Chapter 1

I've lived in the forest for most of my life, my parents died when I was
young, but I was just old enough to take care of myself. I sat in my perch
in a tree, waiting for my prey to come along, as usual this time of the day.
As I sit there thinking, I hear a rustle of leaves to my left. I get into
position, and wait for the deer to cross below my path. When it does, I
drop town on top of it, and stab it in the heart, killing it instantly, with
no pain. I dragged the body of the deer for a few miles, to a very large
tree, larger than any tree in the forest. I lay the corpse down on the roots
of the tree. Kneeling down, hands together and eyes closed, I prey to the
spirits to give this deer safe passage to the afterlife. I sat there and
waited for the voices to come, as they always do every time I pray. Though
they always speak in a different language, I could never figure out what they
translate into. The last three words though, Sqayap Izey Mila, they repeat
in something I can understand, Spirit over Body, they say. I've taken that
to heart, I've burned those words onto my arm so I would never forget them.
When I was done at the tree, I dragged the corpse back to my camp. Started up
a fire and started to cook the meat. While sitting there relaxing, I noticed
a bright light in the distance, I thought it was travelers camping here, so I
doused the fire and went to check it out. As I got closer, I noticed several
more lights turning up. The lights kept getting bigger and brighter, I got
worried because I didn't know what could do that. It was the trees! They
were burning! Walking turned into a run as I rushed towards the fires.
I noticed there were men, lots of them, they were the ones who were starting
the fires. Noticing a few of them straggling off to the side, I climbed into
a tree and headed towards them.Getting the suprise, I managed to drop down
on one of them and put my sword through his heart. I moved my sword to the
side and cut the legs of another man, dropping him to the ground quickly.
The last man managed to get a sword out and swing it at me, but I easily
pushed it away and slashed his chest open. As I watched him fall, I noticed
something on his chestplate, looks to be an Imperial symbol. I didn't have
much time to look though, for many more men were starting to rush towards me.
I knew I couldn't win, so I ran. It was easy to escape them, as they don't
know these lands as well as I. I found a mountain near the forest, and I sat
there for a while watching the forest burn, my home burn. Kneeling down,
face buried in my hands, I started sobbing. I stayed there for a few days,
watching the forest burn, and turn into wasteland. I knew there was nothing
left for me here, and I know the pain of losing my home. I set out into the
wilds, seeking a new purpose...
