Aiyanna Telrunya the Torrent of Courage, Harbinger of Thar-Eris
DescriptionCatching your eye a moment, you pause briefly to examine the being before you. She is obviously one of the arial race, judging from her avian features. A gracefully curving beak adorns her face, curving sharply down at its tip. Above it, you find yourself looking into her brilliant emerald eyes, whose green depths reveal nothing of the thoughts within. A long train of feathers flows down her scalp, merging into the plumage of her great wings. Though brilliantly colored, it appears something has been rubbed into the plumage to dull their shine. By the way she composes herself, it is obvious that this creature has been trained in the intricacies of war. Her slender and muscular form hints at a raptor-like quickness.

|
RoleChapter 8 The Emperor Added Sat Jul 5 14:54:14 2008 at level 1:"My Lord, I do not wish to be stationed so far away from my wife and my unborn child. Not at this time," a tall dark feathered arial said. This arial stood proud and strong, and he seemed quite proficient in the spear he was holding in an upright position. His clothing suggested that this arial was well-travelled, though he bore an aura of nobility.
"And the safety of our city should be compromised because you wish to be with your wife when the child is born?" a regal looking arial replied sternly. This arial was sitting upon a massive throne adorned with the most beautiful gems you ever saw. His clothing, although appearing very well made(not to mention expensive), covered him in a mismatch of colors. This creature enjoyed showing his worth, but had little to no concept of matching clothing.
"I do not wish to anger you, my Lord, but you would have me stationed there for three years. My child could be born any day. My wife should not have to take up the burden of upbringing our only chick," the tall arial said apologetically. "Ask someone else to take my place," the arial added quickly.
"No one is willing to do so, and you are our best scout, it is important you are stationed there. I'll need my best there."
"What threats would we have to worry about in the Open Plains? I have told you that the neighboring elves from Darsylon are not likely to attack, and any attack from the orcs would have to go through Voralian City before they could head north."
The arial emperor raised his hand to silence the noble-looking soldier. "Silence! It is necessary to know of any threat near the Open Plains."
The tall arial nodded slowly and then said, "And of my wife and unborn child?"
"Take your wife with you, if it matters so much. But you are to be stationed there, and that is an order."
"If there is a threat from the Open Plains, I would put my child and wife into danger. Surely you care about your people. There are others that would take my place," the tall arial replied.
"By your own admission, there will not be much danger from the Open Plains. Now go, you are trying my patience," the emperor said sternly.
"But, my Lord-"
"Remove him from my sight, and if he still resists my orders throw him in the empty cell. Any subject of mine will not question my decisions, as much as he has." Two arial guards, wielding spears escorted the tall arial outside of the palace. Later in the day, the arial decided that he would rather travel to the Open Plains(despite having a bad feeling about it all) with his wife, then spend some time in a dank cell.

#21436, "Aiyanna's Role Chapter 7"
|
RoleChapter 7 Aiyanna's Early Childhood Added Sat Jul 5 14:57:49 2008 at level 1:The Open Plains were quiet for several years and the Emperor seemed to have told the truth, though it was always strange to think about how insistent he was. In any case, before the birth of the unborn child, the two arials built a small hut for them to reside in for the next fifteen years or so. The hut was quickly and shoddily made and the materials were poor, as the Emperor refused to give them even the most basic supplies. All the two arials had was what they were able to afford, and all they brought with them was what they were able to carry on their back.
It wasn't much after they built this meager existence when the young one was born. The proud father of the chick called her Aiyanna, and the parents spent whatever time they could to protect and defend her. The father, being a proficient fighter, was able to defend the small hut from predators and hunt for food, and the mother did her best to teach the chick the ways of the Arials.
Eventually, the chick grew old enough to walk and fly on her own, and this was the time when her father gave her a spear built by his own claws. It was time for training, and so train they did. The father taught Aiyanna basic knowledge of all the weapons he knew so she would be ready to defend their home when the time came for it. Ever since the Emperor forced him to go to the Open Plains, he was always expecting to wake up with a knife to his throat.Of all the weapons he taught her, though, she picked up the spear the quickest. Maybe it was because her father's favored weapon, or maybe there was something else at work.
Aiyanna's father told her many stories of his past as a scout and soldier for the Arial Emperor. He always made sure that Aiyanna knew that had her father not come to the Open Plains that he would be in a dank cell with no chance of ever seeing the light from the blazing sun. Aiyanna, even at a young age, was very distrustful of the Emperor's motives. Why would the Emperor force her father to be in the Open Plains? There had to be a reason....
It wasn't much time later that the young arial was able and willing to go out on her own for short periods of time. She was only but six or seven years old, but her curiosity was insatiable. This young chick was never in much danger, for her father taught her well. It was during this time, though, to take care of herself in matters other than warfare. One of the first lessons learned, were how to hunt. Part of this training was to learn how to leave in harmony with the wilds. Aiyanna was growing up to be a stout warrior of the Plains.

#21435, "Aiyanna's Role Chapter 6"
|
RoleChapter 6 The Orc Attack Added Sat Jul 5 15:02:55 2008 at level 1:The day started off as any other day, with the sun rising from the east. The mother brought her now thirteen year old child a full meal, courtesy of the father's hunting skills. The father was outside the hut, repairing any holes and leaks to prepare for the impending rainy season. Aiyanna, jumped out from bed, after her meal, and kissed her mother good-bye. She was going to explore the Open Plains for the day, and she brought her spear.
Aiyanna didn't learn anything new from her explorations that day, and, like every other day, the sun started to set. It was time to track her travels back to her home so she can have a good night's rest with her family. This wasn't any day, though.
When she came within sight of what she called home, she saw smoke. This wasn't just smoke from a small campfire that her father sometimes built, there was something terribly wrong. She rushed to her home to see the terrible scene. The hut was completely ablaze, and her father, was lying on the ground, right outside. He was surrounded by several corpses of large, vaguely humanoid creatures. One of these beasts was crouched over what she thought was her dead father's body. Aiyanna wasn't going to give up hope, though, and she rushed the orc with her spear, completely taking him off guard.
It was her first battle against an orc, but because she was able to take the being off guard, she destroyed the wicked creature. When the creature fell on the ground from his wounds, she took out her sword and took off his head, just in case. She ran to her father's body, on the verge of tears.
He was not yet dead, and was still, amazingly enough, conscious.
"Father, father, what can I do?" Aiyanna asked desperately.
"Ah...my, young one, come here..." the father whispered. His daughter obeyed. She put one of her hands under his head, and held his hand with her other. She saw the fatal wounds strewn across her father's body. He was stabbed multiple times across the chest and stomach. "Aiyanna...."
"Please, tell me what can I do.You can't die, please don't die..." the young arial whispered to her father.
"Do not bother yourself, with it. I'm done for it, and I will not outlive the day."
"But Father-"
"Quiet!" the father silenced Aiyanna. "Please just salvage what you can from the hut, and leave the Open Plains."
"Why?"
"The Emperor will hear about this, and he will come. Make him believe you are dead, or he will make you his servant, as he did with me."
The young arial fell into a silence. Then she realized something important. "Father, where is mother?"
The dying arial went silent for a moment, likely trying to find the words. He then simply said, "She's dead."
Aiyanna, unable to control her emotions, started to cry. "No, no my child, do not cry. Please, for me, flee. There is a time to fight, and there is a time to run, and now is the time to run."
"But, I can't just leave you here, father," Aiyanna started to protest.
"Yes, you can, my days are over, make my death worth something..." her father trailed off, took one good look at Aiyanna, and closed his eyes.

RoleChapter 5 Afterwards Added Sat Jul 5 15:34:44 2008 at level 3:For the first time in her life, Aiyanna ran and ran. She was ashamed. How can she leave her parents when they were dying? But deep down, she knew her father was right. If the Emperor found out she was still alive, she would be father was right. If the Emperor found out she was still alive, she would be unacceptable. She should leave free and not beholden to anyone, especially to a man like the Emperor.
She wandered the Open Plains at first, but eventually, over the years she travelled to other places. Aiyanna, over the years, learned how to commune with the wilds in a limited fashion. She was no longer just a warrior with a blunt weapon. Later on, she would hear stories of an immortalan immortal who's ideals that spoke to her.
This immortal was the Jaguar, also known as Baerinika. She called for righteous battle and standing up for one's beliefs. Aiyanna had ran so far, like a cowardly dog, to prevent her enslavement. It was too much for the arial. She now had the need to prove her worth in battle. It was time to step out of the wilds and defend freedom and the natural world that provided so much for the young chick. The enemy would be civilization and those who would seek to enslave others.

RoleChapter 4 The Note to the Harbinger Added Tue Jul 8 18:28:51 2008 at level 27:The Harbinger and I had a disagreement, in which he ended very angrily saying that he would never let me walk as an Outlander. Of course I think he is wrong in his assumption that I was somehow not worthy. I probably just made matters worse by getting upset myself. I believe that the Harbinger just misunderstood some of what I was trying to say. I wrote the following missive to the Harbinger explaining what I meant:
I think, unfortunately, we had a rocky start in talking and we had some disagreements and misunderstandings. I did get rather angry, and that is likely why I ended up saying things I probably shouldn't have said. I won't take back everything what I said. I will just pen down what I meant to say, and anything I thought I missed. Hopefully this will clear up some things. All I am asking, though, is to read the entirety of this missive, and then make your judgment. If you have questions about what I have said, just ask.
In regards to paladins:I do understand why they are not welcomed within the refuge. It is true that they have this silly and misguided code that they follow. Many people, though, respect the laws of the land(tribunals). I do not agree with them, of course, and I'm not one of these people. I do not, however, agree with the mass murder of these folks. If you are going to kill them all, fine.I just won't join in that particular endeavor nor advocate such killings. And so I hold that paladins are like these people. Foolish, misguided, but as long as they are not actively spreading civilization or harming Thar-Eris nor or they aiding those that would, I do not see the need to kill them. If a non-affiliate paladin is attacking an imperial, I will probably go smack the imperial myself. If the paladin was a tribunal, however, I would let the fight go on, and destroy whoever was left standing. Any relationship I may or may not have with a paladin is purely to spread the cause of Thar-Eris. I suppose I did not make myself clear on that. In small, isolated cases, an enemy of an enemy is a friend.
In terms of Order: Well, everyone has differing views on this. The scroll on Thar-Eris on other such related literature does not explicitly that destroying everything that is orderly is the best way to bring the dream. Certainly the civilization that rises out of order must be destroyed. But, if we go and just randomly destroy everyone that has an orderly auraa few issues arise from this. The main one is we forget that there are worse enemies of Thar-Eris than a simple orderly invoker(assuming they are not affiliated with the spirelings, scions or imperials). By killing this invoker, we may let an imperial get away with much worse atrocities than just the blind willingness to follow a strict code. I also do not think it is necessary to slaughter everyone of this mindset. If we destroy civilization and those that would directly harm Thar-Eris, the rest is a matter of peaceful negotiations. Most everything will fall into place. If this does not happen, then we can deal with this issue then, but not when there are more pressing matters. We do not need to cause fights that are unnecessary to the cause. To do so would diminish the purity of our own cause.

|
RoleChapter 3 Enemies Added Tue Jul 8 19:53:17 2008 at level 27:I figured that it is about time to write down the reasons why I dislike certain folks. Of course, the main reason why, is that they are anathema to the cause I must fight. The purpose of this scroll, though, is to point out specific reasons and if its at all possible for one to become not one of the hunted or disliked.
Tribunals, among imperials, are one of the most disliked because they try to spread civilization at the expense of Thar-Eris. Rather, civilization will always harm Thar-Eris, so anyone trying to spread this civilization needs to be eliminated, either through bloodshed or active convincing. Tribunals do not spread civilization as much as the Imperials do, but they are responsible for preventing its disappearance. For Thar-Eris to be healthy and alive, the cities need to disappear. Not only this, both the Imperials and the Tribunals force others to follow laws. This, of course, is a form of tyranny and it cannot be tolerated.
The Scions are also enemies to hunt down. The scions sometimes disrupt the very cycle and change the way the wilds work. It is not natural to make what once was good and healthy herbs poisonous. They taint the very land they walk in. But these scions also summon nightwalkers into the world. They do not belong here in this world and should be sent back to hell(or wherever they hail from).
Conjurers are also an affront to my cause. They summon elementals, archons, devils and more from different worlds. It is not the fault of the creatures they summon, but still they do not belong here. Not only this, the conjurers bind these creatures to their services. These creatures are forced to protect and serve these monstrosities.
Anti-Paladins also traffic with demons and other creatures that do not belong in this world. Also, they create weapons that steal the very soul of a person.By stealing souls they make themselves more powerful than they should be.
Necromancers create creatures called undead. Or rather, they bring back the dead in the form of zombies and wraiths and other creatures known only as the undead. This disrupts the natural cycle. Only the gods should bring back the dead and everything is part of the cycle. Death is the end of this cycle, and it should remain so.The worse thing about these necromancers, is they never bring back the dead in their proper way. No, they are only twisted versions of the original being.
Orcs and Minotaurs are similar in that they both disrupt the cycle. They are twisted monstrosities of something else. The Orcs are twisted and mutated elves. Or they once were. Now they are not fit to be on this world. Of course, I also dislike Orcs because they are violent creatures that have no real purpose but to kill and maim. They are impure. Minotaurs, well I'm not sure where they originated from. I do know they do not reproduce in the traditional sense. And because of what could only be considered foul origins, they are impure as well.
All of the above cannot be tolerated, unless they can somehow change who they are. In the case of a tribunal, for example, if he decides to quit being a law dog and help further the cause of the Outlanders, he may be tolerated. If he remains as a spireling, however, he cannot be tolerated(of course one can speak to him to change hi

#21431, "Aiyanna's Role Chapter 2"
|
RoleChapter 2 The Shadow Added Sun Jul 13 15:00:17 2008 at level 31:Over my travels I have noticed something. There are more who follow the darker path who flagrantly spread civilization or harm Thar-Eris than those of the lighter path. The Scions and the Imperials are examples of groups that are full of those who walk the darker pathand at the same time offend Thar-Eris by enslaving others and spreading civilization. Even among the Spire, there seems to be more on the darker path than those on the lighter path. I have seen maybe one paladin walking among their ranks, but several necromancers and anti-paladins.
Also, there are others that offend Thar-Eris. Necromancers and anti-paladins are always wickedand they are always enemies of Thar-Eris. Most conjurers walk the same path as many necromancers, as well. And if you look at minotaurs and orcs, they certainly lean towards the darker paths. In fact, I have yet to find an orc that did not walk the dark path. A minotaur does occasionally walk the grey path, but the vast majority of them are friends to the dark path.
Of those who follow the lighter path, only dwarves and paladins are ever considered an offense. But even those offenses are relatively light compare to those done by the necromancers, conjurers and anti-paladins. The dwarves' ancestors mined, which injures Thar-Eris, but those who are currently running about, do not. The paladins follow a code, but they rarely enforce it upon others.I have heard of conjurers that follow the light, but I have yet to meet one. If they do exist, their offensives are a bit more grave than those of a non-mining dwarf and a non-spireling paladin.
But to go on further, there is no organization created by those following the lighter path that offends Thar-Eris. The Fortress, although can cause problems itself, is only devoted to weeding out the wicked. Often times their goals align with my own. They hunt Scions, Imperials, necromancers, anti-paladins, orcs, most minotaurs, and duergar. That sounds a lot like the list of my own enemies. Some of them do travel with spirelings, which is not something I condone, but they only aid civilization in an indirect manner and they do not understand the damage they are doing. Scions and Imperials, on the other hand, know full well of the damage they are causing, or if they don't---they are foolish and blind. Or perhaps they are just willing to lie to everyone, including themselves.
The dark villagers and the dark outlanders are the only people following the dark path that haven't proved that they are enemies. These dark ones, though, would probably be happy hunting nymphs and forest guardians for no other reason to become stronger. I do not exactly agree with this practice-there is no reason to hunt one that will help awake the Ancients. They would argue(at least the Outlanders), that they are aiding Thar-Eris by becoming stronger fighters. Perhaps there is some merit into this argument, but I believe if you are to become stronger, at least fight something worth killing, not a nymph. The death should further the cause directly.
The Villagers don't care at all. They would slaughter nymphs and forest guardians without an excuse. Just being there is enough for a dark villager. is less understandable. They don't even have a decent reason(or excuse) to slay those who w

RoleChapter 1 The Death of Vylim Added Fri Jul 18 12:27:44 2008 at level 40:I have some unfortunate news to pen down. I killed Vylim, a thief from the fortress. It was a mistake on my part. The Huntress was under attack from an invoker and a shaman, and when I saw the thief, I merely thought he was aiding the others to kill the huntress.Without even pausing to look or think, I went on to destroy the thief, thinking him weaker than the other two foes. I thought to myself, after killing Vylim, I could fight the other two easier.Unfortunately after I destroyed the poor human, I realized my mistake: I had killed an innocent. He was not guilty of anything. In fact, he wanted to hunt down the imperial. I dirtied myself in a hunt that was impure. The combat served nothing, and I only ended up hurting the cause.
I don't know what I can do to fix this atrocity. I never met to harm one that did nothing to offend me. I was blinded by rage and anger at those who would harm the refuge and Thar-Eris that I could not distinguish friend from foe. I'm appalled at my actions, and they must be amended. I went to my Lady's shrine to ask for forgiveness, or at least a path to forgiveness. Nothing, though. She must have been angry at me, and I wouldn't blame her if she was. Perhaps some time needs to pass. Either way, I have to purify myself from this dirty deed.
