Trotat Dur-chai the Hand of the Unseen
DescriptionA small, nondescript arial is here. Jet black wings seem to absorb all light, making for a most unnatural appearance. His white wingtips are adorned with blood-red medallions, each trailing a small silver ribbon. Dark eyes offer a hard stare from his avian features. His hawklike beak appears to have been broken often and seems poised in a permanent sneer. The arial appears to be clothed in whatever armors he happened upon, with no continuity from one piece to another.

RoleChapter 1 Goals Revisited Added Tue Aug 24 18:00:02 2004 at level 51:The taking of the Thieves' Guild for my own will not come to fruition. Hipsin has destroyed all chance of that with his absence and our guild has grown strong in its own right. I see no reason to discontinue the war with the Galadon guild. Their weakness and lack of respect causes us no small annoyance and their members need to pay their dues to the victors. Calheil now knows of the plans to dethrone him, yet he still views me as his one of his best. I will bide my time.Such patience is difficult for one of my race, but I feel that the guild will one day be mine if I exercise discretion.
Other notes:
Corilanth is no more. Of those that remain, Vezran I believe has the best chance to be Chancellor, followed by Krollos. Aytak will serve under those appointed above him, but will not rise to any position of leadership himself. and Liateo remain absent.
A shadowy voice seems to have taken an interest in me. I have spoken with it on three occasions, yet I still do not know what it seeks. It does, however, seem quite interested in killing and blood, which I find interesting.

RoleChapter 2 Goals for the near future Added Fri Aug 6 19:41:22 2004 at level 49:One of my goals should soon come to fruition, as the Galadon Kingpin has offered to make me the head of my guild in Hamsah in order to cease the thieves' war. Hipsin says he has no desire to fight any of the Fold and wishes the Bandit King Calheil thrown down, with me in his place. Lord Qaledus has received the plan well and approves. As Bandit King, I will be able to use my thieves as a spy network for the Chosen. I hope in earnest that Calheil will accept the transition with grace, since he has proven more than useful on several occasions and it would be a pity to lose so valuable a guild member.
A goal that has been met: Sartaganeos has failed his quest, while Corilanth now walks the lands as a mummy lord. As I predicted, he is a powerful ally and heeds my wishes for the most part. I keep him happy with shiny trinkets and magical wands that I happen to obtain. Signs point to him as the next Chancellor. Of the other two magi in consideration, the transmuter possibly has a chance and the invoker, in my opinion, next to none. The younger magi present no threat at this time.
The Archmage punished Jugorath for showing up only with the odds in his favor, and I can't say he didn't deserve it. Having walked the lands alone for so long after Kungkruk's death, this event gives me no small amount of satisfaction. The Archmage further hinted that other expulsions would follow, and I have a feeling that certain thieves will not be with us for much longer.
At times the magi's caution sickens me.The invoker, though useful, could be a force has not made any sort of reputation for himself that I can see.The transmuter would be far more effective if he had been under the tutelage of someone such as Dralyth. Jugorath's foolishness has been costly in that it has given them even more of an excuse to look down upon us "soldiers." Something is needed to tip the scales back in my favor, and at the same time give them some backbone in the face of the enemy. The Ccul'gra abhor the weakness recently shown within the Fold. Would that the Gods consider me the Advisor of the Chasm. I would certainly not disappoint them.

RoleChapter 3 Another Chapter Added Fri Jul 23 16:16:02 2004 at level 41:So the mighty taskmaster has fallen leaving the Chasm seemingly leaderless. With his passing, the grain is truly being separated from the chaff. No longer do we see the face of our healer. Erratic as his performance was, its absence is deeply felt. The elder warriors and magi, weaned for so long from Kungkruk's apron strings, could not suffer to live in the shadow of his passing.
For a long time, I have walked alone among the Chasm. Seeking to learn but without the means, I instead devote my efforts toward bringing low those who would stand in the way of the Fold. My blades have tasted the blood of Village barbarian and Imperial bootlicker alike.
One day I awaken to find new blood within the Fold. Cold blood pumped with hearts of pitch, two fledgling necromancers present themselves to me. The means to advance are before me, and I ascend the ladder in the eyes of my guildmaster. One of the necromancers surpasses me and reaches his pinnacle, just short of undeath. His arrogance is unmatched our late healer pales in comparison. True that an undead lord would bring great power to the Fold, yet the obeisance required by this one would in my eyes render me no better than the blind fools of the Empire.
The younger necromancer is much more pliable and speaks as though we are equals.Should he become undead, I foresee no problem with that one. The current spectre must fail in his quest. To put power into his hands is to take it away from mine. I am slowly subverting the others of the Chasm to my view, though in truth, the spectre does a fine job of that himself.

RoleChapter 4 Trotat Added Mon Jun 28 21:58:06 2004 at level 33:Character premise:
Trotat is a coveter - he always wants what he cannot have. Wealth, power, and contentment are all things that he greatly desires. Someone put it best when they said, "It's a funny thing, killing . You take away everything he has, and everything he's ever going to have." Trotat is going to abide by that statement as best he can, fully realizing that death is often no permanent thing in Thera.
Much in the way an anti-paladin would think, his view is that a person's power resides in both the things that they have accumulated as well as the strength of their being. Either one (or especially both) of these traits are coveted by the arial. A naked, weak enemy who has been slain repeatedly is undesirable, but a weak enemy dripping gold coins is as coveted as a strong enemy with nothing but the clothes on his back.
At the same time, it's like having a bottomless hole in one's middle. As much as Trotat tries to take from others, that hole can never be filled. It is the realization of this that makes him so bitter towards others. He tries his best to hide it, but his calm exterior often gives way to jealous or impatient rage.
Trotat came to the Chasm in search of allies. The coming of the Ccul'gra and the darkness that will wash over the land is really as good as cause as any to him, just so long as he is at the top of the food chain when all is said and done. To that end, he will do what is necessary to facilitate the Coming while simultaneously continuing his impossible quest. Perhaps if he does his part, the wealth and power so unattainable at present just may finally fall right into his lap. One thing is for sure though: nothing in all of Thera has offered him a chance like this.
