Chapter 10

Contentment turns to strangulated agony as the walls of your existance
begin to close in and squeeze you. You cannot move, your movements are
restricted to the very smallest eye movements and silent screams. Then
there is light and frantic noise. You feel so trapped and something is
pulling at you with coarse, gravelly hands. You gasp for air but it is
evading you. You begin to tingle like little pins and needles stabbing
into your skin. Your vision becomes hazy and little motes of light are
dancing before you and then a high pitched scream before darkness.
Your own heart beat that for nine months has been your only companion
begins to fade and stop.
With a crushing jerkiness you feel air rush into your lungs as you are
swung around the room by your legs and you begin to scream. It stops
abruptly as you are placed in your mothers arms and put to her breast
to feed.

Chapter 9

A horrendous experience you dont want to repeat but this tragic event
marked Elemek for life. His left hand side of his body was paralysed
and so was subjected to a life of sympathetic gazes and having to have
stuff done for him by his father who cared little for him after his
mother died shortly after the birth, bled to death apparantly. He has
a lisp when he talks due to the paralysed muscle on his face and his
left hand could barely be used until later in life. His left leg is
just about usable but it leaves him tired for walking and often brings
stares or titters from those who see him shambling along. As a young
man his anger sat under the surface, contemptuous of those who cannot
just treat him as a normal human.

Chapter 8

Elemek worked in his fathers cobblers shop for most of his life and
having not been able to be much of an active child he read alot of
books from the towns library. He worked the payment side and accounts
of his fathers shop and would often never speak to anyone, not even
his father. There were a few patrons that made his anger rise like
bile in the back of his throat. Those that had real money and power
had his father snivveling after them like some sort of roach. They
would openly degrade his father and speak down to him as if he were
a complete idiot. Well, maybe he was but he was still Elemeks only
family.
It was when the merchant Ilustir came for his newest shoes that Elemek
finally spoke up. Ilustir had been his mothers employer and patron of
the cobblers for all of Elemeks life and always he spoke with such an
accrid tone it made Elemek's teeth ache. During one of the merchants
usual flippant remarks, Elemek retorted and stunned the merchant into
silence. His father shooshed him but the merchant dismissed him with
a hand wave and said 'No, No, I like a lad with a bit of bite'. He
then asked how old Elemek was and over his next few visits engaged
Elemek in conversation of an intellectual nature. Elemek began to look
forward to the visits and soon an offer was made that Elemek could not
believe. It appeared that Ilustir thought Elemek was wasted in his
fathers shop and had paid for him to attend a very special school of
magic. A place where his own son was attending. The last thing Elemek
recalls hearing of that day as he got lost in the possibilities was
Ilustir saying to his father 'It was not much of a life here'.

Chapter 7

The school was an amazing tower of untold magic. Nothing was ever what
you thought and the professors were artists of their craft. Elemek met
Ilustirs son Davor on his first day and they became firm friends. Davor
did not really have any up until Elemeks arrival and Elemeks excellence
in magic made him popular beyond his wildest imagination. The truely
intelligent saw what was in him, not his physical being.
Elemeks obvious interest was in shapeshifting after being told by the
professors that it was the only may to get past his 'difficulties'.
The more Elemek learned, the greater his understanding of magic. His
paralysed limbs began to get better, not cured but more mobile and
he could use them in a weakened capacity. He often lost track of his
friend when he was at his most studious. That is when his friendship
with Davor was at its best, he would often come and remind Elemek that
he needed some rest.
At holidays he would go and stay at Davors and they would have a great
time in the vast gardens. This is where Elemek met Davors sister. Her
name was Pheleen and she was the most beautiful thing Elemek had ever
seen. She had been blind since birth and so was schooled at home but
she and Elemek hit it off from the start. They would laugh and joke
and even though she felt his face she did not comment on its stiffness.
The love grew over time and although Davor was a little jealous of his
friends attentions on his sister he did not let on and every holiday
became a joy of spending more time with Pheleen.

Chapter 6

Many years passed and Pheleen and Elemek were so very much in love.
His friendship with Davor was solid as a rock and his studies progressed
to the point of taking the form of other creatures. It was a fine
winters night that he and Pheleen spent the night together. Until this
point, Davor had been alright about their flirting and giggling, not
really knowing that they had got so close. He was now angry and he
told his father, who did not know up until now. The merchant was furious
and had his servants grab Elemek and throw him from the house. His money
was taken away from Elemeks tuition and he was thrown out of the school.
He tried to gain entry to the house to check on Pheleen as the last he
heard as he was thrown out the first time was her screams upstairs.
He spoke to a sympathetic maid and she told him of how she has been kept
in the upstairs bedroom and noone has seen her. Her mother takes care of
her and noone but her mother goes in or out.
Elemek returned to his fathers but was never happy. He would often go to
the Ilustirs house and more often find his nose bloodied from trying to
catch a glimse of Pheleen. Ilustir sent him a bankers note offering a
great deal to leave the city and never come back but Elemek could not
be bought, so instead he lived the next year in misery, friendless and
without his love or his magic.

Chapter 5

Almost a year had passed when a knock at the shop door awoke Elemek.
He hobbled down the stairs and saw a shadowy figure by the door so he
prepared himself with magic before opening the door. A moments quiet
before lion-like clawed hands tore at him from beneath the cloak of
the person at the door. The fought furiously with their clawed hands
until Elemek used his head has a rhinos horn to impale the intruder.
Elemek unmasked the writhing intruder to find a dying Davor beneath
the cloak. He was not touched by anything, he was still cold within
the magic. Blood gurgled from the mouth of Davor as he tried to speak
'You bastard, you killed her, YOU KILLED HER!', then he died.
Elemek felt his stomach drop and he wanted to be sick, Pheleen could
not be dead. He grabbed his cloak and fled to the Ilustir's house.
He would not hold back now, Magic would be unleashed on any who try
to stop him.
He destroyed the servants who tried to get in his way and fought all
the way through to the Merchant himself who sat sobbing at his desk.
He barely looked up when Elemek screamed at him to show him Pheleen.
He just looked up and said 'She is dead and so is her Child!' crying
all the while. Elemek fell to his knees, he was a father, WAS a father
but all he had loved has been taken from him. He filled with furious
rage and demanded to know how it happened. The Merchant explained
That many years ago, he had loved Elemek's mother and she bore him a
son that he could never love or he would lose his honor and respect.
How he could not let his daughter leave the house while she carried
her own brothers childe within her. His wife would not even let him
call a Healer when the birth went wrong and now they both lay dead
in her bed chamber.
Elemek asked about his wife to which the reply was 'She could not stand
the pain and through herself over the balcony and I have only my son now'
Elemek sneered as he twisted the knife into the man he despised, who
sits before him, as he tells of hos his Davor tried for his life but
lost his own. The merchant reached for his dagger to slit his own
wrists but Elemek fumbled it from his grasp with magic and slowly
moved towards him. I will save you the trouble Merchant...father and
plunged his clawed hands into the soft neck of the fat merchant.
He had hoped it would make him feel better but his heart was now a
twisted wreck without Pheleen. All he has now is his magic...surely
there must be a way to bring her back from the other plane, from the
ghost plane.

Chapter 4

Unfocused anger no more.
Elemek has been attacking almost everyone he sees through his eagle eyes
as the revelations of his lost and forbidden love. His anger has been
a dervish whirling through his mind and paining his heart but the time
of unfocused anger has passed. Elemek ventures now to find a place where
he can train, without fees and learn from the greatest holders of Magic
lore. Those who know about the splitting and linking of planes and can
ultimately find a way to reach Pheleen in the ghost plane.

Chapter 3

After hearing of the prophecies that spoke of the eternal night Elemek
began working on his own theory of how he could reach other planes and
allow proper crossover between them. Speaking to many magi of the planar
magic left him with an idea to use the elemental planes as a stepping
stone or stairway to the greater planes of shadow and ghost. He believes
that by bringing together 4 objects of extreme rareity or power from each
of the elements (Earth, Fire, Air, Water) he can somehow bring the planes
of the Eternal night and the ghostly plane close enough to allow full
cross over. He has spoken about his ideas to only the Chancellor Ravon
who he thinks may already have strong enough items of fire and earth.
His own reasons for making it work, differ from the Chancellors but he
will keep those reasons to himself.

Chapter 2

Elemek's frustration grows as his plans are no closer to fruition. The
chancellor has been absent from his sight for some weeks and Elemek is
wondering whether his vision is being secreted by the Chancellor to the
other scions as his own. He has shared his vision with Chrichuk and the
learned arial is quite intrigued so it has merit. Elemek hopes that the
chancellor will motion the other scions to begin scouring the land for
the items soon as his heart aches for to be with Pheleen and his anger
is bring out the blood from those around him.

Chapter 1

An interesting chat with Chrichuk had Elemek explaining what the tears
of Twist are. Elemek explained that many years ago when Elemek studied
in the tower of magic he came upon an old wooden desk with scribblings
markings and drawings on it. He dismissed them at first and got on with
his work on ancient runes when he noticed a pattern that was not all
madness but an actual message. Upon reading it aloud the desk opened
into a larger plinth and on it were ancient runic script. It took him
weeks to decipher the runes but it was about a great tower of magic
where the occupants were called Masters of Magic. The great Lord Twist
who had gifted magic to mortal beings was believed to have been a
a student there but when the tower was broken by dark politicians and
savage barbarians who shun the gift of Magic and throw it back at the
Lord Twist. It was said that Twist wept and his tears, infused with
raw mana, fell to the ground and crystalised into gems so that those
who still sought to use and embrace his gift could find protection
from the barbarians and savages who will never understand what he had
offered them. Elemek then explained how they are found now in places
of magical concentration and exists in three types....Sienna for the
blood spilled by the Masters who tried to protect the tower....Amber
for his love of those who embrace Magic with their heart....and Black
for his anger and wrath to be used to inflict upon those who rip down
the scholars. Chrichuk appeared quite interested but outlander savages
disrupted their conversation.
