Sananto Gol the Legend of the Battlefield, MageSlayer
DescriptionWild tattoos rip up and down the well-muscled arms of the fair-skinned man before you. Bright and flamboyant, there is a deep-set order to them, as the chaos itself was trying to organize itself into some meaning. Solidly put together, he stands just over 6 feet tall and boasts a lean, athletic frame t speaks of both power and dexterity. Clean-shaven with a blonde crew cut and few visible scars, he appears well kept. Piercing blue eyes pee out from a chiseled, broad face set with a strong nose and chin. There is a certain intensity to this man the oozes out through his demeanor and posturin Veins line his neck and as you look closely you swear you can see a strange blood coursing within, changing and pulsing with each beat of his heart. His stance is one of casual readiness, reminding one of a predatory cat relaxing before the hunt. You note the strong, weathered hands that seem abnormally large for a man his size. About his neck hangs a unique-looking emblem pendant of three wavy circles, one within the next, like a sort of distorted symbol.

RoleChapter 4 A Magical Birth Added Sat Jul 21 18:10:04 2007 at level 7:The electrical storm raging overhead was only accentuated by the wildly shifting colors of the distant Veil in the ether beyond. The priest-warrior, the youngest of a long line of shamans, looked uneasily at the rickety boat that now restlessly knocked against the rocky beach as it was relentlessly pounded by the ever-growing tide. He head turned to his prone wife lying in a patch of gray grass some 50 yards from the shoreline. They had begun this voyage on a pilgrimage across the Sea of Despair but the weather had turned and for the last two days they had been stranded on this barren rock of an island. The fact that the nearby Veil had been rapidly diminishing caused even greater worry. It was now the weakest he could ever remember and he had lived in the vicinity for years. In retrospect, the shaman thought that perhaps he had not tried to bring his pregnant wife on such a dangerous voyage so late in her pregnancy. Now it would be all that he could do to see her through, for her labor had begun. He said a silent prayer to the Jaguar.
The man hurried over to his wife as she cried in anguish. As though responding to her cries, the lightning storm intensified and the Veil flashed rich with mana. It would not be long. As he reached her side, a tremendous blast of magical lightning struck the far side of the island, sending rock splintering through the air and leaving a hollow, noiseless void for several instants. The woman screamed again and the sound of the storm rushed back upon them.
Suddenly, a second blast of terrible magical lightning bolted through the air, directly at the couple. At the instant of the strike, the shaman exploded into a million sparking pieces, obliterated into nothingness. But something strange happened with the woman either from the magical nature of the lightning, the blessing of the Jaguar or pure luck. She was not destroyed or even hurt by the blast, at least not to the naked eye. The magical energy contained within the pulse surged into her, coursing through her veins and singing her blood as well as that of her unborn child. Pure mana momentarily became them and then just as quickly left them, leaving behind a trace of the energy that had come with it.
An hour later, the storm began to subside and the Veil began to thicken once more. Exhausted, the woman fell collapsed with her newborn child cradled against her chest.

RoleChapter 3 Early Life Added Sat Jul 21 18:45:06 2007 at level 8:Early in his life, Sanantos mother had passed away and he was left with his community for care. His family was a well-respected line of shamans, powerful priest-warriors who communed with the Jaguar. But Sananto would prove to be different. Despite his training and education with the other priests within the community, his familys ancient link with the Goddess had been severed. He became a proficient warrior as he reached adolescence, but was relegated to learning the arts of bandaging and natural healing as opposed to the more priestly arts.
He had always known he was different in other ways. His skin was much paler than others around him, almost to the point that it seemed translucent at times. He could see his veins and sometimes even see the blood coursing through them. His blood seemed to change colors, and at times it would burn with fiery pain. All of this seemed to tie into the strength of the Veil far in the distance. As it weakened, the pulsing and burning intensified and as it strengthened, it would subside.
Others around him noticed these effects as well. The priests who educated him knew that his birth branding had left residual mana in his blood, and it was this energy which had isolated him from the touch of the Jaguar. Seeing the pain this caused within him, they incorporated teachings of the Veil in with his religious lessons so that he could learn to manipulate and control the fate he had been cursed with.

RoleChapter 2 The First Lesson Added Sat Sep 22 11:21:06 2007 at level 24:Sananto had grown in standing and in skill. Traveling and exploring the world in search of ways to ease his pain, he had learned much. There were the words from the Sunwarden, who taught him more of the Jaguar. There were the ancient scrolls of Battlerager lore, which taught him of pride and courage. And there were the teaching of his guildmaster and countless battles, which taught him the way of the warrior in handling his blades. But perhaps the strongest lesson he took in was one of humility and of hope.
As Sananto sat in Arkham one day discussing the ways of Battle with Behrious, a Battlerager elder, he spotted another warrior carrying about a hammer which cast bolts of lightning as he swung it at his foes. Sananto demanded she quit the weapon, to which the warrior refused. She then challenged Sananto who in turn surged forward, the blood pounding in his ears. As they fought, the warriors companion, a paladin, leapt into the fray and Sananto was forced to battle them both. The warrior fell before his twirling blades, but as he finished her the paladin smote him over the neck, finishing him.
Behrious called Sananto to the guild and aided him in recovery. Once Sananto was healthy enough to stand once more, the elder Battlerager peered at him with an angry eye and demanded to know what the applicant was doing in fighting the other warrior and paladin.Sananto explained to him his reasoning, and though Behrious softened upon understanding, he still berated the younger warrior for his rash aggressiveness. "Remember who your true enemy is. Even though the destruction of her hammer may have taken one more magical curse out of this land, you must temper your actions or your life will be short indeed!" Though not totally convinced, Sananto deferred to the old svirfniblis advice and began to rethink his actions.
Behrious then asked Sananto to tell him more about himself. Sananto told him of his past, of his turbulent birth, the severed channel to his Goddess and the painful mana coursing through is veins. They spoke some of Sanantos faith and Behrious asked Sananto if he had gone to the Jaguars shrine to pray. Sananto admitted that he had, but had never gathered the courage to call out to her there. "I ain bout t call t er while Ive got this curse runnin through m blood. Once I purify mself, maybe shell accept m back," lamented Sananto. Behrious gave him a curious look, then told Sananto that he needed look at his heart, not his blood in understanding whether he was ready for his Goddess. Call to her, he said, and let her decide who is good enough be her priest.
Sananto left the guild with a new purpose and a new confidence. On the way out, Behrious called to him from across the room. "By the way, lad, you fought fiercely back there. Im proud of your bravery and skill, though you need to learn to focus it better."

|
RoleChapter 1 Exploring Faith and Floundering for Acceptance Added Sat Nov 24 15:08:15 2007 at level 40:Sananto had been granted a hut in the Village of the Battleragers by Golhyrr, the Commander at that time. At once Sananto felt at home amongst this brotherhood of barbarians, and they accepted him and his healing arts. He grew more skilled and with his talents grew his confidence and bravery. He trained heavily in swordsmanship and hand-to-hand warfare and before long became renowned throughout the lands for his skill and ferocity, particularly against the mages who wielded the cursed mana which scalded his veins. In time, he became known as the MageSlayer of the Village.
With every mage he sent to the abyss he could feel a bit more of the mana purged from his veins, never to return. He had padded around the Jaguars shrine in silent prayer, but yet refrained from calling out to her - he sensed the mana too strong in him still and his link to her too weak. Despite the early successes he had achieved in his life in advancing toward his goals, he knew he was still far from achieving them. He despaired, believing for the first time that he may never cleanse the mana from his blood and redeem himself with his goddess.
One day, while training deep beneath the Arynth Ocean in the lair of the KuoToas, he came across a renowned paladin by the name of Klyndenstrom. They knew of each other and commented on meeting one another at long last in such a far flung place. Having little else to do as they rested together, they spoke of their lives and their faith. Sananto found the elder paladin to have eager ears and an open heart, and as he explained his life to him Klyndenstrom he gave the Battlerager some sound advice which he was able to take to heart and reinvigorate his spirit. The paladin told him of an inner spark which all people have - an independent extension of their being that knows right from wrong and guides each man in achieving his true calling. He explained that if you do something that you should not be doing, this spark weighs on your conscious and when you do something right, it makes you feel as though you did. He asked if Sananto ever regretted doing what his path called upon him to do, to which Sananto said only that he regretted never having established a link with the Jaguar. Klyndenstrom told him to think upon that and to have strength in approaching her, for only she may have the answers he needed in order to purify his blood and his faith. After that, the paladin and the warrior parted ways, each enlightened from their talks.
