for ages. It's said to be called the sight of innocence and every child has it, at one point in their lives or another. His uncle never told him exactly how old he was but he could tell, he could always tell, every since the beginning, and the first time they met on those plains so long ago.
Half starved, parched, and worried that the large falcons that he saw in the distance would come down and snatch him up, he trod along. This is where they met. Hours, days, he knew not how long it had been when he collapsed but he knew when his eyes opened that this man was not a threat. Maybe it was his kind demeanor or his smooth features, or maybe the pointy ears, it didn't matter for he was kind.
Where he was from or who he was didn't matter, he was called Lightfoot and he would take care of him. For many years it was the two of them. They hunted throughout the day, trekked across all sorts of terrain and territory, all the while he learned of the land, where to go, what to eat, what could sustain him, and how to defend himself, all the basics to survival. He learned that there wasn't a such thing as good and evil, there was just how one was made by nature, or so he thought.
Predators hunt their prey, just as he was shown himself, how to survive and to take what is needed to survive. Don't give up and be determined about one's own survival because others may not, and trust only what you know to be right. It were these last lessons that guides him today. If it can be felt, known, owned, earned, used and taught then it could be trusted, and if not, then it could not. Otherwise, he wouldn't be alone today, and Lightfootd still be here.
