My assumptions: 1) Parrying only improves on actual successful parries (i.e. not "learn from mistakes" for parry). 2) Parrying against weapons you do not know results in less successful parrying. 3) The shield block check is after the parry check, and does not care (more or less, for our purposes) which weapon type it is blocking.
Is that apt?
Conclusion: If healer was fighting against a mob who is using a weapon he doesn't know, the attacks are hitting his successful shield block more than any successful parry. Hence, the improving on shield block, while parry gets little work out, so to speak.
Oh, and I'm not advocating any bug, just trying to shed some light. Unless I'm wrong and RNG is going haywire .
