Chapter 5

Jolindar's parents were slain when he was young. He had grown up in a town
under a mountain lake, in close proximity to a dwarven clanhold. He was in
the woods one day when a furious storm kicked up. Instead of trekking home,
he took shelter in the boughs of a wayward pine. Reveling in the storm, he
walked into the rain, moving to stand atop a large boulder in a clearing as
the lightning began to strike. He was about to head home when suddenly the
lightning began to ball and dance about him. As he stared into the arcing
energy, he was granted a vision of his home, destroyed by orcs.Enraged, he
tried to run home, but the lightning struck a branch off a tree, knocking him
senseless.

When he awoke, he rushed to the lakeside village, but it was too late. Orcs
had destroyed everything. Though he was filled with loss, he also carried a
sense of wonderment. The storm had saved him, first showing him his danger,
and then preventing him from rushing to his death. It was then that their
dwarven friends found him. As he was but a young boy, they helped raise him
as one of their own. Jolindar grew to love the darke ale, smokey halls and
brusque yet kind nature of the dwarves, yet as he grew he longed for more.
He missed the Storm, the Sky.

When he was old enough, he bid Clan BattleMug his farewells, assuring them
he'd return someday. His hatred for orcs was strong as his love of the
storm, and he was resolved to go out and make a difference in the world.

Chapter 4

Much has occurred in Jolindar's life since venturing forth from his mountain
home, yet his values and drive have not diminished. Understanding the storm
that saved his life, and how the Storm in general shapes this land is of
great importance to him. As such, he has sought out the Lady of the Storm,
Captain Neltouda, and has become a stowaway on her ship of Storm.

He has also joined the Outland, embracing the Storm to further the Return of
Thar Eris. Though he bears no ill will to the dwarven people, and will not
hunt them, he has put that behind him in favor of the greater good. The
codes of law, the codes of paladins, all he felt let the darkness be too
comfortable, and impeded the freedom demanded by the Storm.

His captain has bid him to consider how he will inspire those around him.
Jolindar has long considered himself somewhat of an outcast, being a giant
with a dwarven accent an attitude, who now has set himself somewhat against
the dwarves. Yet upon considering it, he believes his first step is to lead
by example. He is resolved to show those of the light, those who merit it,
kindness, aid and respect, showing the succor the storm can lend to overly
dry plants and lands. Conversely, he believe he must step up his attempts
(and success at) hunting the foes of Thar-Eris, and those of the darkness. He
believes he must embody the wrath of the Storm, showing that it is
unyielding, unforgiving, and unstoppable.

Chapter 3

The decades have come and gone for Jolindar like clouds drifting on the wind.
He has evolved, like a mid night into a rainy morning, from a headstrong
youth to a steady-handed veteran. In some ways he is pleased, for he
believes he has done a good job of showing the twin faces of the storm: wrath
and succor.

Yet it is not enough, and because of that the lightning still dances, fueling
his drive. He considers himself relatively intelligent, yet know he has not
done his Captain justice. While he believes his name has brought some
measure of fear to the Storm, he knows he has not been as pious or vocal as a
good acolyte should. Though he considers himself more a crew member than
servant, he has resolved to do more to spread Her name across the lands.

Some lessons have been bitter. Facing the eternally evil liches has wounded
his spirit, but it remains unbroken. Watching the Empire slowly encroach
across the land turns his stomach, and he fights it as best he can. It is a
time of flux for Jolindar, yet the one constant is his drive. Thankfully,
those fires have not yet begun to dim.

Chapter 2

After several meetings with the Captain, Jolindar, well into his middle age,
has been granted the chance to be a full-share deckhand. Yet it was not
without a stern warning: he had been one sided in his attempts to inspire
with the storm. Though his physical prowess in fighting had been adequate
enough to teach his foes to fear the storm, he had not done enough to inspire
hope in the renewal and rebirth aspects that every Storm brings.

As such, he made a vow to himself to try to inspire through words, and to
lavish more vocal praise on the Captain. To that end, and with no small
amount of good timing, he happened upon his kinsman Nian. The young warrior
seemed promising, but did not know where to find the Maiden. So Jolindar
spent a good amount of time with the youth, showing him the ship, and passing
on the wisdom learned and earned from being a stowaway himself for so very
long.

He did not do this for selfish reasons, taking joy in knowing he was helping
a fellow stormkin, a fellow warrior, and fellow stowaway, yet he found no
small amount of satisfaction in it. He hopes privately that he will be able
to channel this experience, and become an inspiration as a teacher and
mentor, as well as a fighter. As a deckhand of the Captain should.

Role

Chapter 1

More seasons have come and gone for Jolindar, the age wreathing him, leaving
only what is tough. He has lost friends, chief among them Ceyraia the Warden,
whom he misses dearly, though it has not embittered him. He has been passed
over to replace her with Calue, a ranger he does not know. While truly
frustrated, he tries to serve the Ancients still, and inspire others with his
dedication and willingness to help, though it is simply not as easy as it
once was.

Simply put, he has become a bit disenchanted. The same back and forth, the
same terrible, spiteful people in the Spire, the same silence from the
Ancients. It has taken its toll on the aging giant, and the growing silence
from his captain has done nothing to lift his spirits.

He will fight, aid and die, but has lost his hope that anything will change.
It is a morose time in his long life.
