Chapter 5

Though the badge of magistrate was originaly donned out of convinience,
Keriel found that over time, the pull of the Scales has become a spiritual
shackle of sorts, though not unwelcomed one.

The direction and strength of the Spire, by all rights should have mattered
little to her quest to storm the gates of Hell and her dreams of slaying
elder devils but somehow it did. As the scheming elves and disciples
of light sought ever to warp the Tribunal towards their small minded
views, Keriel found herself ever more drawn into the inner politics.

The opportunity for Vindicatorship could not have come at a better time.
As the litteral Arm of the Law, she will take a prominent seat within
the Spire, though be unsmeared by the backdoor politics that the
Provincial is engaged it. When the position for Provost arises,
she will strike.

Chapter 4

Decades pass as the once-weak magi climed the ladders of the Tribunal.
Pomotions satisfied his hunger for fine things, while forgotten tomes
satisfied his lust for power.

Soon words spread throughout the land of a new Weaver of the Elements
who cloaked the Spire in her dark spells and chared the bones of the
savages.

But though she's spent countless nights studying the binding power of
the Scales of justice, and slayed many an elder elementals while
wandering their home planes, still the secrets to her release from
her cursed bargain eluded her.

After traveling with a few foolish adventurers of the Conjuration magics, she
pieced together a few key facts from stolen tomes (or so she thought).

Planar beings are not truely made of flesh and blood, though they may
appear so at times. And as such, they cannot be truly slayn as mortals.

Any hopes of destroying a being of the planes can only be realized
from inside the beings native plane, where its true form is manifested.

Armed with these two kernals of (assumed) wisdom, Keriel plans her
next move: breaching the gates of *Hell* itself.

Chapter 3

Of laws and politics

As she wandered the land, many approached her with offers of membership.

The Empire offered slavery to men. She crossed that one off right away.

She was unimpressed with the unwashed masses of the Refuge and was generally
unimpressed with their unchecked lusts for blood and fire (after all
if all the libraries were burned where would she find the answers she
seeked?)

The Chasm's promise of forbiden knowledge was seductive, but in the end
she was unwilling to trade her bondage to the devils of Hell for the silver
collar of the Night-beasts.

The Spire of the Tribunals seemed rather boring at first, with their
endless laws and regulations (though in some ways this sense of
ordered world was not unpleasing to her).
But in the end, she was sedduced by the comforts and trappings of power
reminding her of a former life... And the dark charms of a certain young
knight of darkness.

Chapter 2

Terrified, and shamed. She dared not return to her home. Instead
she resolved to set out as an adventurer, perhaps by learning
more of the world, and of magic, she'll be able to rid herself of
the monkey(devil) on her back.

Seettling in the large city of Hamsah, she joined the invoker's guild.
Lying about her aims and easily fooling the testing adept with
her illgotten mystical skills.

Slowly, imperceptively. The terms of her contract was defining
her thoughts and actions. A lie, a theft, a mean gesture.
Simple arrogance and greed warped bit by bit towards something
more sinister...

Chapter 1

Born daughter of some rich merchant family, she was accustomed to a life of
wealth and privilage.

Sent to the academy to learn to harness magic, and perhaps intimidate rival
houses, she was shocked to be thrust into a life where her affluence
and family name meant little in comparison to her skill, or lack thereoff,
in the magical crafts.

Laughing stock of her fellow students, and disliked by the tutors for
her haunty attitides, she was treated little better than a common
servant. Tasked with menial trival jobs.

Frustrated and humiliated, she stole the conjurer master's secret scroll.
(After all no one pays much attention to the cleaning staff)

Using the instructions from an old textbook, and the power stored
in the scroll, she summoned a lesser devil. With fear in her eyes
and reckless ambition in her heart, she signed the offered contract.

Power and skill in magic for a variety of unamed favors rendered
at a later time.

Signed in the blood of a sacrificed animal (her classmate's familiar
cat), the contract went up in a cloud of smoke.

The very next day, cantrips that have caused her much headache
flowed easily from her tongue.

Her new ease with magick was noted. The missing scroll was reported.
The conjurer master put two and two together, and she was driven from
the school. But not before the true price of her power was explained to her
the reason why that scroll had hidden away was not to horde its power
devils was the price of one's soul.
