Vargraye Waterbird the Lord of Nature, Watermarked
DescriptionYou catch a glimpse of a wild looking Elf covered in mud and matted foliage. He moves ethereally with the natural grace and confidence of a lithe and beautiful animal. Dried clay and caked dirt are soiled into his variegated armors, and have a smell of fresh woods. Curly amber hair cascades from underneath his headgear, reminding you of a mane of a young lion who is attentively gazing about his surroundings. The young Elf's face is dirty, making it difficult to discern many of his facial features. Apart from the otherwise characterless face, charmingly spirited blue eyes vehemently blaze through the wisps of his hair. Also noticeable is a pendant of a purple flower strung loosely around his neck, and drapes over his heart. Glistening from his right wrist is a beautifully worked tattoo of a Purple Lotus.

RoleChapter 1 Once Human Reborn Added Tue Dec 5 00:34:13 2006 at level 1:Vargraye, the once young human boy, awoke to the sun beaming high over his head. He looked around himself and he had no idea where he was--a sandy beach with an overgrown forest behind him. He had no idea where he was, or how he got here, but it all seemed vaguely familiar, like deja vu. The thought "will of the Purple Lotus" kept ringing through his mind, over and over. Vargraye stumbled his way into the jungle, a bit uneasy at the moment. He came to a small pond and knelt down before it. He began to dip his cupped hands into and miraculously, without even putting his hands into the water, his cupped hands were filled full with water. Vargraye jumped back in disbelief, wondering what the hell just happened.
As Vargraye jumped back, he glanced up and saw a cloaked figure sitting across the pond. "Do not be frightened, young Vargraye." a woman's voice called out softly. "Come, sit with me, and meditate a moment. There is much for you to learn." Vargraye strangely obliged. He sat down next to the hooded woman and tranquil. He felt as though he were dreaming. As he continued looking deep into the waters, a small, acquatic purple flower began to spring up. "Look to the Purple Lotus, and you will find your answers." the woman spoke softly. Vargraye glanced back up and the woman was gone... vanished into thin air. Vargraye contemplatively peered back into the water...

RoleChapter 2 Empathetic Hunter Learns Added Tue Dec 5 00:31:24 2006 at level 1:He stepped into the jungle with a makeshift spear in hand and a strong determination in the other. Vargraye was very hungry by dusk. The fire was ready. Creeping through the woods with the skill of an unexpected expert, Vargraye found his target chewing bark from a tree. A young deer full of vigor. Vargraye could feel it. Silently, he crept up to the deer, and with a flash of speed and accuracy, he drove the spear directly into the side of creature. It was hurt. It could barely move. Vargraye crumbled under the pain he felt, falling to his knees. He crawled quickly towards the deer and knelt over the wound. His hands became warm, and almost involuntarily went over the pain. With a sudden glow, there was nothing but soothing clarity. The deer jumped up and bolted into the deep wood.
Stunned, Vargraye sat in disbelief. A quiet rustling behind him startled his attention. It grew louder. Vargraye got low in a defensive stance. It was as though he'd been in this jungle for years. But in truth, it was only a day. He couldn't remember anything. The rustling stopped not far from him. It was close, whatever it was. A voice rang out. Where was it coming from? Could it really be this tree? It appeared to be a treant. "You have been saved, aspirant Druid. The will of the Purple Lotus, through my hand, has saved you this day, and washed away the pains of your troublesome past." The old oak treant seemed wise... wise enough to keep young Vargraye interested. Suddenly, a voice that sounded similar to his mother's rang out, "Son, to wash away the memories of your past, to ease your burden along the journey set before you, you will be reborn." Vargraye's head began to hurt and swell, and shortly after, he collapsed to the ground, seeming lifeless.

RoleChapter 3 Lost Shore Awakening Added Tue Dec 5 00:29:39 2006 at level 1:Vargraye shot up from the sandy shore coughing up a mouthful of water. The water of the cool ocean tide came up towards Vargraye, splashing against him. He was very cold, lips blue and shivering. He crossed his arms and placed his hands in his armpits and curled his legs in tightly, and glanced around himself. Nothing looked remotely familiar. The sandy beach stretched on for as far as the eye could see, and not far off behind him was the thick of the jungle, which too seemed to go on as far as the eye could see. Vargraye stood up, despite his reluctance, and walked further to the tree line. It was clearly morning. He knew once the sun was overhead that he'd warm up. He just sat there curled tightly until he warmed up.
As the sun became warmer, Vargraye started to think more clearly. He had no idea where he was, or how he got to where he was. But he did know that if he didn't build some sort of shelter for himself or gather food and water, that he wouldn't survive long on what appeared to be a very secluded island. So he began his trek into the woods to start gathering decent sized branches to make the shell of his wigwam. Then he collected fallen bark and branches with leaves still upon them for the outer shell of the wigwam. Survival skills seemed to come naturally to Vargraye, especially in the time of need. Each crew member was taught the basics of survival, in such an event they became stranded. After building a small hut for himself, Vargraye started collecting dry wood and leaves to start a fire to keep warm and to cook food, as this was what he was taught.

RoleChapter 4 Perfect Sail Awry Added Tue Dec 5 00:29:06 2006 at level 1:Vargraye's father stood at the edge of the dock and peered out towards the setting sun over the Sea of Despair. He gazed deeply, then turned back towards Vargraye, a bottle of liquor in hand, and he nodded towards him. "It'll be a perfect day tomorrow. Get some sleep tonight, you're going to need it. I expect many catches." The two arose a couple hours before the rising sun and walked to the docks where "Ironside Shark" was anchored. The rest of the crew was already there and working busily under the torch lamps. They worked smoothly together. Each was focused with determination. Vargraye could feel their anticipation, which was not very usual. Before too long, the crew was reporting to Vargraye's father that the ship was ready for sail.
It was true. The crew had set a new record, catching five sharks in one day. Each crew member celebrated gleefully. Their hard work had payed off, and they knew they were going to get paid well for these sharks. They turned sail towards home, as they were all exhausted and had started drinking and relaxing. Vargraye's father began shouting, "Don't get too relaxed! I have another!". And the tipsy crew members obliged and began helping lure in the last shark of the day, cheering and spouting out mindless curse words. At that moment, Vargraye stood up, submitting himself to the anger he felt towards the ruthless hunters. As if by Vargraye's will, the ship began shudder and sway, becoming worse as Vargraye's anger grew more prominently. A violent tsunami came crashing down upon the ship! And again! Heavy winds and waves tormented the ship, eventually capsizing "Ironside Shark". Cries from the men drowning and fighting their way against the waves nagged gently at Vargraye's resolve.

#13137, "Vargraye's Role Chapter 5"
|
RoleChapter 5 Search And Destroy Added Tue Dec 5 00:26:50 2006 at level 1:Illegal name, try another. Name: l business of shark hunting and fishing. Many years before Vargraye was born, the family purchased an old pirate warship, and named it "Ironside Shark". The ship's name is derived from the materials used to make the hull, being a blend of iron and flexible wood, to prevent the ship's sinking when rammed by a pirate ship. Aboard this ship was a fourteen man crew. That was the bare minimum it required to ensure all the duties were done correctly. Vargraye did not start sailing with his father until he was a teenager. Prior to that, he would do many dock work chores.
After weeks and months of sailing with the crew, hunting and killing these animals, Vargraye became disgruntled with the death. He would not dare voice his opinion, as to spare himself the beatings. But it was evident in his facial expressions that he didn't care for it. As though it weren't bad enough that Vargraye already hated his father, now he thought he was a murderer of innocent animals. Though to his father, it was a means of carrying on the familial tradition and making a living. Or perhaps a way to support his drinking. Vargraye was still young, and fairly naive. He didn't fully understand the scope of life and death.
