Xazzax the Bunny Lover, Sapper-Trained Defender of the Great Siege

Chapter 5

Xazzax has drawn parrallels from his own life to the current state of the
Village. When he first came to the village he was little more than a spark
awaiting igniting, through self reflection and reflection of the war around
him, he was able to engulf his spirit with the flames of war and enliven his
own passions for greatness. He wishes the entire Village to catch this spark
and be set aflame with the powers of inspiration. He sees stagnation and
apathy as just another adverse condition holding the village back, and
believes that by awakening the tales of Legends of the Village, specifically
those of the pillar, he can inspire his fellow villagers to burn brightly
like the bonfire outside the shrine of his goddess.

He has accepted the fact that Iunna's flame seems to have faded to embers due
to unknown circumstances. He expects it has to do with her abduction by the
Scions. He hopes that she too might find the inspiration needed to burn
brighter, though even her embers banked for the time being do not lessen his
image of her and the glory she brings to his own spirit.

Xazzax has learned much of the great siege during his time in the village.
While the Rites did not directly result in his becoming a member of the
leadership of the Village, it has been mentioned that should he survive his
sapper training he will have the knowledge necessary to lead the village in
the capacity of Captain. He has already had dealings with a dark-elf sapper
in the underdark who reminded Xazzax to revert back to his old ways as a
scout of Teth Azeleth to notice the unnoticable, and use what he sees to aid
him in any capacity that will aid the war. Specifically components to better
bandages and poultices, but in an abstract way this aids Xazzax with the
siege itself and teaches him to notice all the small details of a battle and
take every action into account when forming battle plans.

For example, in a recent siege Xazzax was fighting alone against three
raiders. Gnome shapeshifter, dwarf warrior, and arial invoker. Xazzax was
able to fight through quicksand and stand in defense at the destructor,
facing certain death. However, he noticed his surroundings and who he was
fighting, and when all was lost he ate seaweed, dove into the swamp of the
village, let them chase him in, swam up, and swam back down after they chased
him up. The gnome shifter did not have any water forms, the dwarf and the
arial were to afraid to go back into the murky depths. The raiders withdrew
without taking the head due to Xazzax's allies regaining their material form
and the mages losing their mental strength. In this way, he kept the head
from being taken and the siege of his enemies was successfully routed for a
later time.

Xazzax uses the shadows as his greatest ally and tool for fighting his
enemies. His choices of the Macalla teachings are serving him well, and he
rarely loses in fair combat. He wishes his own name sung through the ages.

Role

Chapter 4

Over the course of the past few years as a Villager, much of Xazzax's life
has changed. The most noticable change is with his fears. He has found
inspiration in the Hut of Rememberance in many forms, Villagers stronger than
he proving themselves and leaving their mark upon history, legends of their
own making remembered forever as long as the Village stands. He sees names on
the plaque and he challenges himself to have his name inscribed thusly,
knowing that unless he mastered his fear he would never rise to greatness. He
does not want to be remembered as the Villager that was cursed with visions
of spiders and bugs, but rather he wants to be remembered as a true leader
and inspiration to both the village and their enemies.

He had his first breakthrough after one of his frequent visits to the Shrine
of Iunna. He made peace with himself as he was reflecting by the fire within
her shrine, and he decided to push himself to his limits upon realization
that perhaps she felt him too weak to worship her due to his afflictions. He
walked all the way to the Underdark entrance that he first ran like a coward
from, and he entered with a torch in his hand. Many miles in, with a primal
cry of anger, he flung the torch far away from him and it sputtered out upon
hitting the ground. He felt the all too familiar whisper of many legs rising
up his calves, knees and thighs to his belly and arms immediately. He felt
consumed and choked by the vermin that entered his mouth, scratched his
eyeballs, and clicked and chittered inside of his ears. ENOUGH! With this
battle cry he called the vision of Iunna's flame to his mind and felt it burn
out his weaknesses. He looked at his hands, at his legs, at his arms. Nothing
there. He felt behind his neck, in his hair, in his tunic and leggings. No
infestation, no crawling intrusions. He looked around himself, searching the
vast warrens of his native terrain for any loathsome and feared creatures.
Silence. Emptiness. Peace.

Xazzax has made a few trips into the Underdark now, but he has no desire to
seek out his hold life which was little more than slavery. Although still
queasy around spiders and other insects, he has no inherent need to burn
torches or stay in well lit areas. He embraces the shadows, his heritage. He
still seeks to vanquish magic and mages so others might not be cursed as he
was, he wishes to become a legendary villager.

Chapter 3

Xazzax is taking to the village like a duck to water. He has enjoyed his
research with regards to curses and how to break them, and firmly believes
that the village will aid him with his. His hallucinations are coming less
and less due to his active training and fighting distracting him, but he
still holds a paramount fear of spiders and bugs. He learns more and more of
himself and his own abilities as he struggles to find a balance between
living his life and taking the lives of others.

He has not yet managed to catch the eye of the Goddess Iunna, though he has
gained much inspiration from his visits to her shrine. The fires within and
without of her place have been the source of countless hours of musing about
himself and his future. He hopes that the fires of his own spirit will ignite
the passions of those around him and lead them to victory. He has seen a lot
of dull spirited individuals in the Village, and hopes that by defending
alongside them he will lead them to greatness.

Chapter 2

Xazzax has discovered many things in recent years, about both himself and the
world around him.

1. If you attempt to learn with a surface dweller not of the village at one
point or another they will try to kill you.

2. Combat keeps the vermin and bugs away, it keeps the curse at bay in his
mind.

3. The Village of Battle has a method for a thing called 'the veil' and it
was spoken to him that if he were to 'thicken' this veil for long enough, his
curse may be broken.

4. He believes that if he pleases the Gods of Battle, his curse might be
removed for him.

5. Mages must be killed before they put more curses on him.

6. A God of the Village, Iunna, is called 'The Navigator of the Flames', buy
learning her ways and attempting to please her she may burn his soul free of
the curse which binds him.

He does not yet realize he isn't cursed but only under hallucinations, he
maintains his fear of insects and small vermin.

He seeks to become a Defender of the Battle cabal for the above reasons.

Chapter 1

Xazzax was a stereotypical dark-elf male. He was looked down upon by all in
the social hierarchy of Teth Azeleth and his upbringing wasnt pleasant.
Xazzax was prideful and boastful, he had something to prove and wanted to
make a name for himself within the city and among his peers.

Xazzax was a drow patroller. He excelled in being fleet of foot, having
excellent reflexes, and amazing fighting ability. Because of this combination
of traits along with those previously mentioned, he often went far beyond the
boundaries of his patrols. It was on one of these excursions that his life
would change forever.

Having gone far beyond his normal patrolling range in the vast warrens of the
Underdark, Xazzax came upon a gigantic open area with fungi pods as far as
his eyes could see. At the other end of the cavern he noticed an opening with
a faint light glowing within it. Wanting to be able to tell a tale at the
end of his patrol, he attempted to cross the cavern. Halfway in, a brief
stumble ruined all hopes he had of a good tale. Although he caught himself
before falling , his heel kicked one of the fungi pods and sent spores flying
everywhere, this triggered an amazing natural event of all the pods in the
cavern releasing their spores. There was nothing Xazzax could do except run
back choking on the spore-thick air.

Xazzax, from that day forth randomly gets the overwhelming sensation of being
covered by crawling spiders and insects. Xazzax lived, but took a side effect
like a horrible LSD trip, and is absolutely mortified with creepy-crawlies
such as insects and spiders. He feels them all over his body, in his hair, in
his mouth, and behind his eyelids.

Xazzax believes he is under a curse, that there was a dark mage at the other
end of the cavern with the light put the vermin swarm upon him. Xazzax will
do anything to break that curse.

Teth Azeleth is a cruel, cruel place. Once boastful and proud, Xazzax quickly
became a laughing stock among his peers, especially after figuring out that
fire, and open flames, are the one thing that keep the creatures at bay.
Xazzax can sometimes use his inherent ability, but more often than not uses
real fire to send the insects skittering away. Xazzax was the recipient of
many horrible exercises at breaking him of this behavior, and after he was
threatened with execution for patrolling with a live torch, he decided enough
was enough.

Xazzax went to the surface, torch guiding the way, leaving his life as a
dark-elf patroller behind him. He seeks first and foremost to break his
curse. Most dark-elves absolutely hate the sun. Xazzax thrives in it, it
keeps his hallucinations completely away. Also keep in mind, Xazzax doesnt
recognize them as hallucinations all the time.

Who knows what misadventures Xazzax has ahead..
