Toqyth Ti'Kaddari the Dweller of the Wilds
DescriptionEnshrouded in dun hued robes that only partially cloak the fur and armor of this leanly muscled felar, the simple cloth has been tailored to account for his articulated ears and the curious swaying of his tail as it moves of its own accord. Vicious claws dance a muted staccato rhythm on the sun hardened leather of the belt cinched about his waist. Lambent bright golden eyes shine with a feral luminescence. Heavily furred, his features are somber yet broodingly so, as if he has a great deal on his mind. He carries himself with a natural, ambulatory grace that would readily betray his feline origins if they weren't already obvious.

RoleChapter 1 Desert Wind, Sun and Sand Added Thu Apr 20 04:48:29 2017 at level 47:As the burnished sphere of the sun casts its unrelenting gaze down upon the sprawling, almost wavelet ridden dunes, a lone, dun-garbed figure stretches its limbs and shakes sand from its weapons as it emerges from its cover. The hidden rocky hollows and rare oasis are the life's blood of those with the temerity or foolishness required to make the unforgiving sands of the wastes their home, and Toqyth would be hard-pressed to truthfully express which category he fell into. As cool winds offer some hint of respite from the days burgeoning heat and particulates of sand whisper softly as they tumble, bounce and brush over one another, the felar ranger perks his ears first this way and that, nose and whiskers shifting to and fro as he tests the air for spore, and his eyes cast about after the taletell signs of disturbance that the uninitiated often leave in their wake.
Descended from slaves and back before that, creatures created for that sole purpose, Toqyth is a child of the wilds, who fled into the wastes after escaping the docks of Hamsah, where he had been brought to be sold into a life of toil and worse still, bondage. Having already endured privation and the loss of his freedom, all it took was the finely turned legs of a scantily clad dancing girl to distract the slavers just long enough for Toqyth to gingerly lower himself into the waters, where his manacles, though still a hindrance, would make less sound, and make good upon his haphazard escape. True to his nature, he hated the waters, as much for those things that might lurk below that he couldn't see, as because it just felt intuitively wrong on some level. But captivity was by far and away the greater burden. And one he decided he could not endure.
So it was, with this simple truth in mind, that as little more than a cub, he escaped into the sprawling world beyond the confines of his imprisonment and set his paws on the path to an entirely different path. From the echoing hollows of a dark, bat-filled cavern, he made his way along unforgiving, rocky cliffs towards a mountainous region of gently sloping coppery hills in the far-off distance. Along the way he ate what he could find, whether fungi, tubers of smaller creatures, like insects and the like. Lower than a beggar in many respects he could neither afford to be overly picky or count on any laws save those that divined whether this or that creature deserved its continued existence based on whether it could fend for itself. And though there were broad swathes of days and nights where hunger, like fear gnawed at him in what seemed a tirelessly relentless pursuit, only by happenstance and purest desperation, he survived.

RoleChapter 2 Chance Encounter Added Sat Apr 22 09:59:17 2017 at level 48:It seemed predetermined that Toqyth would end up some unrealized wild creature that would eventually be one of those stories bandied back and forth across a campfire by caravan guards as they wiled away the time and sought to keep the darkness at bay. Tales of a were creature, all sandy fur, small but decidedly bloodthirsty and ferocious, striking without warning and with the kind of desperation that never knowing when or where your next meal might come from readily inspired. And while he was well on his way to turning that suposition into simple truth, fate it seemed would intervene on his behalf, and set his life's course in an entirely new direction.
From their first encounter, wherein a strangely garbed looking beggar, whom Toqyth planned to waylay out of simple necessity, first graced his ears with the term 'effendi', the felar inadvertently began the lessons that would turn him from the mostly feral animal he was devolving towards, into what some might consider an almost erudite and even cultured example of his species. And this from a man who thought to be a beggar.
As he quickly learned Barah'Ti Qaddus was anything but a beggar, and was instead a venerated whirling dervish who was a desert warrior known as a bedouin. B'Ti as he eventually allowed Toq to call him, for reasons entirely his own, saw something in the furry felar who was foolish enough to threaten him in the desert that Barah'Ti called home. Taking pity on the starving creature, the bedouin began the arduous task of instilling something of worth and usefulness in the felar, but only after visiting his head with a staff to soundly disabuse the foolish creature from ever again thinking it wise to assault a wayfarer that he knew nothing about. 'As sure a way to an untimely end as ever there will be effendi. Watch. Learn. Question.' 'If you hope to make anything of yourself in this life, learn to learn by observation. Let the trials and failures of others work for you and spare yourself unnecessary vicissitudes. Life is filled with hardship enough that only the fool courts more than is required.' It was but one of the lessons the wise bedouin would impart to him in their all too brief time together.
So by hook or crook of fate the course of Toqyth's life was changed and the lone wanderer of the wastes found one final task for himself ere his time was done.
