Chapter 1

"The temerity my brethrens astounds me! To think that there is only
one path to restitution and purity. Their imaginations are flawed to
the point where they have none." -Direct quote as Eloren left the
citadel.

A strange sense of disatisfaction crosses Eloren's mind. Everpresent
in its constant force of passion and imagination, this sense often
controlled Eloren's actions and words. Others of her clan thought it
was because of a yearning to fly free, like they did before they were
punished to servitude. In part, this is true. Unbeknownst to her clan
and even to herself, this spark was a beginning that led her to the
dark recesses of her mind. And there awaited a sinister insanity.

Eloren Everclear is the only daughter to the rulers of the first
clan of arials ever created. Ancient and powerful, they were failed
experiments, as they were imbued with an over zealous sense of worship
and passion. The need to serve throbbed in their minds until they
became little more than automatons. One might think that such resilient
warriors would be the perfect soldiers. They were unheeding of their
own desires, and ignorant of self sacrifice to a fault. As a result,
when the Thera settled down, the Everclear clan was given the task to
guard the portals to Thera until the prophecy came true.

No one, besides the elders of the clan, knew what the prophecy entailed.
Speculations indicated that since the noble clan of Everclear were the
guardians, the prophecy would bring about a new age of glory and peace.
No one suspected that the prophecy was actually that of the Scions,
and that the Everclears would be the first line of defense.

Time passed, and the young became old, the old became young, and the
cycle of life continued. The once mighty warriors, sworn archangels and
avengers of purity, became swayed by the greed and corruption that
overtook Thera. Like any society, bickering and jealousy proved to be
the undoing of the clan, and their historians recorded times where
civil wars threatened the very fabric of their existance. Yet, whenever
their was a conflict, a child was born, always to the direct line of
the original elders, who uncovered the truth of their duty and resolved
most conflicts.

Eloren is one of those childs. Unlike others of her clan, she was born
with a distinct dichotomy of black and white wings. Even through her
differences, the prestige of being born to the family of the original
elders brought hope and respect, however false. She was trained as the
others, taught well in the use of weapons and combat. Unlike others,
she was also taught the original prophecy. Unfortunately, she was
bedazzled by the new innovations and aspects of the prophecy, and
resolved to learn more. She desired something besides the repetition
of life: she desired change.

Thus came to fall Eloren Everclear, and Eloren the Fallen rose in her
stead. Driven mad by her obsession, she was branded an outcast after
being caught practicing forbidden magic, and flung from the citadel of
her clan. She did not care, for she had found that the Scions truly do
exist in Thera, and her ambition to be rid of the same repetition of
life burned strongly in her mind. To this day, it still burns, and
never has she looked back into her fall.

The question arises: were the Everclears supposed to defend against the prophecy, or bring about its completion?
