Chapter 4

Gredoor sat within his hut, body mangled from a drawn battle with the Nexans.
wrist appeared to be lumps of clay, a should hung loosely by its side.
He grumbled quietly to himself as he replaced the old dressings, skin, hair
and blood joining the old cloth of the bandages. Gingerly placing one wrist
between his legs he pulled the bandage with his teeth, clinching it tight.

Strung along the walls of his hut are various herbs, strips of cloth and clay
jars of all shapes and sizes. Some had fastidious notes scrawled upon them,
others merely a name.

In the lower left hand side of the hut, a small hutch contains several
tablets of crudely carved clay.Each one depicts different diagrams of
various parts of the body. Arrows point to various joints, knees, wrists,
elbows, shoulders. Gredoor kicks one aside with his feet and stares at it.
It shows each bone in the humanoid wrist and tiny marks indicate common break
points.

Studying the diagram closely you see the Svirfnebli roll over. Soon the
heavy breathing is replaced with the sound of shifting bones and guttural
grunts of pain.

Chapter 3

The blood trickled down the tip of his axe. Gredoors chest heaved heavily
his breathes releasing frosty plumes in the cold night. Lifting the stomach
of some strange beast, he squeezes the widest portion of it sending water
cascading down his beard.

He had visited the Paragons shrine several times now, speaking with the
priestess Hedonandra and began to undergo the process of becoming an
apprentice Mason. Gredoor saw himself as a simple grindstone used to sharpen
his fellow villagers. He shaped and chiseled their behaviors, their
abilities to engage mages across Thera and most importantly to destroy the
Nexans and their coveted isle.

While outwardly he attempted to project a pillar of strength, within he was
rough, poorly honed. He saw weakness in each strike he laid upon his foes.
He saw his glaring imperfections in the Villages Vale.Constantly, he
searched for herbs, salves, and anything that could improve his prowess in
battle.

Gredoor shivered slightly, the cold finally seeping into his aching muscles.
Next to him a corpse lay with its entrails spilled out on the ground.
from his haunches Gredoor slung his axe upon his shoulder and marched into
the night. In his free hand he held a simple grindstone.

Chapter 2

Thellodious wallowed in his grief at the Grub Root taven, a favorite of
miners, stonemasons, blacksmiths and hard laboring Svirfnebli. Known for
their incredibly potent and filling drinks often fights would erupt
momentarily only to slide into boisterous singing and jigging.Cast from
the Kings hall for his inability to match the invokers onslaught on the
stone, Thellodious fell into despair, he could no longer afford to provide
the equipment he so desired to have his son wear, to carry on the legacy of
his craft. What he could pass down were a poorly crafted axe, a manual on
quarrying and a pendant he had been given by the King for his appreciated in
crafting the Wardens walk.


As Gredoor waited in the hall for his father to stagger home a large
explosion could be heard in the distance. Shortly after, Thellodious burst
through the door, covered in ash and granite fragments.

"Gredoor, fetch me my hammer and chisel immediately!" He cried, a look of
panic washing over his face.

Gredoor quickly ran to the footlocker in his parents room and gathered the
objects. Stumbling over several rugs he shoved them into his fathers arms
as his father dashed out the door. That was the last time Gredoor would ever
see his father alive.

Chapter 1

Since the dawn of civilization, creatures of have used the stone of Thera to
build weapons, temples, roads, homes, ornaments and anything in between. The
family of Gredoor Telltinacia held a proud tradition amongst them. For five
generations they were the quarrymen for the settlements of their people.
They were the first to scout and split the rock for the construction of Upper
Cragstone. It was their keen eyes and diligent mallets that the first
cornerstones came from.


Under the watchful gaze of Thellodious Telltinacia they set upon the granite,
bending it by their sheer force of will. Despite the vicious onslaught by
Telltinacia and his skilled quarrymen, they were beset with delays.
Thellodious urged his men on, driving them to work throughout the long nights
and during the sweltering days when the tunnels in the mountains seared their
flesh. The Kings irritation grew, the costs swelled and trade with the
oversiders faltered causing the Councillors to incessantly swarm his throne
room, filling it with a constant buzzing.

To expedite the process the King turned to magic. Deep within the
Enchanters halls he found what he was looking for. Members of the guild of
transmutation were hired to make the quarrymen relentless and strong, when
the men soon grew weary and collapsed dead, the King turned to the guild of
invocation to tear the rock asunder. Much to his satisfaction they performed
well enough. Accidental maimings and deaths increased, but production had
tripled since he began hiring guildmembers from across Thera.

Thellodious repeatedly voiced concerns as his number of skilled quarrymen
dropped from fifty to ten. Twenty had died; another twenty has been wounded
so severely by exploding stone that he would doubt they would ever leave the
healers hall. Despite his pleas, the King pushed him aside, opting for
expediency over skill.
