I successfully casted forget on a catoblepas and it was still able to attempt to gaze at me. This might also apply to other new form abilities.

It wasn't because it was a new form, but rather because the ability is 'gaze'. Gaze is also a look command, thus it bypassed the check forget uses, which is super early, completely.
