Hudralon the Legend of the Battlefield, Apprentice of the Anvil
DescriptionDingy lochs of silvery hair, flecked with soot, flutter about with each measured movement of this forge hardened man. The silvery lochs become singed off below shoulder length and lead to a broad set of shoulders which swiftly taper downward beyond the torso to a seemingly miniscule waste line. Glistening amber eyes peer out from a, soot smudged, olive visage highlighted by vicious iron studs forming menacing eyebrows. Tiny ring shaped objects seem to pierce straight through his lips and cheek sharply. Upon this supportive frame of bone and sinew is lightly scorched pitch armor. A mottled silk cloth with interwoven adamantite fibers which gives it more utility for defense and fluidity, seems to ooze gray water and sweat. Several small hilts are seen protruding from a heavily modified and fortified smoke marred, knapsack which is wrapped in a blacksmith's tunic. Peering closely you discern some finer detail that....

RoleChapter 9 A Bloody Upbringing Added Sat May 30 09:10:55 2009 at level 8:--Biting, slashing and smashing one another, a pair of young cave fishers fight to the death, battling with determination not seen within any man. The battle takes place within a marked ring surrounded by dozens of jeering drow and duergar, who happily place bets on the winner. It began as two drow masters displaying their recently trained killing machines, and ended with horrific smelling foulness, and horrid blood-laced poison infiltrating the marred earthen arena. --A cave fisher trainer was the profession of Hudralon's uncle, and the man who helped raise him as his own. Unfortunately for him, he was also instructed and nurtured like those very cave fishers, trained for fighting, under the tutelage of his uncle. Having not a single parent, after his mother passed during labor, it seemed he was destined to be no where else. A brutally trained fighter who both enjoys inflicting pain upon himself and others, but despises losing any match. --His disposition is very similar to many drow as he is proud of his own talent and is often driven to great lengths to surpass his objective. It is this fiery spirit which compels him to reach perfection with virtually any of his abilities. As a child and young man growing up he faced many opponents and none more fierce than his rival, Drendulx, the closest thing he had to a friend. --These two young brawlers fought each other as well as many others in the arena, growing and learning with every battle, the two were nearly identical in skill. As the years past the two drow grew somewhat closer and more bitter rivals until one year Drendulx's growth hit a long plateau. As the months flew by, Hudralon grew and became ever stronger leaving his rival behind although soon this too would come to pass.

|
RoleChapter 8 A Bloody Upbringing (cont.) Added Sat May 30 09:19:50 2009 at level 8:--As all living things do within a certain amount of time, they grow, evolve, and adapt. The drow brawlers who were so slowly separated in skill had closed the gap within what seemed like days. Hudralon could not explain where his rival was gaining his newfound abilities but it did give him pleasure that they were so closely matched once again. --Fate, however, is a vengeful winch and this was not to last. The two drow had been matched against a pair of carrion crawlers and a baby fisher within the arena and as they were outnumbered, the match was dragging on. As they battled on, Hudralon noticed his partner growing weak, slow and sluggish, he was completely winded. It occurred so quickly that he didn't have a chance to act, Drendulx was struck down and devoured before he could drive his sword through the gullet of the massive crawlers. --As he lay there over the miniscule remains, he pondered the question of "What happened?" Then all the sudden it hit him, his friend had succumb to the weakness and blight of many. His partner had been relying on magic to keep up and had ceased to grow any further, resulting in his final demise. It was at that, he burst, overflowing with emotion, and slaughtering any whom he thought could have provided those incantations, cutting a bloody path to the surface away from his nightmare. He would prove to everyone, they aren't to be indulged.

RoleChapter 7 Finding the Forge Within. Added Mon Jun 1 17:01:33 2009 at level 20:--It often takes a great deal of time for a grievous wound to heal. The calloused mind and body of Hudralon has began to recover somewhat, from the tragedy he lived through within the confines of the underdark arenas. A more refined rage and burning fire is ignited inside his heart, to become truly strong has filled his being. He never wishes what happened to Drendulx to happen to himself or any other he has the slightest feelings for and has decided to spurn all forms of magic upon himself. --As tragic moments in a persons life are often the most influential, so is the case with Hudralon. After bursting through the underdark and up to the topside he has discovered rumors of people whom see things the way he does. Unbeknownst to him his life was about to find direction as he ran into a short and stout dwarf named Kalderseg, while in the quiet city of Valorian, and had a life altering chat. They spoke about the warriors guild, about enemies they face, and women they had seen, but then Kalderseg began speaking of a mighty forge and a glorious village. --When coming to matters of the forge, Hudralon, was somewhat versed as his uncle had often forged and strapped weapons to the fishers he trained. He understood the basics of the process and what could be achieved through it, however he had never considered the Noldarian smiths who forge people as well as weapons. As the two spoke, he began to understand the fundamentals of the use of a hammer and anvil, knowing the latter precept was more closely aligned to his beliefs. With a little direction from the dwarf he was ready to begin seeking this dwarven god, Thror Hammersong, warlord of the village.

RoleChapter 6 Finding a place to call Home. Added Mon Jun 1 17:05:59 2009 at level 20:--Setting off from the only place one has ever known as home leaves a mighty fine void to where one calls home. After his long chat with the perspective Noldarian, Hudralon understands his place to call home will soon be the village he spoke of. It is filled with the strongest and most courageous fighters within all of Thera and they share his distaste for magic. He didn't know how to get there, or how to join but he was determined to find out. --The search for the elusive village of barbarians didn't last long and soon Hudralon would be speaking to this fellow called Tahren about entering the village on his own. It is rumored that once fresh blood of a mage is upon ones hands, Tahren will know you and ask you of your desire. Knowing this Hudralon set out to find and spill more magi blood, for he wanted his right to say he resides among the strongest fighters to ever grace Thera. Training which occupies the majority of his time is supplemented with sporadic bouts of hunting magi and it wasn't long before he had some new blood on his hands. --While scouting the mountains south of Mortorn one fine eve, Hudralon caught a glimpse of a hunting party within the city of Akan. This party consisted of a pair of magi, one transmuter, one shapeshifter, and one assassin blindly following. They were all killing dwarves within the castle. He was biding his time within the mountains and snuck over just south of the castle itself, waiting for the opportune time to strike. Suddenly the moment was presented, he knew exactly where they were, and racing in, surprised the transmuter spilling his guts all over the castle floor. This day victory was his and soon he would be known as an applicant of the Village.

RoleChapter 5 Thoughts of the Forge and Village. Added Fri Jun 5 18:01:04 2009 at level 30:--People are as numerous as different types of fish in the sea, each with their own race, creed, religion, and path in life. As long as this never changes Hudralon will never run out of different people to smelt. He shapes his enemies as well as allies into what he sees fit, as some enemies simply need to be burned and some allies are in dire need of some tempering. Copper, brass, steel, human, giant, elf, each material has its own texture, and feel when being forged. A multitude of tools could be used during these processes but what is common to all is, the need to be fired and softened in the beginning before working. --Fire is a primary element within the world, and can be seen as a driving force, a warming sensation as opposed to cold, or a consumer which engulfs all around. For the longest time Hudralon simply used fire as his motivation, using it to build and move forward, but as he sat and spoke with Thror of the Noldar he came to realize he was overlooking the obvious. Fire can be both elemental as well as a feeling used to smelt not only materials but people too. He understood that he didn't have to wave a torch at his enemies for them to know the smelting flame and that his fire can reach beyond the physical into the minds and souls of those around him, purifying them. He realizes it will take an enormous amount of strength to complete the tasks before him and understands his challenge. --To be a person who forges souls is a challenging and daunting task for any who seeks it. One needs to be truly strong, mentally and physically to perform such a task. As a drow only recently reaching maturity, Hudralon, is growing into his peak of physical strength and tempers himself daily with new trials. His strength is massive and ever changing but little from his seemingly sinewy drowish body comprises its mass. The bulk of his strength is internal, through his mind, spirit and unending dedication to his craft, both as a warrior, and a smith. Fire and strength are among the ruling forces in his life but another looms within, as well.

|
RoleChapter 4 Thoughts of the Forge and Village. (cont.) Added Fri Jun 5 18:17:45 2009 at level 30:--Three principles, or tenants, govern the life of a Noldarian Smith and they are Fire, Strength, and Purity. It is the final tenant in which Hudralon finds a confusing interest. He has on many occasions bled himself, thrown his body through torturous training, and pierced his skin, implanting many rings and spikes. He feels all of these bring a feeling of purity to him, as if he were ridding himself of flaws and filth from within. His numerous battles bring a closer and more pure being from him, during each one. While his body and spirit are somewhat known and understood to him, yet the purity of others and certain metals escaped him. --Wether it's copper, iron, whitesteel or adamantite, each metal is imbued with unique characteristics. The purity of each of these metals is something Hudralon has debated for some time. Where copper and iron are natural elements whitesteel and adamantite are not, nor is any form of steel. So if these metals aren't natural, can they still be pure? He debates this question many times, still without full understanding but deciding that any material can be made more pure by smelting off the excess, and impurities, of that which isn't the core material. Thus he has decided for both metals and mortals, material makes little difference in purity, the only telling sign is the filth which litters it, and is hence the only determination of its' purity. --Hudralon's second love, aside from the forge resides with his distaste for magi and his desire for a place within the village. He avidly seeks and speaks with villagers and recently learned from Woldrun's lips, he can not be given a hut without the lords approval. To him, this is simply another trial, something he will use as a tool for his tempering. It matters not, if the corpses of drow or elven magi lie before him, nor if this happens from a hut or not, only his burning desire to continue and forge ahead, stronger than before. In his mind he is already, one, among them.

RoleChapter 3 Shades of Gray within Battle. Added Wed Jun 10 13:53:32 2009 at level 36:--Recent years have been tough on Hudralon, yet he pushes forward with every breath, attempting to use every setback as a pounding hammer, forging him stronger. His enemies tower over him within their guilds for the most part, and he faces them from all over. A multitude of adversaries from the fortress to the lowly loaner, dragging at the shirttails of their magi, bring the war to him. The numerous battles and trials he has placed upon himself seem to have forged his body out of iron and he weathers most trials with little ill effect. Perhaps it is his time without a hut which has accelerated his growth. As his future unfolds many twists and turns await. --As there are as many variations of people in Thera as there are stars in the night sky, Hudralon has come to understand the hearts and desires of many. So many of Thera's inhabitants are known to have "good hearts" but in the eyes of a drow this is rather foolish. People should be known by action rather than their blood and although he is prideful, often unremorseful, and many times bases his decisions off his own desires, he will never be known as anything other than evil or "dark hearted." These same actions as a storm giant or high elf however do not yield the same results. He finds humor in their logic and said desire to murder him without thought which is also considered evil, unless your a "light heart." He spends nearly as much time smelting these fools as, his true objective of, the magi and finds it fitting for them to be so in need of purification. --Conversations, brawls, and long lunches often comprise the moments when one truly gets to know the person they travel with. When it comes to the time in which Hudralon has spent seeking a hut, it seems to add up quickly. For over sixty years he has fought at the side of the village, never truly one of them, in their eyes. He has however spoke with and received recommendations from Byren, Lohik, Kylerah, Kalderseg, Breximar, Gahdak and Landser. He believes that these interactions help cement his place within their mind as being one of them and work to forge a stronger bond among them. A smile came to his face the day that Woldrun, the Commander, told him that he had permission to build him a hut. He looks forward to the defender teachings, secrets of first aid, and the insight into the herbal poultice which should compliment his way of brawling perfectly.

RoleChapter 2 A favorable Molding. Added Mon Jun 15 18:58:15 2009 at level 43:--Age breeds maturity and maturity leads to strength as well as wisdom. Through his many years on the face of Thera, Hudralon has grown and aged quite nicely, and in his eyes he is far beyond most of those around him. The lion's share of men and women within the village do not hold a candle to his dedication to his crafts, and he knows this, understanding their flaws. His skills within the warriors guild are slowly reaching their apex, his talent for shaping and molding those around him is growing extensively, but he still lacks the natural grace or inherent knowledge it takes to truly forge metal. The sounds made when partaking in any of these events are known by many and can change ones life. --The consistent "Ping" and "Clang" of swords and daggers as they strike their mark are music to a warrior's ear. These very sounds dance through Hudralon's head during each day and night, and serve as both his morning sun and evening moon. He spends many hours, days, months and even years honing his craft, weapon tactics, and his body. Luckily for him, he thinks, drow must be born of something tougher than flesh and bone. As his talent rises to new levels he finds that shaping those around him is much easier, as many are in awe when they first witness his ability. Choosing his position as a defender within the village has proven very beneficial and has both saved his life as well as aided him to kill. --Rhythmic song made by the pounding of many hammers, swung by many different races, and those of many different guilds is the life of a Nolarian. The Noldar, are experts at the basics of the forge, and are masters within their specific field. When Hudralon finally gained his chance to begin training with the Noldar he jumped at it. Thror now believes in him enough to have placed the mark of the hammer and anvil upon his body, promoting him to an apprentice of the Anvil. Knowing and building off what little he learned from his uncle and by watching Kalderseg, he has attempted to hone his own weapons and armor although he has yet to be successful. He doesn't completely understand his failure as his technique and form seem spot on to him.

RoleChapter 1 Trials by Fire. Added Sat Jun 27 19:10:03 2009 at level 51:--The loud clang and bang of melee combat, putrid stench of the plagued and dying, and the searing heat of elemental magic as they sizzle and scorch skin are conditions few will come to know. The greatest warriors in Thera know and understand all of these things better than anyone and Hudralon is no exception. During the last few years of his life he has come to know the pinnacle of the warrior's guild as well as nearly the peak in which he can raise his skills as a combatant. Titles and skills however do not make ones life easy, because when one is strong enough to take down a Mummy, everyone seems to want their chance to test wills. --Gruesome, gnarled, undead skeletons marred in decaying flesh are the descriptions some of Thera's most fearsome magi, liches and mummies. A fight with these creatures of the night often means a brawl with minions of darkest night, rotting zombies, fiendish ghouls, and putrid golems following their master's bidding. To accomplish victory in fights such as these Hudralon has began to learn all he can of how to defend against them and how to combat their master's. Having fallen to them and their mortal followers in combat he wishes to accept no losses but understand that they are his drive and temperance. The adversities in which one faces will decide if they break or temper, becoming nearly impossible to destroy. --As a prism will divide light into many colors, the strongest magi are divided as well. On one side resides the Liches and Mummies, while at the elemental end resides those known as invokers. Masters of elemental magic, they are the foul benders of Thera's own energy. Like the Undead masters, they too, challenge Hudralon in combat. His many skirmishes with these elemental benders are seldom but brutal, many of which ending in his swift retreat and some with theirs. The only constant within each of these battles is the will and strength of iron tempered into Hudralon, purified by fire, and tempered deep inside the cool quenching lull between battles.
