Vhergruhl BlackHeart the Master of Weapons
DescriptionA disheveled creature stands before you, grime covering most of its' body. It is hard to tell if this creature is male or female, since it is most likely a dwarf. Long curled and matted hair hangs from its face and and falls from the all angles on its head, which is also a bloody mess.
As you look closer, you notice a horrible smell of of blood, leather and old body odor. You also notice this creature seems to be grabbing some sort of bladed knife of some sort, covered in blood. Peering through the almost visible clouds of stink, you see a large fleshy scar on the leftside of this creatures neck. Peering even closer, you almost sense it was once a brand of some sort, serpentine in a way, but has been deliberately scarred over. Taking one final glance, you notice that...

RoleChapter 2 Vhergruhl's limited travels (an update) Added Sat Sep 22 03:46:20 2007 at level 10:When Vhergruhl awoke from his madness, he was in some sort of strange museum. A glowing figure greeted him with some sort of gibberish, as Vhergruhl slowly took stock of his wounds. Grave, but he would live.
As he tended to his wounds, Vhergruhl noticed an odd sign near the middle of the room he was in. As he struggled to decipher the odd writing upon the sign, he moved carefully through the museum, learning interesting facts about certain things ignorant to the foul duergar. In one of those halls he saw a tapestry of valiant warriors locked into a struggle with a band of dark-cowled mages.
What did this mean? Were these warriors friend, or foe to the duergar? Would they think him infested?
All these thoughts rolling around in his addled head made Vhergruhl tired. Steeling himself from further symptoms of the virus (he was nearly beaten to a bloody pulp by a strange Templar in the museum and rested mere drops of blood from bleeding to death in the basement to a pack of rabid beasts), Vhergruhl trudged through, finding many pieces of supple leather armor that seemed to bolster his spirits and alleviate the pain in his legs. A sign from the Gods, perhaps.
Eventually, he found his guild in the bustling city of Galadon. It was there he met one of the fabled warriors, a rocky gnome named Behrious. Attempting to compose himself, Vhergruhl did his best to impress the warrior, eventually letting slip his malady. Gifted with a fabled Cloak of Nightwing and a blackened ring, Vhergruhl set off north of the city, to a place he could find some elves. A place called "The Vale".

RoleChapter 3 The "Virus" and his motivations Added Mon Sep 17 05:38:52 2007 at level 1:Vhergruhl believes that during the battle that destroyed the drow house he was working for, he was infected with a magical virus that will eventually kill him. He believes this because the last thing he remembers was charging two dark-elven mages who were whispering in some strange language, before the room around him exploded into flame and his organs spasmed inside of his body. Then the traumatic hallucinations he suffered when he awoke/staggered to freedom only made him think it was the onset of the virus (it was actually the bloodloss and injuries causing those hallucinations). He now loathes mages and their ilk, and despises most dark-elfs(except a warrior that will wield spears and maces with equal grace, like the Weapon Master he once bled for) in general. He also harbors hatred for many of his own kind because of his own clans history. He, like all duergar, hates dwarves yet secretly envies them. Vhergruhl is unlike most duergar in that he finds himself inexplictly attracted to elf males. Vhergruhl blames this as one of the foul curses his virus has inflicted on him, but he's always been a little weird, so who knows.
The symptoms of the "Virus" that afflicts Vhergruhl are actually his own madness due to his horrific injuries and upbringing. Sure, he exhibits the symptoms of modern Sciences Tourettes Syndrome and autism, but he is sharp, crafty and very very dangerous (I hope!!!!) when he has his wits about himself. The long years of battle/torture have honed him to shrug off the effects of many injuries that would normally cripple men, though not due to any teachings, just due to his fierce spirit.
Vhergruhl does have a very high estimation of himself as a warrior, Virus or no Virus, that is not always as high as his ability.
The last thing to know about him is that he will be almost as unpredictable as you can possibly be. There will always be new 'affects' of the "Virus" that will flesh themselves out as he ages.

RoleChapter 4 Brief Backstory Added Mon Sep 17 05:32:24 2007 at level 1:Vhergruhl of the Black Heart came from some barbaric duergar clan fleeing from the deep, dank areas of Yzekon. Somehow tainted by their association with the Black Serpent, the clan found itself outcasts amoung even their own kind. Vhergruhl was born then orphaned in a short amount of time, and in his youth he was sold to the Slavemasters of Teth Azleth. It was there he was instilled with a martial outlook on life, as his duties as a slave were as a toy of the House Weapon Master for drilling his sons. Every day he would be bested in battle, his life's blood seaping out in front of his eyes, only to be healed of his wounds the next morning, in time for another demonstration. Never besting the Weapon Master for he was able to only wield a small sharpened bone of the femur of some lizard, but severly pressing him sometimes with careful hit and run tactics. Through these long years the duergar honed his skills, so much so that he eventually was freed of his servitude. His time amoung the drow, as hateful as he was towards them, suited him, and the House Weapon Master saw that. They became great friends, Vhergruhl eventually becoming a mercenary in the employ of the House (at sub-standard wages, but Qaledus ain't around that much anymore), and proceded to help the Weapon Master lead the House upward in the ladder of drow society.
Eventually, the House was destroyed, and Vhergruhl one of the few survivors. Gravely wounded in the battle, he escaped into the Underdark alone. Fighting for his life, he crawled when his legs failed him, and pulled himself hand over hand when his body was too weak. He eventually made it to a strange, arctic environment, the chilled winds keeping his wounds from atrophing more. It was there he was found by a Priest of the Viper, who took pity on the duergar. He lead him back to a cabin, where he watched over his wounds and applied what little aid he could, for the Priest sensed something. He would not ask his Lord to aid this foul duergar creature he had found, for he was unlike any duergar the priest had ever seen.
When Vhergruhl awoke, he was alone. Disorientated, he began to walk north as he left the cabin, stumbling through the frigid wastes, the mountain forests, the crossroads. He made his way to Galadon, and in his madness (for you see, he was so wounded he should have died and his brain was damaged) began looking for a place where he could start anew, and find those that had done this to him.
