Kreo the Savvy Operator, Kingpin of Galadon, Shadow Dweller

Chapter 11

Kreo is an orphan, he was brought up in the shelter for Orphans in Balator
and there he saw many horrors. He was one of very few lucky orphans who
survived the place as there were almost constantly duergars, giants or drows
around killing them. Kreo quickly learned how to hide in the shadows and to
stay out of the way from these, in his eyes, powerful creatures.

As soon as he got the chance he fled the Orphanage for the great city of
Hamsah Mutazz. Here he first heard about the guild of pickpockets and the
possibilities of wealth seemed to be endless. So, he learned what he could
about it and then approached the guildmaster of the Galadon guild and was
accepted as a member.

Due to Kreos poor upbringing he is extremely determined to never be poor
again. Gold and legendary artefacts is what interests him now, power is not
important, its just a tool to become wealthier. He wishes to become the
richest man in Thera so that he can retire in luxury.

He recently struck an alliance with Satebos the lich, who will sponsor Kreos
to become the next Kingpin. Its a well thought out plan since having only
the Lich as an ally there will be that much more targets to rob.

Kreos has no boundaries at all, the only thing that matters is to become
rich.

Chapter 10

Kreo is in trouble. His plans to become the next Kingpin is falling apart.
His empire contacts has not been seen for a while, and the village giant seem
to never get enough gold to him. Every day Levi gets closer to the top
position. And Gaorloch is hopelessly ahead.

Kreo contacted the outlanders since they should be interested to have someone
else but a tribunal as Kingpin. This meeting didnt go to well because of a
certain elven bard. They demanded that he met with Qaledus and discuss his
plans. Of course all promises he has made to aid the outlanders are
worthless, he will from time to time throw them a bone when it fits him, but
its all a game. Greed, everything to become rich.

The outlanders idea to contact Qaledus though is not a bad one, Kreo will try
to arrange that somehow. And discuss his plans with the lord of thieves,
hopefully itll impress him.

Chapter 9

Kreo have been forced to abandon several of his cunning plans as many of the
ones he has been conning have passed on. Igbah, Kostyan, Nizidrayt and
Gjrujzakfa among many. Instead he has to focus even harder on the few that
are alive, Satebos for one. Though he has managed to acquire a good sponsor
from the Nexites, Karg the giant.

Though he most recent success have been deceiving Humbert, the storm giant.
He managed to fool the poor giant into sponsoring him with as much as fifty
gold coins. And it took quite some time before the giant figured out his
mistake.

Kreo have also met with Lord Daevryn, in a contest among thieves where he
came in second place. Though there were only two contestants, but Kreo
wouldnt ever admit to getting the last place.

After this contest Kreo had a long discussion with Sharricci, the only person
Kreo some how feels something for. Hes unsure what it is, but when he did
steal from her in the contest he refrained from stealing anything costly and
just stole a canteen, he has never shown such odd behaviour before. The
discussion ended up without any discussion, except that theyll ask Glinar if
they can be Kingpin and Queenpin together, but Kreo doubt it, and is a bit
reluctant in sharing the power with Sharricci, even if he, oblivious to it,
is in lover with her.

Though Kreo can feel the taste of the power now, he has also spoken to a
young gnome in the guild, who will vote for him if and when he becomes the
appropriate rank.

Chapter 8

Recently Kreo has been thrown back and forth between luck and bad luck It
all started out when taking a wrong turn while waylaying a party of imperials
in Organia. Kreo fell down into the bowels of earth, unable to get out of
there he concluded that he had to take his own life. He did And then the
world went black.
When he awoke again he was naked and out of money. He just couldnt remember
what had happened, everything had just gone black. Kreo quickly decided to
forget this as waking up naked and broke almost never means anything good
happened.

Not long after that Sharricci awakens, and not long after Leenalee tells Kreo
the bad news. Sharricci is now sponsored by the fortress. Kreo was counting
on her vote, and now suddenly Kreo is left behind in the race. Most likely
Sharricci will obtain the vote from Gaorloch, there are now two choices for
Kreo.

1: Get extremely high donations to impress Lord Qaledus and bypass the
voting.
2: Persuade a few younger members to vote for him when the time comes, and
sponsor them to become elites.

To Kreo the first option sounds safer really, as its hard to trust another
in the guild. Kreo immediately starts writing missives to all his sponsors,
telling them of the new complication with the fortress meddling.

While doing this he gets closer to this Leenalee, who claims to be the
richest mortal on Thera. And she has decided she wants Kreo as Kingpin. Fair
enough Kreo thought, and suddenly Leenalee hade donated 2000 gold coins to
Kreo, putting him far ahead of his competitors.

This is the route Kreo has taken, now he must continue on it.

Chapter 7

A cloaked figure is standing in the shadows at the market square in Galadon,
eyes gazing out over the crowded area.

I have become Kingpin, the first of my goals since I decided what path to
walk. A big task to complete, but nothing compared to the task ahead of me.
Becoming the Kingpin of Kingpins, leader of all thieves belonging to a
guild.

A flash of white teeth as the cloaked figure lets a wide grin pass his face.


Ive got the power, Ive got the girl. No doubt Sharricci is mine. Shes a
fine prize, and her skills and talents will come to good use when I will
become the Kingpin of Kingpins...

The cloaked figure suddenly takes a quick step out between two stands in the
market, so quickly that you almost think that you imagined it. As he returns
to the he is counting the coins from a fat coin purse while muttering
something to himself.

She must not know though, what allegiance I seek, what powers I will call...
None must know...

Chapter 6

Kreo have had a meeting with the Chancellor of the fold. The chancellor had
quickly seen through Kreos plans and refused him a place within the fold.
Not that this made Kreo overly upset but it did annoyed him that he hadnt
been able to manipulate himself to where he wanted for once.

Something strange has been happening lately, Kreo has begun to get real
strong emotions for Sharricci. Kreo still denies it and claims to himself
that he is only using her for his own personal gains. If this continues there
is a chance of Kreo either rejecting Sharricci as he realizes what is
happening or he might succumb to his love and ask her to marry him.

His first goal for the moment though is to reach the pinnacle of his guild.
And after that, he will begin his manipulations to obtain power over the
other thief guilds.

Chapter 5

Kreo has decided. He has learned that he loves Sharricci, not only does he
see her uses to him and his causes, but he has realized that shes a
formidable partner to spend his life with. So now his greed has been extended
to cover her as well. Shes now a part of his personal goals and means. He
asked her to marry him once he has united all the thief guilds under his
ruling. And as he had hoped, she accepted.

Recently his sponsors have been absent, which has left Kreo with the lack of
funding for his operations. He has even been forced to do some regular
trading to get the gold necessary of late, if you dont count the 500 gold he
wasted gambling.

That might pose a future problem for Kreo. He also waits to speak with the
Cardinal who might have a very interesting offer for Kreo, she wishes to buy
Kreos soul. Kreo wont mind unless it hampers his abilities to succeed with
his plans.

Chapter 4

Kreo has met with the cardinal. It was lengthy, and it did put some thoughts
in Kreos head. Not so much that hell start seeking redemption, yet. But it
might be a possibility in the future. If something happens that can convince
Kreo that he would benefit more in being kind and less evil.

Maybe if one had a little bit more friends, and a bit less enemies. Or at
least a few customers that one hasnt keep an eye on constantly The whole
conversation left Kreo with a strange feeling that maybe this time, he isnt
the one doing the swindling.

Now is the time, he really needs to find lord Qaledus, to seek his advice and
guidance. Maybe he isnt walking the right path for the line of work he does.
Even though it has served him well this far.

Chapter 3

After spending years trying to get in contact with lord Qaledus and as the
years have passed by Kreo has begun to give up. When suddenly one day, as he
is speaking with lord Glinar, Lord Enlilth appears out of nowhere.

Kreo has never heard anything about this god before. But as the duergar god
speaks Kreo notices that somehow, the god seem know exactly what drives him.
Everything hes says seem to make sense and he even offers Kreo a contract on
Darman. Even though the lord only answered the call Kreo made about a certain
gift, Kreo still feels chosen. Maybe, just maybe, this god could prove
powerful enough to aid Kreo in his task of taking over Theras thief guilds.

Kreo will now try to learn as much as he can about lord Enlith to try and
figure out if his ways are a path that Kreo could take to increase his power
and wealth.

Chapter 2

After that first talk with lord Enlilth, Kreo was curious. After learning a
little about the lord Kreo decided that this might be worth pursuing. So he
contact the great lord once again. This time lord Enlilth and Kreo spoke more
of the ways that followers of Enlilth walk. Lord Enlilths final words left
Kreo thinking. He asked Kreo what would be left once Kreo is dead? Then what,
have he truly accomplished? Maybe nothing Kreo thought, what if people where
to remember me...

A few hours later Kreo speaks with Sharricci about this conversation. They
both agree that they need someone to take over after them, someone else to
pick up Kreos mantle as Kingpin of Kingpins... They need a child, their own or
someone to adopt.

Chapter 1

After a third meeting with lord Enlilth, Kreo is left with even more
questions and thoughts in his head. After spending half his life trying to
bring chaos by disturbing rules, he has realized that what he really has been
doing is disturbing laws and rules to set his own laws and rules. And not
only that, he has realized that all he has to account for will be forgotten
once he is dead...

As he has finally become as rich as he always dreamed of being he has found
it not to be enough. And after seeing the spot as shadow lord is open in the
empire, he has considered to bribe the current empress into granting him that
spot.
Lord Enlilth warned him about this though, that the guild might not take
lightly on him picking up that mantle and that if he truly is certain that he
will follow an orderly path, it might have some consequences on his skills
Though Kreo is certain that skills isnt of importance, his intellect is what
has gotten him to where he is today, it is his intellect that will take him
further.

After having a long talk with his fianc, Sharricci, Kreo only has two things
left on his mind, what can the empress offer him? And will his guild revolt
on him? He must take some steps to prevent that.

He has also decided that he will pursue the teachings of lord Enlilth,
hopefully earn his mark some day, it is the least he can do for a lord that
has given him such inspiration.
