Chapter 3

The path to becoming a man of power that shapes the ways of Thera begin with
a simple yet powerful phrase. My heart, my soul, my life for the Empire.
These words indicate ones passion for an ideal world where all beings behave
in their proper way. The way Adril believes they should. It is a small phrase
to be sure, but a phrase that begins all his aspirations in life. Adril's
talents were noticed by divine presence and he became known as the Imperial
Percussionist of Prevail. Soon all of Thera will know of his name.

Chapter 2

The journey to Galadon from Balator was long and tiring. Adril had little
coin and little to eat. Few cared to help a ragged young man with no money.
His journey first took him past the vineyards of southern Balator where the
farmers grow grapes for wine. After this he passed through the city port of
Hamsah Mu'tazz. There were many rich men and many poor in this city. None had
time for anyone without money, however. He spent very little time in the
dizzying place and continued on down the Eastern Road towards the great city
of Galadon. The journey took many days and Adril ate what meager things he
could find in the forests to the sides of the road. Eventually Adril found
himself before the gates of Galadon. Inside was a large bustling city.
Commerce, religion, the arts, everything was found here. He was dazzled at
first, but eventually found his way to the Flying Drummer Inn. Inside was the
famed Debanhar's Music Hall where Adril felt sure he would find his fame and
training. It was hard work and Adril was put to work in various tasks beyond
just singing or playing of instruments. Even fights were common. Through it
all Adril gritted his teeth and did what was needed in order to learn
everything he needed to learn if he was to raise higher and higher in rank.
There were great things to be done in the world which required great men and
he would be one of them.

Chapter 1

The world is not fair, nor will it ever be so. These are lessons that Adril
learned very early in his troubled life. Adril was born an orphan and raised
by the Knight Jaragh in Balator. Adril always felt he was better than the
other children and they all simply failed to notice because they were nothing
more than fools. He'd watch from the windows as the Imperial forces marched
through Balator on their way to conquer various cultures. He'd dream
longingly for such glory as the beat of the marching drums thrummed to the
beat of his heart. It was those sounds rhythmically chanting the glory to be
found that called to him. The unison of the foot steps marching to the beat
of the drums. The rustle of the armor and gear. The clip clapping of the
horses hooves. The trumpets blaring the total defeat of all who opposed such
a precise and orderly army. All these things combined into an irresistible
desire for Adril. Jaragh, however, did no approve of the Empire and cautioned
all the orphans sternly to stay away from them. Adril hated Jaragh for this.
Adril hated the other children who teased him when he attempted to tell
story's of glorious battle. Adril, after all, loved to talk. He even enjoyed
dancing and singing. The other children made fun of him and he often got into
fights with them which always ended in him sulking in some dark corner of the
orphanage, plotting his revenge.

To Adril, everything had a specific place, a specific order in which they
should belong. In most cases, it was where he believed things should belong,
however, and not where others thought. He followed orders, only because he
had no choice but to do so. He always dreams of being the one in control
though. Of conquering those more powerful than him and turning the tide of
the world. He knew enough to realize that the world is a cruel hateful place
and all in it are selfish creatures, himself included. If he were to ever
become more powerful he would have to leave the world he grew up in behind
and so he set out on a journey as soon as he came of age at sixteen when that
fool Jaragh wouldn't chase him back down and bring him back. So it came to be
that Adril followed the small drum in his own chest, beating in time with his
footsteps, towards the great city of Galadon.
