Agarah Nysen, the Soulless Spectre
DescriptionFrom under the cowl of his robe you see his calm blank stare, deeper and colder than the depths of the sea, focusing on nothing, yet seeing everything. The corners of his dark eyes, like ebon pearls draining warmth and light from all that his gaze falls upon, are creased with age but have lost none of their malice with the passing of years. His thin lips are pale and belie the presense of life in the body of this man. His face, worn with time, does not stand out but you can sense hidden below the surface a great power that you can not put your finger on. A well trimmed salt and pepper beard frames his cruel, yellow toothed mouth. His short hair is black, like crushed charcoal, though wings of grey are beginning to show at his temples. Robes of impenetrable pitch black cloak his thin frame in darkness. The shadows seeming to seep from the folds of his garments, he continues confidently on his way.

RoleChapter 10 The Past of a man in a dark room Added Wed Nov 19 13:48:46 2003 at level 28:A single candle flickers in the dark of the cold damp room; you have found your self in. The smell of death overwhelms you as you talk in a deep breath of the stale cold air. You notice a man sitting leaning over a old wooden desk, tapping away as he writes in a grey leather book. It can't help but wonder why this man does not sense your presence or give any reaction to you.
You begin to move closer to the man, yet he still does not notice you. As you get closer and closer the book becomes clearer. A book covered with grey leather to protect it from the elements, A golden latch on the top and bottom of the book; gives you the feeling this book is something that this man does not want shared easy.
You begin to lean over the shoulder of the man, peeking into what he is writing. It is hard to make out, but as you peer in more and more the words become clear images. Images that form to tell you of this mans past. As you read the rooms blackness seems to change around you, as if you were swept away to another time and place.
You find your self standing in a common house along the northern part of Galadon. A women sits on a chair rocking a baby back in forth. The fires crackling noise catches your attention, causing you to stare into it for sometime. When your trance of the fire ends you look up to the mantle above the fire and notice a painting of the women you saw in the chair and here child, yet you begin to wonder way the father of that child was not in the picture. As time passes you feel an enjoyment out of watching this women play with her child on the rug before the fire place. Suddenly the room starts to swirl around you again, going dark.
As the room comes into focus again you find yourself in the transmuters guild all watching students in a class with rats before them. You scan the room, looking for something that stands out, trying to figure out why you are here. As you move across the room with your eyes you notice a child; a child that you have seen before, the child from the house. You move closer to him watching what he does, for surely you figure this must be that man in the cold dark room past. You see the child all focusing on the rats, rats in a cage in front of them. The guild master then orders the class to make the rats fly. You watch as the child in front of you focuses on the rat; yet nothing happens. Scanning the room once again you can see all the rats floating in the air of the cage. Walking towards you and the child the guild master come starts to yell at the child, "This is a spell any first year student can do, yet you still can not. You will never be a Arcane mage if you can't make a rat fly." The child begins to cry, as he is told once again make the rat fly now. The boy focuses hard and hard on the rat, but something as wrong the rat began to stop moving, the rat had died from the child's hands. With a gasp the guild master went to the front of the room and began to write something on a scroll. You move your focus back the child as you watch him continue to stare at the rat, you notice the rat's eyes open, blink and the close. You wonder did the child control that rat's life less corpse? The world begins to swirl about you again.
This time you find yourself in Hamsah with a middle aged man. Yes it is the child from the house and guild. Yet this time he is dressed darker, much much darker. Behind him you notice a lifeless cr

RoleChapter 7 The Beginning From An End Added Thu Dec 25 18:08:03 2003 at level 47:Before you is a man sleeping on a single cot, along the west wall of this room, beside the cot lies a table. The book; that book Agarah has never left alone in all the times you have seen him in this hellish vision, just lies there one the table. You can not hold back you must see what he guards so much; you must read more of what this dark mage has written. You begin to reach for the book only to be stopped by the sounds and movement of Agarah asleep. You notice it is just Agarah's reaction to something he dreams, whatever hell he dreams about must have even bothered him this eve.
You open the pages of the leather book, and begin to study the words within.
"It has taken sometime, but now I have learned all I can with this body. I am growing in age; it can be seen in my face. I have spent much time defending what I believe, and done what I can do create a society which many feel safe in. Yet it is not enough, I find my powers lacking what they need to be, I know I can change that.
However I worry, worry about the great dangers I have read about concerning the Elixir. I know in my cold heart I must try.
I have pondered how I should go about this, and yet the old texts seem to be correct, the lich that has provided so many before myself with the chance at shedding this flesh; will be the one to seek. The texts do not speak much of the lich, and I do not know what I shall do when I stand before something of such power, yet I will not back down, nor turn and run. I must stand, I have the strength and my heart does not hold fear, what comes is what is meant to come.
Soon I will make my journey."
A shiver runs down your back and the room fades to nothingness, as you absorb the idea of a Lich walking among the mortals of the land once again. A lich that will enforce the laws and ideas of the Spire.

RoleChapter 9 Dark mage of the Spire Added Wed Dec 10 15:49:07 2003 at level 41:The smell of death overwhelms you as, you find your self standing in a tomb. As you look around you notice this tomb is old, and crumbling before your eyes. However in the middle of the tomb you see the same dark man, you once remember seeing in what could only be dreams. You notice the man gathering things from the tomb, among many things several pieces of flesh from the decaying body of the dead in this tomb. Within seconds and couple spoken words from the man before you, a form takes shape lifeless form, yet it moves and reacts to the Mage.
You follow the dark man as he leaves the graveyard and steps into the town of Galadon. Once the man, steps into town you notice several guards come to his side, weapons ready. In a cold and low voice the man asks one of the guards "Has there;role + been any activity in my absence." "Nothing to report Magistrate." He replies
Now knowing that this dark mage is a magistrate of Galadon and seems to have been for quite sometime, you begin to wonder what else has happened since you last versioned this man. Before you can even begin to ponder you notice his book from that last dream, in his hands. The man moves into the spire, and sits at desk. You recall the way in which you learned about this man before and attempt to read his book again.
Within moments of ready the first words of the open page, the room begins to swirl around you. As the room becomes still, you notice yourself with the Mage in the vast plains north of Galadon. Within seconds a warrior arrives, with a shock looked on his face. The man then commands the warrior to sleep as he does. With screams of help in the back ground the mage beginning to place spells of great power on the warrior. As he finishes spells. He comments in a very strong and deep voice, as if the sleeping warrior could hear it, "You lover of the wild, Sylvan, Will learn the society can not be toyed with, and for the other criminals, that I will hunt down. I do not think I will only function in a single town. Criminals will learn my law will hunt out you criminals no matter where you go." And with one quick command "die" the warrior breath stops.Your vision swirls again, only to settle back in the spire with the man.
A crack at the door comes, and with it a cry about crime in Galadon. The Mage stays quickly from his seat, closing his leather book; ending any chance of further reading. As he runs out of the spire into town he mutters something about "They will never learn, perhaps after my recreation of myself they will."

RoleChapter 8 The Turning of an Ally Added Fri Dec 12 20:01:27 2003 at level 43:Two roads meet before you, one that travels north and south, another east and west. You can't help but think you know this place as you vision clears; clearing to reveal yourself in the center of Galadon's Market. You give a quick look around, only to find the same Dark clothed man not far from your self. You know it is that dark mage you have come to recognize oh to easily. With him as before is two guards that stand ready at the mage's side.
You notice someone enter from the north, clenching an object in his hands, as he mutters to himself. The man moans out the name "Agarah," as he does this the dark mage turns to him. With that single motion you know the mage you have seen visions of is Agarah
Agarah Looks to the man, with no expression on his face at all, seemly as if he had nothing to say or wanting anything to do with this man.
The man beings to chat claims "I am order, I am the law" Agarah Turns quickly from speaking to a guard at his side, and glares at the man, and commands, "You are not the law anymore it seems," as he points to the man closed hand. You can't help but wonder why Agarah said, anymore; with that running through your mind you take a look at what Agarah pointed to. It seemed to be a gold medallion. Even though the object seems broken, you have a feeling you have seen it before. And as Agarah Turns his shoulder to look towards the west, you see a gold medallion, with a simple of the law on it. That was it, this man, held a broken medallion similar to Agarah's. That was what went was Agarah used anymore, this man was once an ally to the law, a magistrate himself.
Puzzled by what events you had missed that lead to this. Was interrupted quickly but an attack right before your eyes, a druid struck the former magistrate. Within no time, Agarah Step quickly into action, his guards doing what they can, yet with not much success at the start. When suddenly the former magistrate, came running back in, after fleeing from the attack and began to assault the druid as he was distracted by Agarah's guards. Shock and surprise came over Agarah expression, as he watched the former ally give up all that he once believed in, and break a law in a protected town. Agarah paused for a moment, as if second guessing himself, before he gave the order to bring his former ally to justice. The druid amused by the events before him runs back to the woods west of Galadon where he came from.
Quickly Agarah leads the chase of the new criminal, former ally. The criminal turns trying to take over in a local villagers home, believe he was out of Agarah's sight long enough to hide. However as many learn, you can not hide from the law, and Agarah with two guards beside him, strike the criminal dead; ending a dream and a respected relationship.
"Should I feel something? Am I that cold? I took the life of an ally a 'friend' I believe is the term. Yet I do not truly feel anything, have I started to change. This brings to question if I undergo my recreation of myself, will I change more then I want. Will the dark gods control me more then they do now?"
"Yet his last word, spoken to me by a mutual ally will always be in my mind no matter what I become.. 'tell Agarah he has the potentiol to become anything he wishes and not to give up.'"
As your page becomes blank in your mind, the room grows pitch black.

RoleChapter 6 Replacing an old Friend Added Mon Dec 29 09:21:04 2003 at level 47:You notice two figures, standing in this great room before you. As you look around you notice a simple stone altar, carved in to the top are the Scales of Justice, with a sword balanced on one side and a book on the other. It does not take long to see that you are standing in the spire before the Tribunal Healer, Tribunal Executioner.
The Healer and Executioner look at reach other for a moment, they call out. "Agarah Return to the Spire"
It does not take long, for Agarah to come before the two grand figures and take a place before them. Agarah Looks up to both of them hoping to find some clue in there expressions as to what it is they seek. Yet both of there faces hold no expressions or clues.
The Executioner looks at Agarah and asked "How goes your time as a Magistrate?" "I enjoy my time watching over each town, It goes fine. I enjoy my time watching over each town, It goes fine" Agarah replied with his deathly cold sounding voice.
They continue to talk on several matters, you are unsure about what one was, yet you can remember the Executioner say something about a quest, and transformation. Could this be what Agarah had written about in his leather book?
It was sometime before the Executioner made a request of Agarah,
"'The position of Justiciar is empty after it's former occupant lost his way. you fix his mistakes, and watch over our towns from this position?" The Executioner commanded clearly.
Quickly Agarah responded, almost with a sign of true happiness, "It would be an honour."
The Executioner then nodded and hand Agarah a new badge, and pointed to a door with Justiciar written on it. And then said, "There is more in the Library also, now go learn what you need"

RoleChapter 5 An Early Choice Added Sat Jan 3 17:17:27 2004 at level 47:Once again you find yourself before a sleeping figure. However the room seems to be better maintained. The man sleeps on a large cot, along the west wall of this room, beside the cot lies a table. You look around, and find a large desk covered in papers and scrolls. Yet the one thing that stands out is that leather book. Agarah's leather book lies open on the desk, beckoning you to read it. With out a second thought you walk over and sit at the desk, studying the words in the leather book.
"One again I was offered a choice, and it had come so soon after the last. It had not even been an elven week that my role in the spire was the Justiciar of Thera.
I knew this choice was coming, however it was sooner then I had planed or expect. Kelrizza's wishes for Vindicator were not hidden and I knew she would be offered what she wanted. Yet still sooner then I expected.
The choice to leader the Spire, or continue as the Justiciar present before me, I was unsure what I wanted. At the time I was more focused on shedding my mortal flesh, and becoming a Lich. Yet I have not seemed to impress the High Priest enough to get her aid.
So what was I to do my decision did not just affect myself, It affect the all of the Spire and Kelrizza herself. If I said no Kelrizza dream of Vindicator would have to wait. I could not do that to Kelrizza, so I agreed to taking over leadership of the Spire and becoming The Provost.
It is not that I am not worthy of the duty, nor that I do not welcome it. It seems more that I was wishing to be a Lich when it was present to me.
I will miss the duties and advantages of Justiciar, and I know the Honour of Provost is great, yet it seems that the lands respect the Justiciar and Vindicator more. Perhaps after my becoming, and one worthy is found, I will take up the duties of Justiciar again and allow another to create order through the leadership of the Spire. Until that day if it ever comes, I will create what I see the Spire to be and leader to strength and order.

RoleChapter 4 Destruction of the wilds. Added Sun Feb 1 12:01:20 2004 at level 47:Your vision clears, as your eyes begin to focus in the darkness of the room you find yourself. It does not take long for you to know where you are and what you must do. Once again you find yourself in Agarah's quarters, while he sleeps. It is this time you use to learn more of this Dark mages life, through this leather book.
As you open the leather book, the room begins to fade to pure darkness, only to change into a view of a green grove. Before you stand four figures, you notice Agarah right away. The other Three are not know to you. The figures begin to whisper something back and forth yet you can not make out any sounds. Moments after each of them nod, you see a figure begin to take on a glow around him, That is when Agarah and his companions begin to attack this new figure. As the fight continues you look around and notice that this is the Sylvan's grove, their home. It does not take long for the Agarah to break into the grove and then move on to the Bear. With the aid of his the other three, The Tribunals take the Sylvan's sapling. Agarah nods to his allies, and then the room fades once again.
As the room begins to clear, in your eyes, you notice a glow of red everywhere, and sense the heat all around you. Lava flows in everywhere in this room. As you watch the four figures stand around a small pit of fire, A voice from no where clams, "throw it into the fire." While a evil grin of the figures throws the sapling into the fire as all watch it burn.
Time passes, and you notice that you have followed the four figures once again to the grove, this time however they do not stand together, and the four figures have taken up difference places in the Ashes. It is then you notice yelling from all figures.
"I call upon the Ancients to the bidding as we are the bearers of the mark!" "'We call upon the destruction of the mark so that the order of magic may;role + prevail!" "May the strength of the mark bring the molten rain upon mine enemies!'"
As you look to see why the glow of the sun as changed you notice bright red clouds begin to form in the sky over the western part of the Ashes. It is then you hear the howls from a large bear in frustration as the molten rain falls upon the frozen dome.It does not take long before the howling dies on the wind as a dome shatters. After which cheers can be heard over the sound of molten rain continues to fall on the now dead grove.
As you find yourself back with the sleeping Agarah, you notice a simple line at the bottom passage.
"The grove is dead, I should be glad, yet at what cost, what is to;role + come?"

RoleChapter 3 A new Enemy. Added Sun Feb 1 12:09:18 2004 at level 47:You find yourself, standing behind Agarah once again as he writes something on a piece of paper. Attempting to read what he wrote is not easy as he leans over it to write but you do notice this missive he writes is addressed the whole Spire. From time to time Agarah leans back from the paper to consider what he has written; you are able to catch a glimpse of what the missive holds in it.
"As far as I can tell it began when a previously unseen Imp, Lyristeon arrived in Galadon. Lyristeon one that does not seem to favour order much, walked into the Spire and unexpected to the Captain engaged him in battle. I believe as always the Captain put up his best, yet I do not believe any of us would stand any better against an Imp.
After Lyristeon was done there, I am told by Grurk he then walked back into town, then started to make claims on the city. After which I believe, or perhaps during when Kin-rin lord appeared. As many people in Galadon gathered and spoke, rather then listen, Lyristeon sent everyone away magically, several times I am told.
After some more time in the Center of town as the Imp and Kin-rin tossed words about. Lord Velkurah Joined the Spire and pledged to defend it while Lyristeon was near. It did not take long before Lyristeon decided to leave.
I myself can tell you the power of Lyristeon's manipulation is strong, as I went to speak; he decided to force me to strike Velkurah, in town, while I was on duty. It was more painful the principle, then the pain of blows themselves"
As Agarah leans back, thinking you notice with a Wishper of his breath you hear Agarah say, "More then ever I need to shed my flesh, and need the Undead Clerics help, when will he answer me"
Agarah then leans forward and begins to write again, It is then your visin fades as Agarah signs the bottom of the paper.

RoleChapter 2 Restless Sleep Added Sun Feb 8 20:50:59 2004 at level 47:You find yourself, once again in the presence of Agarah, sleeping within his quarters. Knowing that the book beside him holds the information you seek you begin to reach for it. Just before you take hold of it; Agarah wakes in a cold sweat.
Startled you leap back, and watch as Agarah quickly runs to his desk with the book, and begins to write something. Never before have you seen with such an expression of confusion on his face.
Knowing the answers will show in that leather book, you begin to read all that he writes as he writes it.
"All I could see was shades of gray from mist colored to black. I was standing at the peak of the Spire, watching over my City, the one I protect. I could see all around me my Magistrates, sworn to obey the law at my will."
"Citizens of all races and sizes bow to me accordingly as I walked the streets. As I did this the knowledge that not a crime in decades had been reported, making my reign as Provost the most successful of all time." I was then I noticed a glint of silver, among all the grays. It was a Silver Badge of Justice worn by a human guard that I recognized. The one glint was just enough it seemed to trigger a feeling that the human should not be there."
"I ran back to the spire and begin scratching something on a piece of parchment. It was then I seemed to realize that it hasn't been decades, but hundreds of years. That human, would have to be over three hundred years old."
"I then ran from the Spire, through the streets realizing that for hundreds of years, I hade been protecting a city of undead."
It would seem even now, my dreams are filled with the desire to shed my flesh, But can this be a dream of what I believe is to come?
The book slams shut as Agarah, heads to his cot once again for, some rest. The room fades to nothing as Agarah closes his eyes before you.

RoleChapter 1 Dealing with the Undead Added Sun Feb 22 17:00:33 2004 at level 47:The darkness clears revealing Agarah, sitting at his desk reading thought his leather book. At the same time you see a list beside him, and a map of Thera. Closer and closer you step towards Agarah, when you notice the list holds for lines of wording on it. Before you are able to read what each line was Agarah pulls the paper into his robe. Hoping that his leather book will shed light into what he works, you stand behind him and begin to read what he does.
"I have had my first encounter with the eleven cleric, A strange one that, spoke of a priestess. I do not know why but it thought I was sent to assassinate it. After dealing with the outlander rat that dared to be within Arboria, I approach the church. Slowly I approached in fear if I could not prove I was there by my own will and not to kill the cleric, I myself would be dead.
The High Priest, wish something from me, thought I had a feeling what it would be I did not wish to speak it, and offer it. But it was clear and the High Priest would take no less. So now I walk with no soul. As I watched it's eyes glow with my soul I knew things would not be the same.
It was after that, the aid I sought was granted, and the High priest will brew my elixir. First the cleric looked into me and told me of what it will need for this dead. Now I must seek four reagents.I have written them on a list I will keep by myself at all times.
I will place the objects as said by the High Priest here, for I must not lose them.
Firstly it spoke of 'a runed bronze collar'. Next came 'an edible, orange, pie-shaped fungus with a tough skin'. third reagent would be 'a long, thin spear covered in kelp, more useful for hunting than combat' And lastly 'a mithril belt with strange greenish-glowing arcane symbols'
I believe I know of these, now I must gather aid from mortals"
Agarah Slams the book closed, and the room turns pitch black
