Pvalvv the Battle-Scarred, Seeker of Purpose

Chapter 2

Youung Pvalvv's breathing warmed the neck of the
fire giant, the giant's eyes almost popping out
of his eyesockets. He whispers something inaudible
in the Giant's ear before retracting the blade from
his gut.

The Merchant Road had been riddled with thieves and
vagabonds lately. The riots from the Village spread
through the countryside and had made travelling
almost impossible for the merchants bringing their
goods to the area.
..
Food was scarce these days. It had been about two
months since the incident and Pvalvv found himself
roaming aimlessly, slaying vagabonds and thieves
looking to take advantage of the weak. He found
himself lying under a tree one night. The cool
autumn air wooshed by as he contemplated life when
suddenly the distinct sound of a horse-draw carriage
was heard coming from a distance. This was usually
a good sign of trouble. When Pvalvv heard that sound
of wheels turning on the dirt road and the hammering
of horseshoes galloping, he knew thieves weren't far.
He creeped through the foliage clumsily, stalking it
and waiting for any sign of thieves.
There! Over by the yellow flower, he saw movement.
He hadn't been paying much attention to the carriage
itself. They were all usually the same. Sold old
man lashing at his horses trying to get through the
road as quickly as possible. But this carriage was
being lead by a woman in battle armors, and walking
beside was a Holy Knight.
..
The white billowing linen wagon-cover was emblazoned
with a Silver Phoenix. These were Fortress members
who had obviously heard of the turmoil and strife in
the area and were here to help the needy. The woman
was obviously an Acolyte, she didn't look battle
hardened. No, not like the Knight. The Knight's
face was riddled with scars and blemishes. The
thieves in the bushes knew who they were as well.
Yes, they had ample time to strike - but they did not.
..
The Knight's eyes were as discerning as an owl's. He
obviously knew the thieves were considering an ambush,
but also knew they would not strike.
..
Pvalvv cocked his head in a discerning manner. For a
brief moment he did not see the knight's battle worn
face in the helm, but his own. Like a flash, he saw
himself instead of the knight escorting the carriage.
It was brief, and it almost not worth thinking twice
about, but something about the vision intrigued Pvalvv.

The young avian looks up at a crude sign in this
massive city he had never been in. It read
'WARRIOR'S GUIILD'. A final scene of the vision
shows Pvalvv inside the guild weighing various
weapons, obviously testing his comfort with them.
Finally, after picking up a sword, he nods at the
guildmaster and the vision turns into blackness.

Chapter 3

Born to two missionary monks, Pvalvv led a simple
life of spiritual order and monotony - that is,
in terms of the life a normal child would lead.
The Order of the Dih, they were called, and they
were not unlike the Macalla. That is, except for
one major difference: Instead of the ways of the
warrior, their focus was the way of the True Monk.
This simply meant that they never sought to fight
with arms - but instead always retreated to find
themselves within. Any struggle or problem that
arose, was dealt with through deep meditation and
prayer. They prayed to no God, but rather, to
the essence of the spirit.

Something about Pvalvv was different. Amidst all
the prayer and heightened spirituality, there
was this diamond in a sea of emeralds. Pvalvv
enjoyed a good fight and would often wander off to
the nearby village to pick a fight. He would often
insult the wives of merchants in hopes that their
reactions would be of a violent kind. However, on
one opportune day, he came upon a rather bland
looking woman. She wore tattered clothes and a
cloak to hide her face. Pvalvv, being the naive
youth that he was, pushed and tripped the woman,
hoping a nearby guard would notice. Little did he
know, the woman in question was Queen Yyorna who
had decided she wanted to aid the the locals of
the village by living as one of them.

Guard after guard spilled into the busy marketplace
of the village, lunging at the young Pvalvv. He
dodged, parried, and cut his way through, every
moment of combat a stream of ecstacy. That is,
until the number of guards overwhelmed the young
bird and pinned him to the ground.
..
The skeletal mastiff tattoed on his tail feathers
gave away his identity. The monk's symbol was well
known throughout the immediate area as their temple
was nearby. Perplexed, confused and angry, the King
ordered the immediate destruction of the Temple -
seeing the attack on the Queen as blasphemy.
..
The fires from the burning temple billowed in the
distance as Pvalvv watched from his lonely cell.
He had been the cause of the fire, the deaths of
his fellow monks, ... his parents. He felt remorse
like nothing he had ever felt in his life. All was
was lost.
..
All was lost... that is, until the riots. Screams
filled the halls of the jail as prisoners had been
broken free by rogues and assassins who rallyed
against the oppressive king. Murderers and rapists
alike ran free onto the streets of the village,
pillaging and commiting archaic acts of violence.
Pvalvv had made a rash decision and was remorseful,
but like any free spirit, he sought exactly that -
freedom. He ran the other way, away from all the
violence. He ran, and ran, sneaking through damp
and dark alleyways. And then, fate decided to play
a trick on Pvalvv. *SMASH* Pvalvv crashed into
another person fleeing the violence. They feel on
their backs hard. The other man breathed heavily,
obviously a nervous wreck from all the violence.
Something about this man seemed very familiar to
Pvalvv. He wore tattered clothes, much like those
of the Queen on that fateful day. His face was
covered with a dark hood, but something about his
fearful eyes seemed all too familiar. It was the
King, fleeing certain death. It was decision time

Chapter 1

Pvalvv has since grown. Though the pain and regret
of his past still linger within, he has chosen to follow
the path of a Squire. He was born under the sphere of
dedication and he feels that the events that took
place since his imprisonment are a sign from his Lord,
the Lord of Archons, Corrlaan.
Though remorse plagues his heart, he has made a solemn
vow to protect and fight for the weak, for the good in
the souls of others, for himself. He knows he could
never regain what he lost in his former life, but a new
life for him has begun.

The true battle begins within, and it begins now.
