Gengki the Vanquisher of Adversaries

Role

Chapter 1

A jolt of a thousand storms filled Gengki's body. His hair razed, burned to a
crisp. His entire body convulsed with life, a life that has never existed
within him before.

"You betrayed our agreement son. You will now be thrown from the spire and
mocked throughout the lands." she said.

Baffled, Genki inquires "What, who are you? Where am I? Who are these
people?"

"It is not safe here. You will soon be hunted by the law which you served.
Again, I shall tell you everything but not here"

One of the men picked up Gengki and threw him over his shoulder. They ran as
fast as they could to Udgaard and rest below on the docks.

"Get in the boat, we do not have much time!" she says hastily.

The five of them jump into the boat and float down the underground river, in
hopes of eluding any followers.

"Your name is Genki Scarfist. I am your mother. A spell was placed upon you
by your father so that he might retrieve information of the workings of the
spire. I was his accomplice, but once you betrayed the spire and broke their
laws I knew they would seek your head, if nothing else. As soon as they
banish you from their confines they will hunt you as any other criminal. I
don't know how much information you have given to your father, but whatever
you have is more than enough for him to prepare his attack against Galadon.
You grew up in the city below with your father. He taught you how to use
those daggers so that you may appear worthy of the spire. I made you do
this."

Her head falls into her hands as she weeps uncontrollably.

Genki, confused and astonished at what he has heard stands up and demands
"Why do I not remember this?"

"The spell that was placed upon you, it controlled your mind. He controlled
you Gengki. The only way to break the spell was for you to die. I had to do
it Gengki. I had to. I couldn't allow this to happen to my only child. I love
you son. You have to run! I have arranged a place within the wastelands to
the south. They will feed you and give you shelter. You cannot go to the
cities again, Gengki. They will kill you."

They eventually paddled their way back to the docks and Gengki ran towards
the wastelands.

He then stopped, as if a thousand bricks were on his back he was held stiff
in his tracks.

"Why would I run? If I have caused this great power to gain knowledge of the
workings, then why wouldn't I help to prevent it? Why would I run?" he thinks
to himself.

"Perhaps they will understand what happened and see to it that I assist them
in undoing what I have done." He mumbles while turning towards Galadon.

Role

Chapter 2

Torn from his bed, Genki thrusts his hips in an attempt to free himself.
Three men carried Genki to the fountain in town. They held him firm, grasps
like those of giants, and submerged his head within the water.

Screams echo throughout the walls of the city. Genki can make out parts of
what is being said.

"Gengki...told...do....

Love

Goodbye"

He rips his head from under the water and screams.

"Mother! Why?"

She stares back at him, and without hesitation she motions the men again.

The will to live within Gengki no longer survives, he let his body limp,
lifeless and breathes in what seems to be an ocean of water.

Role

Chapter 3

Gengki awakens to a spoon pressed against his lips. As quickly as it were
filled, Gengki sucked the contents from the spoon, over and over again he
drank the soup. He dozed off and regained consciousness several times before
awakening slightly refreshed, enough so to speak.

"Who are you?!" He attempts to yell. "Where am I?" Seemingly oblivious to the
passed six days he speaks. More and more questions go without answers. He
finally passes back out and sleeps throughout the days and into the night.

He's woken by whispers in his ear. "We must go, we must go now."

"Not before you answer my questions." he mumbles, half awake.

"Your answers will come with time, this I promise you. For now we must go."
No sooner than they finished what they were saying an axe flew through the
window and nearly took off Genki's ear. They dove out the back door and ran
out of the city. "You must protect me if you wish to have your answers." they
say trembling.

Gengki rips his dagger from its holster on his hip and charges the bandits.
With each slice, each stab, a screeching echoes throughout the land.
Unscathed, Gengki returns.

"They have fallen, where are my answers?" he says while ramming his dagger
back into its holster.

"I have arranged a job for you, our agreement was to protect me. You will
learn the ways of these laws so you may protect me. When the time comes I
will answer your questions." they say.

"What is stopping me from walking away, leaving, and finding these answers on
my own?" Gengki says as he turns around.

"Because deep inside, you know the answers and don't admit it." they say
while letting out a deep sigh. "I have informed the provost of your coming,
go slay anything within your path to prove you are worthy. Return to me and I
will tell you where he can be found. Then your answers will come."
They return their grim face and walk off into the dark.

Role

Chapter 4

One of the drow smash open Genki's door and grab him. "You are to meet your
maker" he says as he grabs Gengki by his wrist. He drags him throughout the
city, passed the school and to the home of his father.

"Go forth and flourish. You have been trained to defend yourself if the time
comes that you need to do so, you will be safe. Your mother lives on the
northern side of Voralian, go see her and she shall provide you with shelter
and food. Then make of yourself as you wish." his father says as he stands
and bows.

Gengki runs as fast as he can out of the city, through the sewers and into
Galadon. He stops every person he can and asks how to get to Voralian. A man
wearing an apron says "A days walk to the northeast, you'll see the signs"
and he returns to chopping his meats.

Six days go by, Gengki is nearly starving, dying of thirst as he stumbles
into Voralian. He falls down and passes out in the middle of the sqaure.

Role

Chapter 5

Gengki notices a rat race into his room with a piece of parchment upon his
back, tied with a string. Gengki removes the parchment and reads it through
at least ten times and bursts into tears. His tears fall from his face like a
waterfall, drenching the parchment. Ink flows from the parchment unto the
ground, creating a pool of black haste, symbolic of Gengki's life. Gengki
quickly grabs his school books and rips a page from the book, he scribes upon
the parchment:

"Mother, I fear that they will release me soon. My days of true consciousness
are limited. I remember pieces of school and not much more. I have grown to
be strong Mother. I fear what will come, I truly do mother. They told me I
would meet my true father soon and it scares me mother. Take this opportunity
to do as you can as I fear this will be my last missive to return. I have
also tied a pouch of coins to the rat. I love you mother"

Gengki's pen slips from his hand and falls upon the ground, the echo of the
pen startles the rat which promptly runs off. Gengki lies in his bed,
parchment in hand, re-reading over what he wrote to his mother.
