Chapter 7

In what is not a shock, the High Priest speaks of overthrowing the Empire. He believes
that he can create a stronger Empire. In my lifetime, I have never seen an Empire with a full
council and the strength of the Empire. I rarely see any that challenge the Empress with
the exception of the High Priest. Also, I believe the High Priest has struck a deal behind my
back with Cawr. This leaves me in a precarious position of having to either demote
or anathema Cawr. The only Imperial that would receive my vote is Faolai
for Emperor, but he does not seek the throne. Therefore, I will wait with
the current Empress and see the High Priest banished. There can be others to replace
him. Hopefully, not another drow as they are an arrogant bunch.

Chapter 6

The gamble to join the Empire has paid off. I have risen
quickly in power to the highest spot in my Sect and with an
aging Empress...... There may be an opportunity for a
greater chance. Being promoted and promised to be promoted by both Lords
in Empire was a grand honor. However, the Empire can offer chances
of greater power, but also chances to be thrown out.
Therefore, I have tried to maintain myself as close to the shadows and remain
quiet and let others do the speaking, especially the High Priest.
The Priest boasted before the new Empress how he was going to rise
and be crowned. I can not let that happen as he will promote a new council
which looks like Cawr, might be replacing me. However,
I have given Cawr, a task to collect the gold for his promotion
which I have not received and if I do not recieve it in an elven week.
I will "handle" one of the High Priest main confidants. I do not
wish to play my hand before I need to as that would alert the
High Priest to the knowledge that he will fail in securing my vote for
Emperor. However, the best way to weaken the High Priest may be to
remove his confidants.

Chapter 5

Throughout his life, Pandol has been friendly towards
Imperials. He has never actively hunted them, but has done
a few favors for them over time. He did not hunt them, as
they could possibly be a place that Pandol may find an
opportunity for power. With the recent events surrounding
Empire (for example, two Emperors disappearing from
power rather quickly), Pandol sees that there may be a
place to rise through the ranks to power. Therefore, he will
seek the bloodoath and citizenship. Hopefully, this will be
a decision that will open up more opportunities, rather than
one that weighs him down.

Chapter 4

Pandol has begun his search to find the items of power that
can bring him great power (special wands that are unique
to him). Though only finding one of his three, Pandol has
discovered other items (opportunities) though not as strong as
his items of power. They may work as adequate substitutes.
Being a "magical" duergar, he has had to find opportunities
that allow him to grow in power. Pandol's father told him
that in order to succeed to great power you must be "lucky."
However, "lucky" is not something creatures are born with
but it is something they can create. His father told him that
you must always keep your eyes open to Thera, as everyone
experiences some chance for greatness. The question lies in
whether Pandol can find and exploit such opportunities.

Chapter 3

Pandol was sent to the best trainers, both combat and
scholarly. Going to the best trainers allowed Pandol to
hone his strengths and attempt to cover his weaknesses.
Pandol quickly found out that his skill with weapons
though adequate put him on par with the weakest warriors.
Pandol would not accept being weak among the tribe as he
was determined for greater things. Even though Pandol
was below average in his warrior training, he was quite
adept (for a duergar) at his scholarly endeavors. Pandol
could quickly pick up arcane arts that escaped many
duergars. Pandol's capacity for learning an entire array of
arcane arts was limited by his mental capacity and
understood that he could never be a true "magician."
However, Pandol had read of many duergars who were
adequate with their weapons and excelled with the limited
spells a duergar could master that went on to be some of
the most feared duergars in Thera. Pandol sought to not
only walk in their footsteps but to extend his footsteps
beyond theirs.

Chapter 2

From the time Pandol was a little duergar, he had heard
stories of how his Dad was determined to find riches for
his family. His dad was driven by the desire to "have it
all", no matter the consequences. Pandol's oldest
brother died in a mine while his dad searched for his
riches. His death did not deter Pandol's father from
continuing his search. Pandol understood that in order
to make your way in life you had to want everything
and never stop your desires for more. In his pouch,
Pandol typically carries a full load and often must
give up something in order to carry another item.

Chapter 1

Born into a wealthy family, Pandol was the youngest
son. Pandol's dad was a speculator who traveled Thera
in search of the "big one". Pandol's dad was a miner
and that was all he knew. One day in the mountains
near Seantryan Modan, Pandol's dad and brothers
found the "big one." Pandol was born a year after the
big one was found. "Pan" comes from his dad favorite
tool in search of riches. While, "dol" comes from Dol
de Oro which was the name of the area where his dad
found his riches. Pandol's parents believed he was
destined for great things.
