Vinson Wentzell the Protector of Faith, Imperial High Priest

Chapter 6

Vinson was born the son of a devout priest and, as such, was
raised under strict guidelines. He was worked hard, kept busy
with chores, and punished harshly if anything he had his hand
in fell short of perfection. This upbringing made Vinson a
harsh, domineering figure who expects from his companions what
his father expected of him. He was not blessed with his father's
silver tongue, however, and will likely be viewed negatively by
others who cannot readily accept his arrogance and sense of
entitlement.

Chapter 5

With the Throne empty, Vinson's sense of entitlement makes
him believe he has all but officially taken his seat upon
it. So many Imperials have neglected their duties, fled the
realms entirely, or proven themselves little more than
simple-minded fools that, to his mind, there are none but
him even near worthy of becoming the next Emperor. There is
little left but the formalities.

His plans are many, but first and foremost something must
be done to return the Empire to consistent strength. The
Blood Oath must be offered to all, something Vinson is sure
the drones have let slip. Real leaders must be given seats
within the Council Chamber and, unfortunately, he believes
himself the only current council member worthy of the
position. He would fill the Council with followers of Lord
Khasotholas, men and women who understand their duties and
who seek perfection within themselves and those around them.
However, he is willing to manipulate others into his corner
by appealing to their bloodlust, greed, or desire for power.
Zanetta is but the first of many who Vinson is likely to
offer a greater role for helping him take the Throne.

Chapter 4

In Vinson's mind the Empire has grown soft and he
has never been one to tolerate such frailties. His
father never showed lenience and it is not too often
that Vinson does either. Fools have been allowed to
advance into the upper echelons and the Empire has
suffered. Morale is lowered by Blades littering the
world with their own corpses instead of those of the
Empire's enemies. Shadows wander about openly, seen
more often than not, contributing as well to the
corpse litter when the rebellion should never know
if they've come or if they've gone. Bloodoaths and
drones question their superiors or show continued
disrespect simply because they've gotten use to it
being permitted. This simply cannot be allowed to
stand for it has been the downfall of Empire's past.

The hierarchy must be respected and in order for
that to happen there must be fear of repercussions.
Fools must be demoted so that the worthy may rise.
If these fools continue to fail or are unable to
mind themselves they must be cast from the fold and
hunted for wasting the Emperor's time. A perfect
society cannot exist unless perfect citizens create
it. The Empire is far from perfect at present. It's
time for that to change.

Chapter 3

Splintered porcelain struck him in the face, introducing
him to physical agony he had never before known. His father's
doing. The man was a devout priest whose sermons often included
understanding, faith, hope, and forgiveness by day but who
psychologically and physically battered his wife and children
by night. Vinson was old enough to bear the brunt of his father's
rage and young enough to still hide under the bed, though this
latest incident made him realize that perhaps another sanctuary
would soon be needed. It was Vinson who sheltered his younger
siblings and mother, but they rarely expressed their gratitude.
They made excuses for the man and, at times, blamed Vinson even
though he never did anything to provoke the outbursts.

The public knew a very different man. A silver-tongued, spritely
fellow who was quick to make friends and even quicker to fill the
heart with hope and love. A man who Vinson wish he knew, but all
he knew was the hypocracy and pain of it all. His father's legacy
would be bathed in the Light, but Vinson knew it was all a sham.
He wanted his own legacy to be a legitimate representation of who
he was and what he did for the world.

It was with that in mind that Vinson chose to remove his father
from his heart and head. It was a gruesome affair, one that left
him crimson from head to toe, showered in the still-warm life-
force of his father. He was quickly apprehended by the church and
spent the next several years in little-discussed torture chambers
and asylums. It was upon his 18th birthday that he was released
into the world, a "reformed" man in the eyes of the church. He
was ushered into the healer's guild of what was then a Ruined City,
for it was believed that it would be from there that Vinson would
best learn to serve the Light.

Chapter 2

Vinson has never been a particularly dastardly or heinous figure,
at least not in his own eyes. He still sees himself as the boy
protecting his siblings and mother from the wrath of an angry
tyrant. His hope is that a better world might be Created, a world
where all know thier place in an orderly, peaceful, prosperous,
and just society. It is Vinson's belief that the Creation of this
world would best be accomplished by ensuring that all know thier
place beneath the gods and under the jurisdiction of one law. Others
believe differently, and Vinson respects that, but those that stand
against him must be corrected for that is the way of his Lord.

Vinson scoffs at the idea of being "redeemed" in the Light, and the
offer is made often, but he sees no need for "redemption" when he
knows that his current path is right and just. Moreover, his past
leads him to believe that all of those of the Light are hypocrites,
enshrouding their atrocities and foul deeds in euphemisms and deceit.
Even less trust and respect is given to those who revel in their
atrocities, the "hole dwellers" who hope to force the world into
eternal damnation and the clutches of otherworldly creatures. There
are even those who walk in his midst that Vinson trusts little, those
who have pledged themselves to Zurcon or gods outside the Imperial
pantheon. He tolerates them, utilizing them to further his own goals, but
he tries to keep them at a distance and would likely never place them
in a position of power. In fact, the only people Vinson trusts fully
are those who follow his Lord, particularly those who are of the Divine
Sect and who preach the word of Lord Khasotholas.

Role

Chapter 1

Although he trusts followers of Lord Khasotholas fully, he expects more
of them than he might from others. He believes that the Lord's followers
must be striving to perfect themselves, both internally and externally,
so as to do right by and serve the Lord appropriately. Those who fall
short are likely to be more harshly punished than non-followers so that
they might utilize the opportunity to hone their strengths and remove
their weaknesses.

However, all who fight alongside Vinson must remain in line and show
strength at all times. He does not tolerate displays of weakness such
as constantly announcing defeat to the whole of the Empire, unless the
situation calls for it, and those who litter the world with their corpse,
particularly in the Imperial Lands where all will know of their failure,
are likely to be chastized or otherwise treated harshly.

To Vinson perfection is measured in a number of ways. Some examples of
internal flaws include telling lies, wavering faith, cowardice, undue
submissivenes. Some examples of external flaws include frequent failures,
death, chaos, and the unnecessary commision of heinous acts.


Although Vinson serves as a conduit through which the Voice of the
Dark Lords of Empire speaks, he tries to avoid interactions with Lord
Grurk. Vinson sees Grurk as the immortal representation of his father,
vengeful and angry - sometimes without apparent cause. He is respectful,
but would rather be able to avoid the situation altogether so as to
ensure he stays on the Lord's good side. When he does speak to Lord
Grurk his responses are likely to be concise so as to avoid any room
for misunderstanding.
