Chapter 4

Imperial First Captain Peregene Sakari approached the young man and applauded
his efforts to the wounded sailors and gave him a few words of advice for
such a talent. He told Vinq of the great Imperial Palace and the sect of
Divine priests.He went on to tell of Hamsah Mu'tazz and the priestly guild
he could learn from if one day he wanted to take the oath of the Empire.
Vinq weighed his options and the path he was on. One path led to a life as a
merchant and following under his father, but now a new path was presented to
him. This new path could make him stronger, quench his thirst for gold, and
bring him great power. An Imperial Priest, he thought to himself. He looked
around on the deck and the initiative he took to keep the sailors in good
health.

"No, High Priest." He said to himself, while nodding assuredly.

Chapter 3

As the 'Bull Head' was being taken over, the Imperial First Captain Peregene
Sakari was issuing the order to inspect the smoking vessel off in the
distance. Quickly the streamlined ship, with its three masts, cut through
the waves and would soon be upon the site. The two rear sails were lowered
as they slowed the approach and only the black sail with a buzzing yellow
hornet was left up while the men prepared to board. The 'Bull Head' was in
need of saving, and as the pirates spied the The Buzzing Hornet approach
they threw the captured, including Vinq, overboard to make a hasty retreat.
Blood from the vicious battle showed bright red in the salty blue around dead
bodies floating and knocking into 'The Buzzing Hornet'.A wide ladder made
of rope was cast over the side of the ship and Vinq grasped onto it and was
pulled up by Imperial sailors. He was exhausted from treading water and as
he leaned on the polished iron rails he watched as the dead were assaulted by
hammerhead sharks. Once upon the deck Vinq began tending to the other
sailors of the 'Bull Head', bandaging wounds, passing out blankets, and
applying poultices to injuries.He took no time to rest between sailors and
pushed on until all were accounted for.Vinq separated them each into neat,
orderly rows with enough space to walk around each of them on the deck while
not impeding the Imperial sailors as they prepared the sails of the three
masts. A shadow cast down upon Vinq from the third sail as he stared up at a
large cloud giant upon it and the strength it represented.

Chapter 2

Vinq went to his father to see where they had a connection in one of the big
cities.His father was a member of the merchants guild in Hamsah Mutazz
and luckily the harbor master of the Seaport owed him a favor. A ship would
take him to the city where he would rendezvous with a hired mercenary to
escort him safely to the guild.The ship, 'Bull Head' set sail from the bay
of Seantryn Modan upon the early in the morning when the fog was thick.By
mid day they were in the middle of the Aryth Ocean and soon to pass the Great
Reef. A trail of smoke could be seen in the distance and by the Captains
code the course was temporarily changed in case pirates had seized a ship of
his fleet. They let down the sails as they approached the vessel to discover
the main deck empty. Soon they discovered the smoke was oil soaked rags
stuffed in sand filled barrels.The ship was empty and appeared deserted.
Unbeknownst to the crew, two small rowboats had circled around 'Bull Head'
and were silently boarding the ship with roped hooks. Within half an hour
the ship was a battle ground. The clang of steel upon steel rang out as Vinq
took to hiding in the Captains quarters. He could only watch as the pirates
used brawn and brute strength to force the 'Bull Head' sailors into death or
unconsciousness. Vinq ran to the side of a fallen sailor and closes his eyes.
He focused all of his will for him not to die. The feeling brought blackness
to his eyes and a feeling of light-headedness made him stumble.The sailor
began to blink and coughed up a bit of blood before crawling away with Vinq
to safety. The surprise attack gave the pirates an advantage as the ship was
quickly seized.

Chapter 1

High in the Jade Mountains lived the boy Vinq. Son of a wealthy merchant
lord, he grew up with the luxury of servants, warm meals, and outdoor
latrines that flowed down hill to the peasant slaves fields. There was not
much to his life beyond learning and wealth. He would gaze out his window
and watch as the lesser folk spend the entire day working in the fields,
raising barns, or herding sheep. They looked like ants from his window. He
grew envious of the ants. Through his acquired wisdom he realized they had
purpose while he did not. Working gave them strength and their bodies gained
muscle.Vinq could only sit with his acquired knowledge and weak body,
longing for a use to focus his strength. While they gained strength through a
days work, Vinq would only gain a feeling of worthlessness. Being born free
was his advantage and it was time for him to take a stake of this world for
himself. He would find a way to leave the manor and gain his own strength
and inspire others. Glory would be his for the taking and his will would be
imposed upon others. If others he encountered didnt like it then he would
force them to.
