Chapter 6

Many years has past since embarking upon the suicide attack against
those who were enemies of Kiadana Rah. And from that journey the
discovery that the disease Grafacut had was in fact created and
fostered by civilization. Since leaving civilization completely
Grafacut has discovered an inner savagry of such proportion and
fury, it even surprises himself. It is like the wilds have brought
out the animal beast within him, and he fights with a destructive
fury that is becoming feared by many who live within the civilization.
Grafacut never meant to be known, but it is happening as he carves
enemies with his daggers and knives.

Grafacut seems to especially delight in the close and personal
combat that knife fighting brings. It heightens his savagry to
be so close to his enemy and seeing within their eyes the fear
as he bleeds and carves their flesh with such short, unexpected
weapons for a giant. He is becoming more and more of a beast
than humanoid. And the disease seems to understand Grafacut's
new found savagry and is having strange side effects. Instead of
causing problems with Grafacut's health, the disease seems to be
working with Grafacut's body. It is as if the disease has gone
from parasitic to symbiotic. Grafacut believes that the disease
is not a disease after all but small creatures within his skin and
body. And this savage nature that has come out of him is instead
giving the small creatures a place to thrive and work with him
instead of eating him. It is like this disease now eats the savagry
created within his body instead of his body itself. What a curious
situation Grafacut is in. Who knows what else will transpire from
his affliction and his savage ways.

Chapter 5

The next morning, he woke, stripped down to only what he needed
and began preparations to stalk and enter battle. When he
removed most of his belongings, he noticed something
that he could not believe. The Whitening has receeded across
his body to simply back to spindley white web across his
body and most of his skin had returned to the perfect black
it once was. He was stunned. How did this happen and what
should be done?

He sat and puzzled out his situation. From when he left Kiadana
to here what did he do? There was nothing special, in fact he
had to live like a brute savage. Eating raw meat, breathing in
stinky open air untouched by the mouth of others. Drinking
water from where he could find it, spring, lake, river, or simply
a muddy puddle. It was through this puzzling that he came
to the answer. An answer that was obvious now. The Whitening
is not a sign or signal from the Gods above, it is simply
the result of living within society and civilization. There is
some part of it that comes from his own birth, by living like
he has been, it is not only controlled but receeded to simply
a spindley reminder of its ever presence. His body felt powerful
and strong. Not how he felt back at the Mountain. His skills
has heightened by the experience, not diminished through
living as a savage.

Grafacut had what he needed and his direction. And being
a fire giant a goal. Not only would he live as a savage but
he would destroy civilization for creating this affliction upon
him. He sought to tear down everything, mainly for the selfish
reason so he could live anywhere he wished, hunt anything
he wanted. Civilization must die, not for some righteous reason
other than he wants it to die. And in it dying he lives longer.
Selfish, righteous, devious, whatever the drive, the goal is
the same, Destruction and Combat of civilization.

Grafacut knows this task is quite monumental, so instead of
charging off like one of the other Ending Whites, sure in
his death. Now that he knows his death can be controlled
by him, it is time he joins another army to accomplish this.

He will join the army of the Tree of Outlanders, be one of
the cast outs, and destroy everything civilized he touches.

Chapter 4

Grafacut is ready for his first and only mission. One that will without
a doubt end in his permenant death. He is to slink into the wilds
of the Strange Island, hundreds of miles away, and find a wood elf
there who has been performing raids upon the Kiadana caravans
destined for the Nexus Rift. It is unknown how long it will take
or if he is there, but he is to go there and the priests of the Ending
White made it clear they didn't want him to return, at all. It
was a one way trip.

Grafacut leaves the mountain shortly after with his provisions. By
this time the Whitening has taken over most of his skin, where
now he only has patches of perfect obsidian black skin left. He
avoids civilization completely, sticking only to the wilds, mostly
to not be identified as one of the Ending White as well as to
simply avoid attention. He lives off the land, sleeps in rugged
caves in the Talhil mountains. Hides in dunes within the Desert
of Araile. And walks and lives off the land from the dry riverbed
through the virgin forests all the way to the Silverwood forest.
He stays out of sight, and for many moons, travels and lives off
the land itself.

He spends the night in Ysigrath, covered in mud and wet leaves
to hide the whiteness of his skin. And stares up at the sky
above him contemplating his own demise. Knowing that tomorrow
he will venture into the strange jungles and hope to find this
wood elf to slay.

Chapter 3

Immediately Grafacut is rejected to be a member of the Crimson
Black. Despite his training and abilities, he has the sign. The
society of Kiadana has created a secret suicidal order for those
that contract this disease (sign for them, they don't know it is
a disease). This order known as the Ending White are sent on
the most dangerous missions. Those missions almost always
end in death. But it is better to serve the Mountain than to
die the way the Whitening does it. So very few fire giants live
those missions and why would they since they are doomed to
die a humiliating death.

Grafacut is immediately sent to be part of the Ending White. There
he seems many fire giants all in various stages of the Whitening.
Some are almost transparent and are gearing up, while others
are just young children. What Grafacut notices although that most
of the individuals here are of middle to high royalty, like him. It
is as there is a trend, but he quickly sighs and resigns himself to
his short life in service of the Mountain.

Chapter 2

A disease that has plagued the Kiadana civilization in the recent
last thousand years. The cause of it is in short, civilization being
too close together, too many humanoids in too close of a space.
It is from breathing the air of others too close for too long, it is
from sharing of food and water sources that are overtaxed and
becoming polluted. It is from cross breeding of fire giants within
the elite the most, breaking what nature's balance has for it. And
the result is the Whitening. The fire giants do not know its cause
and have supersitions about it being a sign that those who have
it are chosen to serve the fire giant society as suicide warriors
for the good of the mountain. As those who have it do not live
long.

The disease itself creates small white spindley dots on the skin
but it doesn't stop there. As it progresses, it creates a white
spiderweb of lines across the whole body, interconnecting the
initial starting dots upon the skin. What is actuall happening
is the skin itself is thinning at that point. First the pigment fades
to white, which is the first stage. Once all the dots are connected
the disease slowly fills in the space between, infecting the skin
and causing it to turn white. The result at the end of the first
stage is a fire giant with bright white skin.

Stage two of the disease is when it becomes a problem. The white
skin then physically thins, and turns a transparent. A lucky fire
giant can survive for a little bit as their skin thins. If the skin
thins evenly it is possible to see within the fire giant's body through
the fine clear skin to their organs, muscle, body. But at some
point through trauma of the skin or simply through the final
thinning of the skin, the flesh breaks open. It can no longer contain
the body within and the fire giant's innards spill out, causing
instant and permenant death. This disease carries across into
death and rebirth in the Theran cycle. And upon reforming they
will simply immediately die again in a horrible painful way.

Grafacut is doomed to die within the next couple years at this
point.

Chapter 1

Grafacut is a normal fire giant, in the ways of how he was brought up
and started his life. Born in the civilized caverans of Kiadana as the
son of a high level elite guard and a female crimson dragon caretaker
priestess. From his birth he was groomed to move up the food chain
in the fire giant society. He was born into the middle, and both his
mother and father had high hopes for going higher. Through that they
immediately enrolled him for training to be a warrior of the highest
regard. And their connections as elite guard and priestess meant
he was able to get into the best. But from there, it was up to him.

He did not fail his parents when it came to duty and desire, and
upon his "manning" ceremony, he was to become Crimson Black,
an order of warriors built around the fighting styles of the Crimson
Dragons they hold dear. Many fire giants who were part of the
Crimson Black went on to greatness both within Kiadana society
and outside. It was the stepping stone Grafacut needed and his
parents were proud.

One of the requirements of the Crimson Black is smooth, obisidian
black skin. A sign of perfect health and fitness in the fire giant
community. Grafacut was inspected from birth and was found
to have this, another boon to his path in life. Another inspection
right before his "manning" ceremony and induction into the Crimson
Black is always required. Grafacut was not frightened as this
was just a formality. So he willing submitted himself to the
inspection.

What was found was shocking. Grafacut had tiny white, spindley
dots on his perfect black skin. They looked like tiny spider webs
of pure white laid upon his skin itself. There were a total of seven
of these tiny spindley dots upon his body, all in different locations.
They knew what it was, and so did Grafacut. It was The
Whitening.
