Kiriam the Communer of Damnation
DescriptionAt first glance you could mistake this righteous figure as a short human. Upon further inspection, however, it is aparent that his heritage has been touched upon by the planar forces of the Azure Fields. Dark chestnut skin covers his lean five and one half foot frame. From his skin an almost misty looking light blue glow emanates. Also glowing is his shiny gold-blond hair, though this glows a bright yellow aura in contrast. It is cropped short and is comprised of dense curls. His gaze is stern and almost devoid of emotion, pupiless solid golden eyes make his expression even harder to read. Though stern, there is still a subtle kindness in his discerning gaze. He would be considered handsome by human standards, and while he is small and his build lean, there is a taut hardness to the muscle that he does have. Atop his armor is a flowing blue cloak with a massive citadel embroidered in golden threading on the back. It is fastened at the shoulder by a silver brooch bearing the symbol of an open eye.

RoleChapter 4 Every step counts. Added Thu Mar 30 15:29:35 2017 at level 23:And so, he hunted. Bearing renewed focus, he sought out means to accomplish the first of his goals-tipping the scales of war in lights favor. He searched with a quickened heartbeat, his nerves dancing. Slowly he began to calm as it seemed he would never find his quarry. By luck happened upon them. Seeming to catch them unawares, he rushed to prepare the battlefield to his advantage. Summoning his adversary into a corner, he unleashed his new power upon them. The battle was over with haste, Kiriam standing above his fallen foe.
He was torn. A side of him felt elation. He had put down an enemy of innocence and dealt a blow to the darkness, part of his purpose. Yet, another side felt guilt at having so sorely taken advantage of another. It felt wrong to harm another just because he was able. It was there that he realized that this was the duality of the path that he had chosen. The defense of light and the slip into darkness were both edges of this narrow trail. He would have to walk with purpose to avoid folly. New enlightenment from the words of the Magus dawned upon upon him. With a curt nod he steeled his resolve and made his way to the Fortress of Light and pledged himself to the Maran T'arabal at it's gate.
After a missive sent on his behalf by his friend who had succeeded in their quest toward the position of Acolyte, he was contacted by the Captain of the Brigade. After a good discussion, where he learned that the Captain had endured hardships in his growing up, he was taken into the family of the Fortress. He felt inspired as his steps further trod towards his aim. He was further inspired by what he had learned from the Captain of his youth. Thaedan had let go of the pains he had felt and even had forgiven his tormentor, the man he called father. That such misfortune could have a glowing turnaround made Kiriam see that the path he sought could be walked. By being a comfort to one another, and building each other up, we can surpass any hardships that we might endure on our own. He again had found a family, and this one he did not intend to lose.

RoleChapter 3 Faith Realized. Added Wed Mar 29 18:23:08 2017 at level 21:Having found the garden Citadel, I prepared to start my vigil of prayer. I called out to the heavens for the Magus and began to wait. Barely five minutes passed before Lord Ignolmeer's Banner-Knight contacted me, asking after my quest. He came to meet me there, within the Citadel, and gave advice and council, telling a curious story about fish and the extent to which they fight against the flow of the stream. It was meant as a parable to parallel with the pull of fate, and our journey within that stream. I thanked him well, for my tutelage in the faith of the Magus had been limited previous to that. Just then the Magus Ignolmeer himself stepped into the shrine from seeming nothingness. Never before had I felt such righteous power as within his presence. At first I felt fear, a fear of being judged unworthy for any number of past failings, however slight. My tongue was slow to respond to my urging, but soon fear began to shed in place of comfort and admiration. Where first I had wondered at what was being asked, the answers began to come from within, from the things I believe true.
After more council, Magus Ignolmeer anointed me with his sacrosanct power, imbued through his mighty staff. Never have I felt so certain of my decisions as when I was touched by the divine. And yet, it made me aware too that I must examine myself to better understand my path. The cure for ignorance is study, so every day I have begun with a journey to the Magus' Library to read of fate and how to lead our brothers and sisters to betterment of ourselves and one another.
Through this I have come to realize that I must decide how I will affect my own goals. To that end I have concluded that my efforts against the tainted denizens of darkness must be aimed at tipping the scale of war in lights favor. While that can and will be done by defeating the soldiers of evil, there is no greater way to tip the scales than to make an ally of an enemy, converting them to our way. This is unlikely but should be considered of a promising candidate, such as those who show empathy.
Bettering my brothers and sisters will in turn better me, and the light's horizon is made wider still with each of us we lift up. I will listen to their pains and offer support and council, comfort them and show charity where I am able. With both sword and shield will I stand between the hordes of darkness and the children of light and try to unify the roles of both vanguard and missionary.

RoleChapter 2 A chronicle of my journey. Added Thu Mar 23 00:17:13 2017 at level 9:I know very little of my past beyond my own surname. My earliest memory is of Balator, and the orphanage where I lived. I know not if I myself were orphaned or abandoned. The result is the same in either instance, I was without a family, living within the charity of kind souls. I would not presume to ask for a more fortunate circumstance. We orphans wonted not for food. We were learned in our letters, numbers, and histories. We could sleep without fear, for Jaragh-a champion of the light- kept vigil over our wellbeing. Of course, I was different than the other children. Common folk of Thera call my kind 'Azure-Touched'. What I do know is that by some means the angelic essence of the Azure Fields is a part of my being. It makes me fundamentally different, although the other children were always quick to include me as a friend.
It was the designs of the less virtuous that took that home from me. As a child of twelve I remember a pair of duergar taking particular note of me as I walked with the other children in the streets of Balator. Jaragh was quick to escort me back to the orphanage, as he had noticed their vile stares almost as instantly as had I. It was not long before other such beings started loitering around outside, always quick to rush off when challenged, but never dispersing for long before returning to linger. Jaragh took me aside and told me that this would not stop. The malicious attention that I had garnered was owed to my heritage. They were drawn to me like murderous moths wishing to snuff my virtuous flame. For my safety and that of the others I would have to leave, lest menacing looks turn to lethal intention. The good people of the orphanage sent me to a sanctuary near the city of Voralian, where I was to begin training in the ways of a priest. For a second time I was stripped of a family. At least in this instance I knew why.
I found myself very at home in the service of the clergy, it felt proper to comfort and attend to the kindly people of Thera. Finally I was able to give back to the likes of those who had seen to my own wellbeing for so long. In worship I found that something within me stirred in reading of the Lord Ignolmeer. Unable to acknowledge why, I felt inexorably drawn to the study of his teachings. When the time had come to choose my priestly path, I reflected several times upon the wretched villans that had forced me to this place. I decided then that I would learn the ways of the shaman, and focus my life towards protecting the kindly folk of Thera. With my path chosen and wishing to hear the words of my Lord, I set off to find his Citadel shrine.
I will write down my steps on this journey, that I always may see the steps I took walking it.

RoleChapter 1 A tale of ambition, heroism, and heritage. Added Wed Mar 22 23:25:05 2017 at level 9:It all began several years ago, and far from here. From the depths of hell stirred rebellion. Seeking to free himself of his prison, the Prince of Lies marshalled his infernal forces. In their vigilance, the gods of light knew of the coming attempt. They dispatched their own servants to thwart the vile desires of Satan. The elder planetar Kasaontor was appointed to lead the dawns guard. With righteous wrath the denizens of light struck. Coordinated by the knowledge dispatched to them from the divine, lights forces attacked at the exact moment when Satan was about to breach the realm of mortals.
Demons and devils carved into the ranks of men and azure-born. As swiftly as victory seemed initially, the Lord of Hell utilized deception and turned the battle on it's head. Suddenly Kasaontor and his vanguard were surrounded by the lieutenants of hell. Sorely pressed, the day was soon to be lost for eternity. In a zealous rage of eldritch power, the witch Hecate Uthridese blasted into those surrounding the general of light. In a display well beyond the bounds of her abilities she dispatched the vile ambushers, surely saving Kasaontor and his angelic retinue. Newly unfettered, the general charged into Satan's honor guard, his righteous fury renewed by the efforts of the mortal woman. In a heroic display of martial prowess, Kasaontor defeated the Prince of Lies in single combat. As the devil fell, his immortal essence being pulled back into the pits of hell, his snakes tongue flitted in rage as he uttered a curse. Kasaontor and all of his line would ever be enemies sworn of all creatures of hell, and the clutch of Satan would slay them all. As the last motes of his infernal essence departed, the tiniest piece struck Kasaontor in the chest and dropped the hallowed creature to the ground. Rushing again to his side was the mortal woman Hecate Uthridese. The day was won, though at great cost to the forces of light.
Kasaontor began to succumb to some unknown sickness that no healer could divine. Hecate refused to leave his side and assumed responsibility of his care. No details are known of the subsequent weeks that led to the recovery of the great planetar, but from the very edge of mortality he returned. His patron then called upon him to ascend into the heavens, never again to walk the realms of men. Hecate returned to her life among mortals. And while there are many different ways that a child can come to be associated with the essence of the Azure Fields, in the case of the unborn Kiriam a much more conventional conception had been realized.
