So what is the issue here?

If grenades to not give the wrong message, then they give the right message? Is that bad?

Expected: The gods protect Gwildaththea from harm.
Actual: Your target does not seem to be within your grasp.

The current message makes it sound like the person/object is not in your possession or in the room with you.

I'm not sure why the designers opted for that language, but it was intentional. I'm not inclined to change it if only because you know the character is out of PK by other means.
