Jangadar the Master of Stealth
DescriptionHere stands a young, scruffy looking human male. Or, rather, here slouches a young, scruffy looking human male. Stand is perhaps too generous a term. He's fairly short by human standards, though not so much as to be considered diminuitive. Similar to his stature, the man's hair is also cut short, and seems to have been groomed by either a blind barber or the man himself, clearly without the benefit of a mirror. He doesn't exactly have a beard, but clearly hasn't shaven in at least a week. Oddly, his clothes are of an extremely high quality, albeit wrinkled. Noticing your appraisal at last, the left corner of his mouth curls into a crooked grin.

RoleChapter 1 psyche Added Tue Jun 6 21:17:51 2006 at level 4:Jangadar is a selfish, greedy, disloyal, manipulative miscreant. And he fancies himself quite the snappy dresser! Ever the petty thug, his chief goals in life are to increase his stature within the guild and acquire material wealth. Though, he also enjoys knocking down a peg those he dislikes, or whom he perceives to disapprove of him, his underlings, his character, general life philosophy, or anything else against which one could take offense. Jangadar has no qualms whatsoever about breaking the law or betraying anyone and anything, however, he also possesses an extraordinarily strong sense of self-preservation. As such, he's not likely to undertake unnecessarily risky endeavors that have a high (or even moderate) likelihood of bringing about his demise. While high (or even moderate) chance of resulting in his demise. While he retains a strong sense of internal pride (read: vanity), he's not averse to debasing himself in order to reach his goals.

RoleChapter 2 background Added Tue Jun 6 20:31:35 2006 at level 4:Jangadar was born on the seedy side of Galadon, to parents who were rarely around, and not particularly involved in his life even when they were. Since could not afford to send him to school or hire a tutor, he spent much of his time on the street, gradually becoming accustomed to the criminal life he now embraces. Conscripted into the local gang, Jangadar learned some lessons early on. For instance, he learned that it's usually more expedient to steal something than it is to buy it. He learned that only ways to earn respect are through power and manipulation. And, he learned that he was quite adept at both.
His ascendance to the leadership of this little band of miscreants was not meteoric, but it was quick, and it was definitive. With the skill of a diplomat he ingratiated himself to the former leader, earning his trust (insofar as he trusted anyone) time and time again. Then, when the moment was ripe, one slice across the neck was all it took to take the position for his own. And rule he did. Under his guidance, the rag-tag bunch of street urchins became more efficient (and quite a bit more vicious) than they had ever been before. So much so, that they began to draw the curious attention of the Galadon thieve's guild. That's when the trouble started.
It was a routine con; one he'd pulled more times than he could count, and one with which he and his accomplice were both intimately familiar. It came as no small surprise to Jangadar, then, when everything went so absolutely wonky. The merchant happened to notice the knife in his belt, the city guards happened by at exactly the wrong time, his partner, whose job it was to produce for the merchant a simple piece of fruit, drew the object from his shirt only to have it crumble before his eyes, an obvious fake. So it was, then, that Jangadar found himself fleeing for his life down a random alley, the city guard close on his heels ... when everything went black.
When he awoke, the first thing he noticed was the splitting pain in his head. The second thing was the lifeless body of his accomplice, splayed out before him on the floor. The third, to his dismay, were the ropes bound impossibly tightly around his hands and feet. Then a voice spoke. Though he could not see who was doing the speaking, it was clear that the voice belonged to someone in charge, and who was responsible for both the impossible events that led to his bothed con, as well as the unfortuante corpse that now lay before him. The voice made a statement, then an offer. "We don't enjoy competition. Join us, or not. Your partner here ... he chose poorly." When put that way, what's a guy to do? Thus began Jangadar's instruction in the Galadon thieve's guild.
