When an arial using their inherent power of flight is earthbound, the physical malady 'flight' remains on their affect list, although the arial does, indeed, cease to fly. Even after earthbind wears off, the arial is not flying, although his affect list claims he is - he can be tripped, needs a boat to cross water, etc - and he has to land and take off before he starts actually flying again.
