Chapter 5

Hello there, old friend. It's been so long so I dont even know where to
start, or what to tell you. So many people have come and gone that I am
starting to have a hard time remembering them all. I have noticed my memory
starting to fail me lately, seems my age is catching up to me.

So many of my old friends that I used to hunt dragons with are long dead.
Seems a younger generation has taken over the thirst for adventures which has
me reminiscing about those days. Maybe I will have enough time to leave
behind my knowledge of such things before I lay down my arms and step away
from this war that has been my life for so long. Or is it wrong of me to wish
for a short time of peace before I pass on into the life after this one?

Did I ever tell you about Deaer? Perhaps I should before she slips from my
memory as well. She was a pleasant young girl with a dark secret. It is not
my place to divulge any specifics about it but she was searching for vials of
blood to cure herself of what ailed her. As a naive fool I told her there
were no way we would fail. The worst day of my life was when Lord Corrlaan
was performing the ritual with that blood and Deaer ended up possessed by a
vampiric being. I've never felt my smile slip as it did then. But worry not,
she has been freed from the wicked being and has left her mortal bonds
behind.

And before I forget. We once spoke of what could have driven me towards
serving the Light. After having words with Voralia, the Lightbringer, I
believe that perhaps it was not any particular divine being but the Light
itself showing me my path. I know no other way to explain it.

May the Light always protect you, and if we never speak again, farewell my
friend.

Chapter 4

Few things have happened since last we spoke. Perhaps I should start with the
day knowledge of a great many eggs being dispersed in Thera spread. We of the
Fortress decided to look for them before whatever possible calamity could
arise as the eggs would hatch. Myself, I found two. Having a bit of a
sweet-tooth I found one in a berry bush. Funny place, eh? But this search
actually granted me new insights, and skills one might say. One, a blessing.
Being a swimmer, I no longer give in to fear of drowning should I be on the
brink of doing so but can still push on a little further. But the other thing
I learned would prove to be a curse and a blessing, all in one. My fondness
of nature. I feel more...in tune with nature, as it were. My songs won't
harm creatures of the wild, which in most cases is a good thing. But I
mentioned curse, yes? I've noticed I can no longer bring myself to use my
voice to affect them in any way at all, not even calm them down. So when I am
beset by a beast ready to rip me apart my choice is to fight or run. And
running isn't always a good option.

This actually did prove an obstacle for me as we set out to hunt dragons.
Yes, dragons. Fear not, I did not go alone. Rydell was the one to turn me
into a dragonslayer. But with my newfound empathy for all things of the wilds
I was unable to do much to protect my brothers from certain things in a lair
of an ancient blue dragon. Ofcourse, I could leave the fighting to them and
make sure they would not succumb to their wounds and all would go well.
Anyways, we made it to the dragon queen, Tiamat, and after a great battle we
stood victorious. Glory to the Light.

Chapter 3

Hello again, friend. It has been a while, hasn't it? Much has happened but
let me start with my family, like last time. As you might have guessed, my
father is dead. No, it was not violent or unexpected in any way. There is no
stopping time. He was a lucky man to live out his life on his farm without
having to witness or even participate in battles. I am only sad he did not
live long enough to see me being known as an Acolyte of the Golden Sun. My
mother was so proud, I didn't think she would ever let go of me again. I am a
grown man, but I guess she still sees me as her little boy. Will she ever
not?

My life within the walls of the Fortress has been great, although there have
been a lot of bloodshed. We are often under siege by all manner of wicked
people but we all knew life would be like that when we made our homes there.
There are two people within our walls that I have come to spend a lot of time
with. Rydell is one. A very loving and lovable person. He has been a guiding
light to me since I first were welcomed there. The other is Tolgrumm, our
Captain. Having him at my side as the darkness close in on us and I have no
fear.

I have not yet figured out what drove me to serve the Light. What force
pulled me toward the Fortress. If it was divine guidance, whatever Lord or
Lady wanted me there has not yet made himself or herself known to me. I've
seen Lady Baerinika a few times, even shared a few words, but I feel it is
not her. She honored me as I became known as an Acolyte but I sense a
different kind of strength in her. What has guided me has a more gentle
touch. Perhaps the future will reveal the truth to me, or perhaps the Light
itself is happy with the way things are. Time will tell.

Chapter 2

Traveling the roads on my own was exciting but I payed it little mind,
something called me still. It wasnt until I reached Voralian City the tugging
grew lighter. Whatever it was, it had called me to that city. Tired after my
journey, not being used to it, I quickly found shelter and managed to find
myself a home there. But not knowing why I was there, I decided to join a
guild, to learn something while I figured out what my future had in store.
And what better guild for someone loving music that the bard guild, eh? Ah,
good times. Having a sip of ale and a recorder to play on. I've been taught
many happy tunes that suit me like a glove.

Although, playing a few tunes did not lessen the tugging at my soul, but made
it stronger again. I was compelled once again to leave the safety of my home
to see more of the world. Many strange and wonderful things did I see, and
many horrible things. Have you seen all those walking dead creatures? I am no
fighter, music is my craft. But in the marvelous ways my music can inspire
others, I often found myself standing with various companions against many a
creature lost to the darkness. And each time I did, the tugging at me were
less than when I was relaxing with some ale in a tavern or inn.

Until the day it seemed to pull me towards a place close to Voralian City, a
short journey to the northwest. An old Fortress in the mountains. What a
sight. They even welcomed me with open arms. Almost like a son finally
returning home. In that place I could feel the Light shine upon me and
whatever tugged at me seemed almost pleased. It is hard to explain but it was
the feeling I got. I am not a deeply religious man but it almost makes sense
that it was divine guidance. Someone up above wanted me to find a place
within the walls of the Fortress, wanted me to serve the Light. And I will
not complain if such a fate has been mine all along, I could not even wish
for a better.

My story is far from over but this is all I can speak of right now. Let's
wait and see what the future has in store for me.

Chapter 1

Let me tell you a little about myself. My name is Belendithas Gellantra and I
am a half-elf. My father, Tralaine, is a human farmer. He has lived his
entire life on a small farm near Tir-Talath. My mother, Baelhartha, is an elf
who, in her youth, left Darsylon. How she met my father she has never told me
but she settled down on that farm with him. And there I was born.

When I was young my life wasn't that special. I grew up as a normal farmer
boy with a few friends. There wasn't a lot of people out there and we rarely
went to Tir-Talath, and then only for trading. But there was a girl back
home, Mindrella. Oh, she had a great smile, could make your feet dance before
you even knew it.

One happy diversion from tending to the farm was playing music. Oh, I really
enjoyed my music. And that was even before I noticed how often it raised
other's spirits. It did seem strange to me though when some even claimed
listening to my music made their pain go away. They must have imagined it
all.

When I got close to becoming an adult something started tugging at me. I
could not explain it then and I can not now either, it felt almost like the
urge I had to dance when Mindrella smiled at me. But this urge had nothing to
do with dancing. It was as if a string was tied to my soul and something
pulled it eastward. I decided to leave my home, and to my surprise both my
parents gave me their blessing, although with a few tears and a lot of
demands that I take good care of myself. Like I would not? I am no fool.
