Lekerjey the High Sorceress of the Arcane, Acolyte of the Golden Sun

Description

A fairly tall female human appears before you, her black hair tied tightly
into a simple bun. Her almond-shaped eyes are also dark and mysteriously, yet
a playful twinkle seems to lie beneath the pools of mystery. She is of a
rather tan tone, as if she has been in the sun a lot. Her body is lean and a
little muscular, and can be seen despite her clothes, which seem more guyish
than girlish. Her posture is relaxed and she seems to be distracted by some
thoughts. Yet, when someone appears to be somewhat threatening towards her,
she merely fingers her weapon or clenches her fist as if going to cast a
spell, and she does so casually, still seemingly distracted, but you know,
she isn't as distracted as she seems to be.

Stormy Childhood
Added Wed Apr 7 10:49:19 2004 at level 6:

Stormy Childhood
The sky was a dusty colour of dark blue and snow poured savagely from the cold
skies. All was silent except for the sound of the wandering soul of the wind,
and the soft sounds of snowflakes landing on the ground, layer by layer. A
group of male storm giants were passing through the dark woods, laughing an
jostling each other in the cold which didn't seem to bother them too much, when
the cries of a babe caught their attentive ears. Frowning, they followed the
sounds, and came upon a thin basket made of straw, lying carelessly next to a
huge tree. Opening the basket up with much haste, they were shocked to find a
mere babe swaddled in nothing but a piece of thin cloth shivering and crying
within it.

With extreme caution lest they crush the human child in their hands, they
picked the basket up and hurried to a cave which they had made their home in
for the time being. One of the storms went back out into the cold winter just
to get some milk for this young child, for all they had were beers, ales and
the likes stored up in their cave.

It was this unruly, yet kindly group of storm giants that brought the human
girl they called Lekerjey up. They named her Lekerjey, a name of Storm
descent, meaning 'One Of Us'. They accepted the weak and young human girl,
as compared to them, as one of them without bearing any grudges or
differences between them. As she didn't have a sirname, they merely named
her StormChild, to reinforce what Lekerjey meant. They called her 'Jey' fondly
and treated her as one of them.

They taught the girl as she grew up into a young woman, how to hunt, how to
swim and what they knew, they tried to teach her. As all storm giants, they
loved the seas, lakes and oceans, and spent much time beneath the rolling
surfaces. Lekerjey came to love water as she saw the fun they had in it, and
how comfortable they were in it. She joined them for swims, but couldn't venture
much beneath the surface like they could, and so, they made her a simple boat
of wood and with that, she was able to go anywhere with them on open waters. If
they slept beneath the waves as they did so often, she would sleep in her little
boat snugly, and they would take turns to check on her ever so often. She
grew to love the waves, the sound of waters, the smell of sea salt, and any
water-related thing, because of them.

Not only were her guardians, who preferred to be called her brothers in fact,
kind and generous, but they were also zealous lightwalkers. They crushed
dark souls if they came across any, and the dark souls fell every single time
to their wrath burning deep within their hearts that guided their weapons.
Lekerjey watched in awe at the strength of the light within her brothers, and
the older she grew, the more she became like them. Perhaps it was a sub-
conscious influence on her, but it was a good influence nonetheless. The light
burned with zeal within her heart, and she stubbornly shunned the shadows.
Yet, her guardians taught her never to kill without mercy, for by doing so was
being no better, perhaps even worse, than the dark soul they fell. They were
killing merely out of blind rage, and not one that was filled with righteous
wrath and fire.

However, her brothers had been injured before too, by large groups of shadow-
walkers,

Pure Light
Added Tue Apr 27 10:15:23 2004 at level 33:

After much time and a recommedation from the paladin Acolyte, Audriel, she was
recruited to the Fort as a scribe by the Elder Prophet, Vahletharien. She set
her mind to memorising the codes of the books of the Fort, and strove to be as
good a scribe as one could be. After awhile, she realised that she did not have
to memorise any codes, for these 'codes' were already part of her life and
person as a whole.

She ran throughout the lands frequently, lending a helping hand to many a
distressed person or friend. She loves to help others although she does not
talk or communicate much, and she knows that her brothers would also be proud
of their little human sister. She was doing pretty good in the lands without
the care of her storm brothers, but her doing well was also partly because of
them, who taught her to have her own backbone and to always keep it straight.
She misses them dearly, and thinks of them many a lonely night. However, she
knows that her duty as a scribe called for much dedication and time, and she
was willing to devote her heart and life to the cause.

She tried to visit them twice in this long span of years, but she did not
manage to catch a glimpse of their familiar faces, for they would have left
their current home then, in search for a more interesting one, or in search
for more adventure. She deciphered the signals left behind by them and trekked
to their new home, only to find another set of signals left behind. Such was
the erradic and nomadic life they led. Lekerjey longed to be with them again,
but she knows that she must first complete her studies as a transmuter and be
a full Acolyte before she can truly help them in any battle, for her powers
and spells now were still somewhat limited. Thus, she returned to the Fort and
to the known part of Thera and resumed her duties and studies. When she had the
time, she would try to locate her brothers' latest home again.

After many years of travel, she has also grown fond of the storm paladin
Rouchevien, who bore the mark of Vynmylak. He was one of her first travelling
mates, and was and is her closest friend. She feels so at home and safe around
him, the kind of feeling that was only invoked by her storm guardians. When
she looks into his stern face, she saw her brothers. Not that he was like any
of them, but somehow, the way he carried his dignity and self reminded her of
her brothers easily.

Somehow, in her time within the Fort, the people she had come to know were
mainly Marans and squires. She found them a little cold and dull at first, but
realised that there was so much more to them as a person than the weary visages
they carried on their faces and voices. For duty has heavy for them. Thus, she
tried to provide encouragement as a scribe and Acolyte should, in her own
Lekerjey way. She does not talk much, but she knows that they know that she is
trying to encourage them on in the battle against the shadows. For encouragement
is more than mere words and smiles, it was something deep within, something
from the innermost heart. Lekerjey does not draw her strength from herself, for
she knows, while watching her brothers fight, that her strength was insufficient
for almost everything. Strength from the Light however, made everything possible.
And she wished to let others know this trut

Battles
Added Sat Jun 5 04:27:26 2004 at level 51:

Lekerjey squinted her eyes and winced in agony. A sharp pain throbbed through
her entire skull and her muscles ached in all sourness. Grinding her teeth, she
got to her feet slowly in sheer determination. Sweat clung to her skin miserably
and she felt sick. Taking a look at her surroundings with a frown creased on her
forehead, she tried to recall what had happened.
It was a marketplace. Where? Squinting and examining everything closely,
realisation dawned on her. Suddenly the events that had happened before she had
passed out surged through her mind, increasing the pain of the throb manifold.
She gritted her teeth and tried not to whine.

She had fought an Imperial right here. He had probably managed to knock her out
cold, and dumped her at an alley. She was relieved to find that she still had
some supplies with her. Lately, she has been battling a lot. More than an Acolyte
should actually. But she chose to be an Acolyte and a transmuter because she
believed that by strengthening the current strength, the war could be better
fought than if she lent her single might as a soldier. And she has been doing just
that.

Apart from that, which was duty to her, she longed to be in the Battle herself,
and fight against the shadows which gripped the hearts of many, just like her
brothers had and did. However, her first priority was to protect, enhance and
preserve the current strength. Then, when this was done, she would readily jump
into the Battle herself. For the current strength was now stronger, and will be
slightly stronger if she now lent herself to the Battle. Thus, she continues to
fight the war right beside her brothers and sisters in the Light. She was born for
the Battle, and for the Battle she will fight in every area and with all her might.

Lekerjey rummaged through her bag and managed, to her relief, to find some herbs
that would help ease the pain. Chewing on the bitter bark, she sat on the ground
to rest for a moment. 'What of peace?' The thought pierced her mind. It was as if
someone was questioning her. 'How can battling show or promote peace?' She chuckled
and, whispering, she said, "I fight to save these souls from retribution. Yet, I
know that fighting is not the only way that others will come to the Light.
Therefore, words, encouragement, gifts for the soul, these will I use to draw them
back to goodness, together with my bow and arrows and my fists. As long as there are
shadows, there is no true peace." She blinked and muttered. Lately, she has been
talking to herself too much. Some might think her slowly going insane.

Her head and body was much better now. Repairing the rest of her bones, organs and
muscles, she once again, felt glad she was a transmuter. Fresh and ready, she walked
towards the filthy Palace again, wanting to save the souls that had trapped them-
selves within its wall of lies. Perhaps they would listen, perhaps they wanted to
fight yet again, but surely, the Light will penetrate through their hardened hearts.
And that gave her hope.

Heroine Years & New Acolyte
Added Wed May 19 12:06:17 2004 at level 51:

Lekerjey is now a grown woman, matured, yet still young in her features and
childlike in her faith in the Light, believing and serving it with all that she
has and can. She spent many years as a heroine roaming the lands frequently,
enhancing any not of the shadows. She realised that the spells she has learnt
in her Guild has proved more useful than she could ever imagine. That the spells
were like little presents from the Light to the peoples of Thera, drawing them
to the sharing nature of the Light. Spells proved to be her words for her, since
she doesn't talk much.

She also longs to see her brothers more than ever these recent years, yet, she
remembers her duty, and chooses to remain to defend and preserve the Light in
the known part of Thera. She prays for them sometimes, asking the Light to guide
and protect them. She worries for them, not knowing if they are hurt or any of
them had fallen in a fight. Yet, she knows that they will be in the azure-fields,
a place that is rid of suffering and death, and that comforts her greatly.

Many battles have taken place in her time as a scribe, and she realises how serious
this war is. That it is not as easy as she thought it would be, that people would
want to follow the Light merely by her telling them. She has come to realise that
what truly matters are her actions and the intents of her heart, that it is these
that would draw people to the Light, and not words alone. She has also come to
realise that everyone had choice, and that the Light could not be forced down their
throats, for to do so was the wrong way to bring them to the Light. She does try
as hard as she can to bring the lost and fallen back to goodness.

She was recently raised to Acolyte status too by the Maran Lord Vynmylak. He brought
her to the azure-fields, and that was a huge eye-opener for her. She had no idea
how beautiful and peaceful the azure-fields were, and how much she actually longed
for this to become real in the world. Just a short trip to the azure-fields has
given Lekerjey strength and joy to strive on and serve the Light, for she wanted all
to come to know of this beautiful place.

She was extremely happy when she was raised to an Acolyte, and Lord Vynmylak said to
her, Tis time ya give thought t' how t' continue ya works....'. She will spend much
time thinking of how to continue her works, yet she knows that by having right actions
and heart, these will affect and naturally guide her to the works she will do. She
will continue to research on the dark Lord Valguarnera and his tainted religion. She
wishes to learn as much as she can of the religions that bring forth wars between good
and evil. She find that if the Lightwalkers of the Fortress know the mind and hearts
of the followers of the dark religions, they can better bring these fallen races back
to the Light. For only when heart speaks with heart, that true communication and
understanding takes place.

An Acolyte's Thoughts
Added Sat Jun 5 04:32:45 2004 at level 51:

Being an Acolyte is not easy, but Lekerjey knew, and she was prepared for the
greater task ahead of her. The time spent learning and training as a scribe had
indeed proved insightful, and she is actually grateful for the period of hardship
she went through. Hardship and trials did build character and strength as she
has come to know. Bearing that in mind, she faces all trials now knowing that as
long as she perseveres, she will come out greater than these.

Lekerjey sat on the edge of the cliff. Below, the churning sea raged and pitted
itself against the solid rock wall. The sun was barely awake yet, and the air
held a fresh, salted sting. Lekerjey hummed a childhood song quietly to herself,
staring over the ocean that she had come to love as a mere infant. As she sat and
meditated in the calmness and serenity of the morning, thoughts ran through her
mind...

Sun and shadow. Fair winds and dark skies. She was surprised to realise that
nature also told the story of the Battle somewhat. When darkness fell on the lands
strong, a faint candle could light up an entire room. And so it was with their
faith in the Light. Lightwalkers who do not hold so much that of the Light within
them are not any worse than the stronger ones. For small faith is still faith
and not no faith. And that small faith was like a candle in the dead of night,
able to light up an entire room. Small faith can still save the fallen back to
the Light indeed, and should not be scorned.

The gray path. Many are confused by this path, and few know what to do with them
or how even to treat them. Were they evil if they walked with shadowhearts? Were
they good if they helped a friend in all truthfulness? The arguments are the same
time and again. "What if they fought the Light against their own will?", "Do you
know why they do what they do?". Indeed, they either have weak wills or are
misguided. Those with weak wills are easily manipulated, and therefore, do
things unknowingly, things that might even harm them rather than help them. She
sees will as a form of trial. For if you really believe in what you claim to
believe in, you would trust in this belief fully and not allow someone else to
sway you. Those of little faith still had faith, and they would cling on to that
little faith that will save them, rather than allowing themselves to be bought by
lies. Those that are misguided simply needed to be guided back to the right
path lest the fell deeper into the wretched abyss of lies. Sometimes, those with
weak wills became misguided indeed, and they should simply be guided back to the
safety of the Light.

One should try to treat grayhearts better, and not shun, fear or ignore them. For
indeed, all mortals have at least a seed of Light within them from birth. That
goodness within them they can try to hide, but they cannot deny it's presence.
Lekerjey saw it her duty as an Acolyte of Goodness to ensure that this seed
within all take root, no matter how slow or weary the process may be. Also, she
understands that good is more than just the absence of bad, and that grayhearts
are merely this. Not good, yet lacked bad. To her, a Light-walker would be one
whose heart is filled with the goodness that comes only from the Light, and this
filling is active. It will pour out into th
