Salazia Vittek the Whisper
DescriptionA tiger on two feet! The resemblance to the great cat is obvious in the fur pattern of this felar woman, with an orange base color laced with deep black stripes and a fluffy white underside. She stands no taller than five feet, her body in a balance between lush feminine curves and toned muscle, with her choice of a fairly snugly-fitting attire doing little to distract from the details. Behind her, a ringed tail weaves back and forth as if it had a life of its own.
Brilliant green eyes study the environs from a round feline-like face with full lips, stripy cheeks and a white chin, framed by a mane of past-shoulder length black hair through which perky ears poke out. A stern look often lingers on her features, though at times it is replaced by a less harsh expression, more fitting for her fairly pleasant appearance.

RoleChapter 6 Salazia's Story, pt. 1 Added Tue Jan 6 19:21:49 2009 at level 20:My first memory?
I remember something about my real Mama and Papa... just a little. Mama used to sing for me, I can't remember the words, but the tune, it still comes back to me sometimes. I remember her smell too, something flowery, some kind of perfume. She was always so warm and used to purr while holding me. Now Papa, he didn't sing or hold me that often, but the smell I remember... briny. Like the sea.
Then there's little else, other than sadness. I remember how Papa Vittek took me in, he didn't ever share with me much what was his deal with my real parents, and what happened to them, but the way I understood it they had tread on the wrong toes and ended up paying for it, and he had owed them something and seeing no way of paying back he took me under his wing.
So yes, Papa Vittek was always my "real" Papa, even if he was human. I miss his silly mustache and lopsided turban. He got me fed, clothed and brought up the best he could... on the streets. He was a petty pickpocket and handyman, doing a variety of odd jobs here and there... at least we had a hideout to spend our nights in. He taught me quite a few things about life, the world and everything, things of common sense that might escape folks studying in actual schools. Of course with some things he had the problem of "don't do what I do, do as I say", he always reminded me to stay away from being in debt to someone, since it'd come back to bite you in the tail later.
That's just what happened to him. Papa loved to gamble, and that had landed him owing a great deal of money to a man by the name of Dezeem Almazz. Someone with a fairly good standing in the Hamsah Mu'tazz thief guild, quite a deal of henchmen, and a few little "businesses" to run. He was just the kind of a person you don't want to come knocking at your door in the middle of the night with a few of his boys. They took Papa away, he assured me everything would be fine even then. Too bad he was wrong.
Almazz didn't like to lose out on a deal, so he took me instead. I wasn't even fourteen, and even though I thought I was all grown up and prepared for the world I couldn't imagine anything like what he had in mind.
He... added me to one of his businesses. An "exotic ware" for "gentlemen" looking for something "special". And to make sure I wouldn't make any scenes, I was shot up with what I later learned they called "dreamsee extract". It's a bit like opium, makes you just feel like there's no worry in the world... and thankfully because of that I don't remember a whole lot of the countless times I was defiled and molested.

RoleChapter 5 Salazia's Story, pt. 2 Added Tue Jan 6 19:23:48 2009 at level 20:That was my life for three whole years, a cloudy drugged haze, broken by moments of painful clarity of wanting more dreamsee, begging on my knees for it. Eventually it stopped working that well, too. They had stuffed me so full of it that I'd started tolerating it, a bit by bit being able to think more clearly even after getting a dose, and even if I wasn't in agony because of the terrible craving for dreamsee, it wasn't nice to be able to focus on the state I was in. One of the things I learned from Papa was that there're no white knights in shining armor in this world who ride in to rescue you, you'll have to do it yourself.
I put together a little plan to get away, and without going into that much detail, it worked. They relied a bit too much on having me drugged and didn't secure their operation... too bad there was no way I could get back at them. Almazz had the local guards around his little finger, so I had no choice but to just look forward and try to forget about the past. I'm still steering clear of the Hamsah Mu'tazz guild, though, just to make sure I don't run into him. Even if he wouldn't recognize me the way I am now, I might lose my temper and do something those corrupt no-good watchmen wouldn't let slide.
And as for the damn dreamsee herb... even if I've gotten away from the other ghosts of the past, I'm stuck with that for the rest of my life, no doubt. I need a little every few days, that's as far as I've been able to go... any attempt to drop the habit hasn't gone well at all. At least it doesn't mess me up like it once did.
So, the lesson learned? If you're down, someone will always kick you, that's just the way the world works. Maybe it wouldn't have to, but it's nonsense to think that anything short of brute force will fix anything.

|
RoleChapter 4 Seething Added Sun Jan 25 18:21:34 2009 at level 29:Ohhh it makes me mad. Seeing someone like *her* slither her way to the top ranks of the guild, without probably lifting a claw to do it... lift her skirt, maybe! It just gets to me right here, seeing someone just have everything handed to them, while other people like me have to actually work for what we have, and what we someday dream to have!
No, I'm not just raging at the wind, I'm talking about that Harlot, oh I'm sorry, Herald of course, the only one who's getting in my way for the second-in-line spot of the Guild... you're asking why the second, why not go for all the way?
Because the higher you are, the harder you fall, and the more likely you are to fall, too. Maybe I'm a willess slave or something, lacking of ambition, but I still hate a gamble... and if I can be just a bit below the top, I'm safe from the worst, while still having a great view over the countryside so to say. I want to be the right hand, doing the pulling when something needs to be pulled, the feared and respected henchman behind the big Boss.
But I refuse to even consider being second-in-command to someone like ... *her*! So if it's the last thing I do, I will make sure she's never the one who'll take lead of the guild, and if I fail and she ends up taking over... then it's the road for me. Maybe I could convince the Boss to take action against her before she gets a chance to even try, throw her out in the gutter where she belongs, begging for free hand-outs.

|
RoleChapter 3 Agony Added Thu Jan 29 12:39:16 2009 at level 30:This must've been the worst month of my life... well, the worst month I can remember clearly, all too damn clearly. That's because I've been clean all the time, without a bit of dreamsee.
So the boss seems to be far too smitten by that Herald girl... no turning his head about her, I guess, but at least I think I managed to get him see some sense that I'm far more qualified for being his right hand gal. But he said my... habit was a weakness he didn't want to see in someone he'd count on, so, I had no option but to drop it. I think the fever's finally gone as well as the feeling of having a thousand little bugs under my fur and skin, and I haven't actually lost feeling in my limbs for a week now, so I guess the worst is over... can't say I'd still feel like a winner, though. But I won't let the boss hear a single word of complaint. And there's no denying it, in the end it's better that I'm off that stuff, though at least right now I still have my doubts whether torturing myself like this was the right thing to do... ugh!
Now here's to hoping he doesn't think of any other challenges, at least ones as bad as this one. Turns out he was the one behind most of the money that... beloved guildsister of mine had been putting in to stay ahead of me, so that would count as the *first* challenge... of course he says he's not helping her any longer, but I sometimes wonder if I can fully trust the boss's honesty. But come what may, I'm still in the running... and further than ever.
I'll get there yet.

RoleChapter 2 Rough racing Added Thu Feb 12 17:18:00 2009 at level 32:Maybe I shouldn't have dropped both drinking and taking dreamsee right at the same time, but at least the worst is over now. Like I said to boss, it's like I had both my legs broken, and then threw away the crutches both at once... it was kind of painful to get back into the habit of running instead of limping around all that sudden. There's no way around it though, I'm in a race, and limping won't get me to the finish line... not with that damn Herald girl having someone carry her half the way, too!
Feels good to be the one in lead, though, at least when it comes to pure wealth. I don't even get the twitchy shaky feeling either, and I didn't need to go back to my emergency stash of dreamsee even once. That gave me enough confidence and determination that I decided to take that gamble I'd been dreading for a long while, too... yeah, the joining the Tribunal part. I really was dreading that I might lose everything I worked for in the guild, what with the duty assignments all over Thera, but luckily boss was able to pull a few strings and arranged for me to stay posted in our beloved Galadon! That involved having to talk with so many people in a row, though, that I think I used up my entire year's supply of words in one go... guh. At least they seemed to appreciate them and my attitude, well, maybe except that elf paladin. It sounded like it was pulling teeth for him to talk to me, but I won even him over, hah. The others didn't mind my sort of mercenary approach to the whole Tribunal thing, what with the guaranteeing prosperity to have something to feed mine own off of... reasonable folks. Shouldn't be too much trouble to work with them.
So, what's next then? What's next is that I should try to... reach the finish line. I'll get boss to fall for me yet, I can see him teetering already... he just needs to let go of that silly kitten and come to the real woman instead! Just a few nudges more and he'll be mine!

RoleChapter 1 Chinks in the armor Added Sat Mar 7 13:32:00 2009 at level 40:It's always something... if I've got no poison in my veins making me weak, then it's my damn heart. I should've just taken the bloodoath to kill the last bit of my feelings!
I guess I have to stop lying to myself, it's not just "dedication" I feel for the boss, but I... I'm in love, damn it. Even if he's sometimes creepy with his aspirations and can be a real pain with being so... stiff when it comes to showing what he feels, but I'd still follow him to hell and back if it was up to me. And I'd follow him even if he did get through with his harebrained scheme of finding immortality in undeath like he told me... even if it'd kill me inside to see that.
I was so ready that he'd throw me out on the curb and blackball me from the guild when I... exchanged some heated words with him about what I think after he told me that, but he didn't. I guess that's the strongest proof I can get of what he thinks of me.
And this Magistrate business? Sometimes I feel like poking my ears out, with the way people are so ready to cry injustice after they've tried to go on a murderous spree and got caught doing it! If I had my way, I'd leave the investigating and listening to their whining to the others and just focus on stabbing them in the face myself, but then again, having to listen through that is what inspires me into violence... hah.
It sure can be hard to find balance within, no wonder those Nexans don't seem to do too well finding it in the world.
