Chapter 4

I've been arrogant lately. My rise in the empire has made me arrogant to my
role in society. I need to act more like a Shadow and Less like a blade. I've
paid for this arrogance.

I believe I will be Shadow Lord shortly, not for the title I am already. Our
current shadow lord is nothing short of pathetic and needs replaced. My
enemies fear this. Especially the Scions who have been courting me
extensively. All I want from them is to learn their weaknesses and if through
a bit of subterfuge I need to do that fine.

There are many young in the empire who are my eyes and ears in every sect.
Soon knowledge will flow from them like water and I will become even more
powerful.

I will wait for my promotion and learn to fight with less arrogance and more
tact as I should.

Chapter 3

17th of the Month of the Winter Wolf in the year 1903.

It's time for me to begin plannin for takin the leadership of the Shadow
Sect. I've seen no other who can do the job that I could be doin. It feels
like outside of that woman Eumridae the sect ain't in the best of shape.

With a new Emperor coming about I expect he'll be makin changes. I think it's
time I had frank discussions with those who have a claim to be Emperor.
Things seem more complicated now with the Dread Lord's death. I look to learn
from how our Lord will deal with this situation.

I've decided to take on studyin the way of traps. It will complement my other
skills well. Seems the dark-elf Xaro also studies these. His arrogance blinds
e mfrom being a truly successful Shadow, regardless of what he studies. But
he will have a place as we all do.

I expect much change within the Empire soon. There are many talented
individuals comin up the ranks who should inspire some fear in our enemies.

I will begin to do what should be bein done already, recruitin some young
blood to our ranks. Hopefully I can make this a priority in the sect. We need
more numbers.

Another thing on my mind is visitin the under-dark. It's been sometime since
I've been home and I feel a callin to go back. Sometime soon I'll go back and
see what I can remember of the place.

Chapter 2

The Duergar crept down the stairs softly. Morrow had with him a pair of
parchment under his arm. He settled down in the basement of the Imperial
thieves guild and spread them out over the table and took a seat.

The first parchment contained the laws of the Empire. It was time to put down
the daggers and learn his true weapon. The power of order the Empire wields.

The first three were common sense to him. Law Four may be disheartening to
some but not Morrow, the power of order must not be superseded by personal
vendetta or whatnot. The empire must maintain order in it's cities and be an
example to all.

The blood reckoning is an important tool in Morrow's eyes. An easy way to
settle arguments and whatnot without the headache of constant talking.

Law Six is good. To Morrow, insufficient donations over ample time qualifies
as breaking your oath.

Law Seven is a fine reminder that fools cannot be tolerated in the Empire.
Promote a fool and bare responsibility. The real crime in this is weakening
the empire by allowing a fool more power.

Law Eight is simple. Do nothing for, or with a Scion.

Law Nine is fitting for the wizards. They can perform their role adequately
as citizens. Their unpredictable magicks force constant supervision.

Law Ten. Morrow understands his interpretation is nothing. He must execute
the law as the Emperor and Shadow Lord deems fit.

The laws of the Shadow Sect are interesting in tandem to Morrow with Imperial
Law. He intends to follow them to the fullest.

As a Shadow their role is to be something mysterious, powerful beyond the
blade. Information and treasures to barter.

The teaching that nothing is free is paramount in importance. By helping a
blade, black or divine for nothing you harm them by not forcing them to learn
from mistakes. Citizens are more prone to remember something if they pay for
it.

The Shadow Lord needs to be a prominent figure in the sect. Running it like
his own. The current shadow lord seems to be missing, perhaps dead. Morrow
expects this duty will fall to him in the near future. He has already begun
to plan.

It's clear by the law the Shadow Sect is superior to the others, they serve
many purposes to the Sect. If their body, belongings or gold are required. A
Shadow must make use of it, with discretion.

There are times the law of the Shadow Sect must be exercised, at times in
conflict with imperial law itself. Sometimes a message must be sent to
individuals within the Empire. This should only be done to strengthen the
Empire as a whole. Fear is the sect's greatest weapon and musnt be left
unused.

Chapter 1

Morrow grew up a slave within lands under heavy Imperial control. His
childhood was that of heavy labor and harsh discipline. He never learned to
hate it as most would, it was all he knew. It was how things were. He always
felt he was just doing what he was meant to do.

It was not until he was older he began to aspire for more. Life of a slave
began to bore the boy, naturally. A couple of dark-elves had formulated a
plan to escape. It was elaborate and detailed, but they needed some muscle.
So he was brought in.

Morrow played along with this plan but immediately knew the dark-elves could
not be trusted. They had not earned their freedom. They were betraying their
place. He alerted the guards when he had the chance. He was told to play
along and they would be executed if they followed through on their plan.

The day came when the dark-elves indeed did attempt this plan. Morrow played
along and sure enough the dark-elves were caught and executed.
Morrow, later was rewarded with his freedom and worked as a trapper for the
Imperial he served. Not long after, the imperial died and he was released.

Morrow joined the local thieves guild to develop his abilities and earn a
greater place in society.

Morrow believes without Order the world would fall apart. People are too
stupid and chaotic to be trusted to rule themselves. Order is what keeps
things suitable for life.

He is a very quiet individual and only speaks when it is relevant. He is
secretive and has large ears. He is a firm believer in knowing your friends
as well as your enemies.

He is a stern believer of the empire, believing that Order can only be truly
achieved with the company of darkness. Those without a dark heart lack the
conviction to do what is required to truly maintain order.

As one would expect he has a great disdain for the Fortress. The Outlanders
are viewed as rabble to him and he does not take them seriously but as
animals. The Tribunal will never be able to do the job of the empire because
of it's policy to enlist those without proper convictions. As for the
Battleragers, they lack civility and the barbarians should not be trusted.
The Nexuns are fence sitters who hide from choosing a side in life and
require teaching on the errors in thinking.

More than anything else Morrow loathes those with no respect for Order. Those
of chaotic nature are no better than animals and should be executed. The only
hope for this world is to fall under the protection of Darkness and Order.
