Chapter 13

Nearly a lifetime worth of events have occured in a small time. Some of it
feels overwhelming while others are awe inspiring. One of my eldest friends
and closest allies Inerayo has found his way to the heavens. A fantastic man
in life, I can only hope the heavens allow him to fully blossom into the
greatest that I have always seen in him. Though, losing his mortal shell
leaves a bit of a hole in my heart. It too will heal, though the void will be
eternal just as memory Salyeris and Darikir still dwell in a vacant corner.

Another first for the Island has apparently occured in my years as one of
Lord Hammersong's Sappers was sent to find me and instill a bit more aim for
my spear. A truly humbling experience, yet one that I must not take for
granted. As the Sapper told me, surviving the training will lead to even more
hardship as the world will treat me far different then they did prior. A
challenge I welcome with a smile.

Chapter 12

It is interesting how everything in life seems to find a balance. I have
finally managed to complete the task that Rayihn sent me upon to restore a
bit of my vigor. As my own life extends a bit, it seems that others have and
continue to wane. First there was the passing of Darikir, and now there is
rumor of Kelarin seeking retirement.

I can only hope that those two both linger on with me as a constant reminder
to stay true to myself and to never stop chasing my dreams, even if they
change or remain eternally out of reach. Who knows... Maybe they will wait
for me to welcome me at the gates of wherever I end up when my time finally
comes.

Chapter 5

Both Cersee and Ghafler have said the same thing. A boon to the Isle, a
respected elder amongst the Seekers. Perhaps when the time comes for the next
Vote, a new chapter will be written with the glass halls. For a long time
there has never been a woodsman as Rhyme. There is a chance that will change.


With the extended abscence of Kii as of late, there is a large void to fill
in the strong arm branch of the Isle. Luckily the minotaur Xong grows and
shows immense prowess. Though very powerful, tactics and timing seem to elude
the great beast. A bit of guidance and he will turn into one of the fiercest
warriors the Isle has housed in a long time.

Chapter 1

Opposite but Equal:

For everything that exists in our world, there is an opposite thing. Whether
it is a physical thing, or an ideal. Without something to counteract it, it
cannot exist. Every force has an equal and opposing force. The validation of
a thought or belief comes from the conflicts that arise from those who oppose
it.

For this reason, there is no sense of right or wrong. Reality has no place
for such simple terms. If there is no wrong, then there is no right. If there
was no night, then day could not exist. Being wet would not be defined if
there was no dry. It would just be known as being. As odd as it sounds, the
very definition of something evil involves the use of good, just as you would
use evil in defining what makes something good. The presence of the opposing
force grants the definition and makes it real.

Chapter 2

Being Everything by Being Nothing:

As with most things in life, there are varying degrees. You can be slightly
hungry, and you can also be starving. Both are versions of hunger, though
neither is a true way to define the ideal. You may also be full, but in other
cases you may have over indulged and raised an ache in your belly. This may
sound like an odd way to explain something, but bear with me.

The middle state when using food as an example is to just be content. At that
point, you are at your ideal comfort. You are neither hungry, or full, but
you are at the highest level of happiness. The example seems a bit strange,
but it is very applicable to everyday life.

At times, especially times like these, there is the need to be good, and also
to be less then good. The better you are at realizing when you need to do
which, the better you will be at truly finding the center. By opting to be
neither good or evil in all that you do with life, you will in turn embody
both and be a valuable asset for the world as a whole.

Chapter 3

The Island is quiet, almost too quiet more often then not. It is a very
calming yet disheartening thing. If not for the crackling of the Veil, there
would be nothing. The passing of Solec apparently has stolen a bit of vigor
from some of the men. Without having much opportunity to know the old Meter,
there is little place for sorrow. However there is a place for growth.

There have been a handful of young men and women who, whether they realize it
or not, possess the foresight necessary to take on the path of a Seeker. Most
have been addressed and questioned in regards to their intentions with the
Island. Sadly most have opted to take a simple traveling life instead of
embracing the gift they possess.

Perhaps with a bit more fight coming through the glass halls, others will be
more inclined to raise their standards in support of the cause. Though, the
more that battle for Balance, the less necessary it makes each individual
in the current lot. It is an odd balance that is struggled to be maintained
within the Floating Isle.

Chapter 4

The longer a man spends in thought, the farther he stretches from reality. As
the mind begins to wander, the legacy that a man leaves behind also comes to
light. While in conversation with the Lady Rayihn, it came out that there was
not a woodsman ever to be appointed as Rhyme within the Nexans Isle. Perhaps
the goal is a lofty one, but it is still one worth striving for.

The dream is very noble, but reality is what matters most. As long as Ghafler
has lifeblood he seems to be the most favored of the Seekers and rightfully
so. There is no chance of ursurping such a fine man, but the aspiriation to
lead will remain and linger so long as it is necessary.

Chapter 6

As the vote draws closer to its end, it is both exciting but trying on the
body and mind alike. Before her passing, the Meter Cersee placed all of her
faith into me with her vote. The current Rhyme also felt that it would be the
best interests of the Isle to nominate me....

The shadows of doubt and worry still linger near me, and they always will.
Though if the others have such faith in me then perhaps it is time for me to
as well. I will only fail them if I do not.

And to top it all off.... Should I win, I have a bargain to fulfill with the
Lady of the Sea. Salyeris may not be as keen on the idea, but only time will
truly reveal that answer.

Chapter 7

With the closing of the vote, it seems that the Isle has placed its faith in
me, just as I have placed my faith in them. It is a truly magical feeling of
happiness. And as such... The ambitious new goal of bridging the gap between
the Village and the Isle has begun.

At times that cursed woman is tender, but mostly harsh and sharp. A beauty
lies in her far beyond the superficial look. The way she carries herself, and
knows exactly who and what she is draws me like a moth to flame. That inner
strength is something that perhaps I have yet to find in myself, but it seems
even she sees something of worth in me.... Especially since she seems to be
on board with the whole courtship.

Perhaps, just perhaps, fate has drawn us together so that she can be the half
that completes me. The part of my life that fills the doubt within myself.
Time will truly showcase what is meant to be from our lives. And I can only
pray that these foolish headlong dives into hell and back for her love is
going to get somewhere...

Chapter 8

I never would have imagined myself at the point of life I am at now. I set
forth with little real goal, or ambition. A rough sense of purpose, but never
did I aspire to what I have become. A leader of men, a love struck fool,
favored of the kindest Goddess this world knows...

It has all come so quick, yet so slowly. A life spent building to this moment
that I did not know was coming. Truly a humbling experience, and one that I
do not take for granted. The greatest part of it all is to look back at the
boy I began as.. And to see the man I have become. Foolish pride and
unfocused anger... Quite embarrassing to look back at the way I carried
myself at points.

Although it is from those shortcomings and flaws that the growth was
possible. If given the opportunity to do my life over again, nothing would
change. I am unsure if I will ever be able to truly thank Lady Rayihn for all
she has done, but I am certain that she does know that she will always be the
best part of me.

Chapter 9

Time is an interesting thing. It knows all the answers of the future, but it
does not reveal them as fast as you desire. Instead, it strings you along
giving just enough detail to either cause you hope or despair. It has been a
long time since I last saw Salyeris. Even longer since I spoke to her
regarding anything of note. Perhaps this is the test of my mettle, of my
patience... Perhaps a test of my heart.

I pursued her for a many years never getting anything but disdain, and then
when she seemed to be coming around, she vanished from me. And just when I
believed that she had been lost to me.... She returns. Is this a sign that
she is truly the one for me, or a sign that I am nothing more then a fool for
still pursuing what is unattainable....

Damn you for holding the answer from me time... Damn you.

Chapter 10

Time has passed and the warring has begun to tax both my body and my mind a
mind. Though I am fortunate because my Love Rayihn has been a constant source
of rejuvination for my mind, and now apparently there is an opportunity to
revive a bit of my body as well. She has tasked me with finding ten things.
Five that represent myself, and five that represent what her.

The task seems terribly simple at the start, but the fact that it is so wide
open makes me struggle a bit with it. I am sure that she will be pleased with
whatever I come up with, but I cannot help but think that I will struggle to
find something that I too can be pleased with. Perhaps simple truly is best
and I am creating a mountain of a spec of sand...

Chapter 11

Far too often, man gets his sight so set on the unknown of the future.
Sometimes it how he intends to shape the world around him, or perhaps the way
he attempts to preserve what he has molded. Either way it can lead to some
oversight and perhaps some forgetting of important details. Even the greatest
of men was molded and shaped along their path.

From the cold lessons of a father who only desired the best to the warm love
of a mother who saw the good through the harsh treatments. The lives of those
who have shared our own are the source of some of the greatest and worst
qualities of all us. Each and every spirit that has twined itself in the
story of a life has left an impression. One of the greatest injustices is to
forget that it is not ourselves but those around us who truly create the
person we are.

There have been many spirits who have come and passed in the years. Each one
very important, each one teaching something. Perhaps it is time for me to
shift my perspective a bit away from the unknown future. A bit of reflection
and time spent honoring the past who has helped carve me, and even the
present that continues to do so seems like a good place to start.
