Melacarfina Silverhammer the Matriarch of the Spire, Justiciar of Thera
DescriptionMelacarfina looks back at you with her large oval eyes. She gazes into yours as if she can read your mind. One of her eyes is green while the other blue. Her green eye twinkles like an emerald in the noon sun while the blue sparkles like the stars in the night. No longer in her youth, you can see the age and wisdom behind her eyes. Her large curled eyelashes accent the vibrant swirling hues of her eyes. Her thin red eyebrows perfectly frame her fascinating eyes. You can barely detect small crows feet off of the corners of her eyes. Her face is thin and appears gaunt do to her high cheekbones. Her skin is very insipid. Her soft full lips are an icy pink. Her smile is playful and shows off her perfect white teeth. When she smiles, two dimples form on her cheeks, which give her an even more child-like appearance. Only a few tiny smile lines show her true age. Her long red hair cascades down her back just below her buttocks. Small white rosebuds adorn her carrion locks. The rosebuds never bloom nor wilt, symbolizing her everlasting purity and innocence. With in the center of each tiny rosebud a small gem sparkles in the light. The scent of the roses masks the odor of ale and Nankorf. Her slightly pointed ears poke out of her vivacious tresses. Her frame is small and sleek. It is hard to tell of her curvature due to her loose fitting attire. She stands at 60, an average height for a mix-breed. She moves with confidence and pride, as a great dwarven warrior would move. Various instruments have been tied together and slung across her back. A small locket around her neck glimmers in the light. You also see...

RoleChapter 8 An Abomination Added Wed Dec 1 14:16:17 2004 at level 1:"Let me see it, Elaeriellalanthalasa", King Adrianar said in a stern voice.
The princess looked up at her father, and wiped the sweat from her brow. She unfolded a woolen blanket to show the baby in her arms. Even immediately after birth, it was evident the baby did not have the look of her mother. Princess Elaeriella carefully smoothed the childs red tuff of hair and kissed her on the head.
"Its a girl, father and shes beautiful", the princess said softly.
The king glanced at the baby and quickly replied, "That is an abomination, who is the father! Was it that human merchant that has been wandering around? He is little more than a petty thief! This is most disappointing Elaeriella. We will have to get rid of it."
A single tear rolled down the Elaeriellas face as her father left the room. She grabbed a locket from her nightstand and put it around the newborns neck.
"Do not worry my child, I will not forget you. Nor will your father", she said in a soft tone.
King Adrianar returned with the dwarf Gillem Silverhammer.
In a stern tone the King said, "Give the child to Gillem. He will take it to a family in Akan." The King quickly picked the child out of Elaerillas arms and turned to Gillem, "I do appreciate your silence in this matter. Please tell the family you found the child left by the river, or something of that nature. With the wedding and coronation, the people of Darsylon would overthrow my house if they knew of Elaerillas actions. And do not worry Dwarf Silverhammer I will look very closely into sending my guards over for this favor."
Gillem nodded and quickly left. The princess hung her head low and wiped the tears from her face. She knew the baby could not stay.
King Adrianar took his hand and lifted the princesses chin, "Now my daughter, clean yourself up, you have a ball to prepare for. I believe you will be able to squeeze into your old dresses in the chest. The Emerald one will look lovely. Your fianc arrived about an hour or so ago, he will be waiting", the king said softly.
The Princess opened her mouth to say something, but her father had already left.

RoleChapter 6 Just Another Dwarf, but Never a Dwarf Added Wed Dec 1 14:24:03 2004 at level 1:Nikaulta and Farhoak the innkeeper were overjoyed to finally have a baby. To them the half-breed was like their dwarven daughter they could never have. They treated the child no different than any other dwarf child. They gave her more bottles of ale than milk, and fed her Nankorf.
As soon as Mela could walk, she began taking over her fathers job of bringing her uncle Nakut the blacksmith lunch everyday. She carried the basket full with five bowls of Nankorf all the way to the palace from her fathers Inn. She would eat and talk with him. When lunch was over, Mela would do a bit of weapons training with the Captain. She often would get caught drinking from the Kings private selection of Ale. The King would tease her and tell her next time he will throw her in the dungeon with the Deurgars.
Mela liked the dungeon. She would often look at the prisoners in their cells and ask them what they had done. The drow wouldnt speak to her much, but most others would tell their tales. She would often bring the magi dwarf gems, and from them he created roses for her. She kept them in her hair. Mela never did understand why the dwarfs disliked magic. For the magic created beautiful things, like the roses.
She learned at an early age the meaning of justice, for all of them had been put in the cells due to harming innocents. Her mother taught her the ways of the old Gods. Mela was particularly found of the tales of Bria. She believed in the ways of Justice and Mercy. She did not think it was merciful to put those in the mithril cells until they died, she would rather they be killed quickly for their actions.
Years went by, and Mela realized she was different than everyone else. She knew her family loved her dearly, but she felt uncomfortable in her own stone home. She needed to find someone more like herself.

RoleChapter 5 Meeting Rigal and Bralela Added Wed Dec 1 14:27:58 2004 at level 1:One day after having lunch with her uncle, Mela was roaming the halls of the castle and saw guests had come to Akan. She first introduced herself to Bralela and elf noble. Bralela spoke so proper, something Mela had not heard before.Mela looked at Bralela and touched her own ears. Bralela was short with the young half-breed as if she was annoyed. Mela knew that this elf would not give her the comfort she longed for. She knew she did not belong with the elves, although she was half one.
Mela then found another visitor to the palace, but this one was human. He happily greeted Mela and said he was Rigal. Rigal was a bard, but Mela had never heard of such. Mela found comfort in talking with this human, so she returned day after day to speak wit him. He taught her of this guild. He told her great stories of cities all across Thera. Mela liked the stories of Galadon, and the Blood Tribunal the most. She quizzed Rigal of the history of the Spire, and of their laws. She became obsessed with order and justice. her heart, she knew she could never be a great king for she was not a dwarf, but she could leave her mark in another way. Mela wished to be great and be immortalized in something. She found that something with in civilization. Then, Mela knew it had come time for her to leave. She heard her calling and left Akan to seek out the Spire and uphold order and justice. knew the towns protected by the Tribunal were perfect societies, with order and commerce. She knew as becoming part of such a society she would find the greatness she desired.
Her parents were saddened by when Mela told them she had to go, but they understood. They had the carver fashion Mela a simple recorder. They packed her plenty of ale and Nankof or the trip ahead.
Mela took the long trip to Galadon, and found the Bards guild. She told the Guardian that Rigal had sent her and that she would be a promising student. She was accepted into the practice, and quickly began working hard. She often thought about those in the cells of Akan and she knew she would never allow one who harmed an innocent to sit in a cell, but rather give them a blade through the heart.

RoleChapter 4 The Spire Added Wed Dec 15 04:48:11 2004 at level 41:Mela did well in her studies and advanced quickly within the guild. She traveled to the protected cities often and visited all the shops and such. She met with guards and mayors, and took time to also speak with Magistrates. She still kept much of the dwarf within her, but she found she enjoyed things that were not so typical of a dwarf. She quickly embraced magic and found it to be good. A friend she met along her journey taught her to swim, and they often traveled under the ocean. She became most fascinated with those would change their shape into animals, and often seeks them out for companions.
Melas love of the cities could not be undone. After sitting in her guild one day and hearing the tormented yells of innocents, but no magistrate about to come to aid she knew it was time to join the Spire. She sent her missive and shortly after spoke with the Provincial, Veztel. Veztel was one who could change shapes and a leader of the Spire. It was an honor for Mela to be interviewed by him. Mela had studied the cities and laws carefully and did well with her interview. Soon, she was able to meet with the Provost and was inducted into her beloved Spire. She began her watch in the Ruined City and felt great Pride to hold such an honorable position.
On her first watch, she knew this contribution to the city would allow her to achieve all her goals. She immediately began to recruit others to the Spire. Any who upheld order she would speak with. Mela thought this recruitment would be the best way to ensure civilization would live on, long after herself. She thought maybe one day someone would make runes of her story, just as the dwarves do to write their history. Runes or not, Mela knew her actions will be forever remembered for civilization will continue to flourish as it should with order and justice.

RoleChapter 3 Melas Rise and Fall within the Spire Added Sun Jan 16 12:13:30 2005 at level 51:Mela carried herself with such pride. She fought in many battles, some she won and others she did not. She had grown quickly within her guild, and one day while defending her beloved Spire, she became careless. She sang her song, When you Dont see me within town. She had always been so careful, but in the moment she let down her guard. The Dark One immediately took her badge and called her pathetic. Such a word, Pathetic. She had never been called this, but in this moment Mela thought she was pathetic. She didnt know what to do with herself.
Mela turned to Androkin, thinking she could take up shop. She was confused and lost without the Spire. She wrote a note and told the Tribunal that she would continue to be loyal to them. She hunted criminals, and even attempted taking the bone alone. After some time, she thought there was nothing she could do to correct her mistake. And then, the Dark One called to her.Mela came quickly. She knew there was trouble within the Spire, and was uncertain if she even wanted to gain back her badge. The Dark Voice told her it was time for her to enter the Spire once more. In her confusion, she hesitated and said she wasnt sure if she wanted her badge. The Lich and her spoke for sometime. They talked of Melas goals, and Mela decided she did want to return to the Spire. She will never forget that the Lich called her the Mother of the Spire. She would find later, that this was most fitting of her.
Mela advanced quickly within the ranks once again. She would do anything to make the Spire strong. She fought battles, aided the young ones, taught others of law and most of all she recruited. She was not harsh, nor light with the younger Tribunals. She enjoyed throwing in a bit of fun while on-duty, but found most didnt care for that sort of thing. She consoled her comrades and nurtured them. She had most defiantly lived up to the name Mother of the Spire.
Then, after her long dedication, Mela was finally rewarded. The Lich came to her once more. She was apprehensive at its approach, thinking she has made another mistake. Mela was quickly relieved to find, she was no longer a Magistrate but a Justiciar. She was honored and speechless. She asked the Dark One if it had any words of wisdom, and Mela was only told to not screw up.

RoleChapter 1 Justice must Prevail at All Cost Added Thu Jan 20 10:44:46 2005 at level 51:Mela doesnt understand why Lora turned, why Lora forgot herself. She knew the fire was great in Lora, but perhaps it turned her mad. Lora had become a criminal, and Mela knew what must be done. She went to the forest to fine Lora the Criminal. Lora called out for Mela the friend, the sister, but such emotions were not as powerful as Melas passion for Justice. She found the criminal and put her in a deep sleep with her songs. As Mela wept for Lora she proceeded to sing her deadly songs. She called the fear onto Lora, and it was a great fear. Mela knew then this criminal would fall. Mela then tried to speak with Lora as her sister, but Lora would not listen. Mela returned to her watch, but once again Loras anger caused her to commit another crime. Mela called out to her sister to stop this, but Lora would not listen. Once again, Mela needed to find the passion for Justice inside her, to slay her beloved sister. They battled and eventually the giant was taken down. Mela cried and cried, but her grief could not be undone. Lora then took her own life, forever it would seem. Mela found herself lost. She held the still warm corpse of Lora close to her and she wept. Only once had Lora ever allowed Mela to touch her, but now in death Mela finally could embrace the corpse. She layed the corpse slowly to the ground and placed a coin over each eye. Mela knew she would not allow this to break her, she knew she would return to the spire until her dieing breath. Mela also knew she would never be the same, for a part of her was left in the last corpse of Lora.
