Before the ominous black gates of the keep
A rickety wooden bridge crosses a deep chasm that surrounds the keep.
The black, stone walls of the keep reach towards the dark skies that
pervade Barovia. A large spiked iron porticulus guards the entrance to
the keep. High atop the walls you can see gargoyles perched upon each
of the battlements in their silent watch over the gates of the keep.
A rutted dirt road winds down through the mountain passes towards the
forest below.

The first floor of the keep
The entire first floor of the keep has been left in ruins. Piles of
rubble and rotted, broken furniture are strewn everywhere. In the thick
layer of dust pawprints of wolves, scuffs and scrapes from skeletons,
and the footprints of rotting zombies can be seen. The rampant neglect
continues to the east, west and south. To the north a porticulus leads
out of this dreary keep.

The gods protect you from a skeleton.

The first floor of the keep
The entire first floor of the keep has been left in ruins. Piles of
rubble and rotted, broken furniture are strewn everywhere. In the thick
layer of dust pawprints of wolves, scuffs and scrapes from skeletons,
and the footprints of rotting zombies can be seen. Along the walls
can be seen the portraits of the Von Zarovich family, the rulers of
Barovia for centuries past. The rampant neglect continues to the east,
west and south.


Bones from a human corpse are piled here.
You step back into three dimensions.
You parry a skeleton's chop.
A skeleton maims you!
A skeleton is in perfect health.

I see two issues here:

1. Why skeletons can get one out of duo?
2. If this is by design (*frown*) then why did i see "The gods protect you from a skeleton." first time?

Because the area writer made them.

That I don't know. They should always pull you out.
