Chapter 7

Even as the Flame has perished in the Great Fire, the Temple is
a known entity of power. Even though only select few can see the Truth,
the Temple shall stay open even beyond my death.
I was extremely fortunate to see my life's work come to fruition
and lasting success. What happens to me thereafter is not important,
and the banshee is calling as I will Embrace the afterlife, eternally
in the Shadow of the Father. The Temple still stands open.

Me and the Eye, however, should try to manage a way to finish what the Flame
has started, the placement of the third Seal, if it pleases Father.
It would bring pleasure to me and legacy to a powerful mage.
Davarrah and Ortus found their way into the Temple, we shall see how
they may be of assistance and whether we can trust anything they say.
I highly suspect they will not speak the Truth, but Father will know their lies.

Chapter 6

In the greatness of our Father, we finally have a proper way to practice the Cult.
Many have laughed at me when I studied the ancient practice.
But my eyes were open.
Many have tried to slay me once it became known who I worship.
But my Will was strong.
Many have dismissed me when I talked to them about the Truth.
But the Temple has been reopened.
I was the first of the Pure in long Truthless ages, and not many doubt me now.
I am His Voice, and I have a Temple.

Chapter 5

With my role as the Father's Voice I have been speaking to a lot of
the promising souls of Thera, with the eye on the prize of finding
a potential Flame, the only missing piece in the puzzle of reopening
the Temple, a task for which I have diligently worked all my life.
As with all my other goals, my Will is strong and it shall be done.

Chapter 4

As Father has tasked me, I have been opening many eyes and
spreading the word of the Truth. More willing to be Pure than
I ever thought possible, probably enough for the Cult to strongly
resurrect itself. Sadly, Father seems to be preoccupied with
other matters of business lately and not answering my prayers.
Nevertheless, I am still the Hand, the Flame and the Eye
and will continue to spread the Truth and Destruction.
The Blind open their eyes, albeit a touch slowly.

Chapter 3

Father was thankfully impressed with my abilities with Destruction.
He seemed it fit to initiate me within his Cult and make my name known.
The harder part is Truth, not many are ready to be Pure.
I have managed to find two souls, however, who expressed the interest.
One did not hear of the Truth beforehand, but seemed to embrace it
fully and seemed to be living the way of the Pure for a while.
Another professed the desire to let his Will be done and seemed to
seek the Father independently of me, which is perfectly reasonable.
I have advised both to read Sacraa, and they should be well on
the way to be Pure.
What is much more interesting is that the Chancellor approached me
and seemed very keen to learn what the Father thinks of him
joining the Cult and becoming Pure. Surely he almost or completely
sees the Truth with his age. That may be a powerful addition indeed.

Chapter 2

For as long as Quarissa can remember, the big temple dominated
over Arkham, ominous and dark. No sound or person ever came out of it.
When asked on its purpose, she was told to stop speaking about it.
Only much later has she learned about the Cult and its long-forgotten adepts.
It is a shame that pure Darkness has come to pass, with no one
remembering meeting a member of the Cult of the Scarab.

Long have passed the days of embracing the true and the pure.
It is high time for the Cult to thrive, with the blind roaming
around quite freely, with the weak holding up the walls of the Fortress
in numbers that surpass any others.
I will try my best to impress Scarabaeus so that I can become an adept

Chapter 1

Growing up in a privileged Arkham family of means, Quarissa
rarely knew the harsh realities of life. It was mostly what
was for dinner next or whether there were new elves to torture
that particular day. (Her father was the primary source of such
entertainment, running the dark knight guild, bringing elves and
and varietal game to the guild halls for the amusement.)

But apparently, the guild dues were the primary source of the
family's wealth, as well as the side money for the entertainment that
was supposed to go to the guild didn't make it into the coffers.
Some guild members were somewhat concerned, and politely inquired
of Quarissa's father. Thankfully, the daughter was admiring the
gargoyles on a Barovia trip at the time and thus did not get to see
the ashes of their house until it finished burning down.

With all of her support suddenly gone, Quarissa could only
rely on her own talents from now on. She dabbled in magic
previously, but what most intrigued her is the possibility of
contact with the other-worldly beings, and bounding them to her own uses.
She went to the guild of conjuration as an apprentice, where the
guildmaster was sympathetic to the orphan's plight and she didn't even
beat Quarissa with the shovel that much. Life could have been worse, considering.

Bent on learning the tricks of conjuring and enlisting the powerful
creatures, learning how best to use them against the anatomy of
the different creatures, and providing the occasional smile of
entertainment at the beautifully smashed faces, frozen in that
gleeful stare of horror and pain is the ultimate goal.
