A Large Crossroads
Constructed of great slabs of closely fitted stone, the Eastern Road
intersects two decidedly different roads here. To the north is a shady
lane that slopes slightly upwards as it transforms itself into Bramblefield
Road. Constructed of a multitude of flat stones, the wide road to the
south runs through a sparse forest of twisted and stunted trees. Both
the western and eastern segments run straight as a bow shot towards the
horizon, dividing the dwarf forest to the south from the cultivated fields
and pastures to the north. A few wagons and carts are visible in a dusty
clearing just off the road to the southwest.

An aura of cold fills this area, dropping the temperature below freezing.

A rounded bottle of spiced wine has been left here.
A sign points north towards Voralian City and south to the Dwarven Forest.
Sunk into the center of the crossroads is a worn, steel marker.
(Hide) Ghaski the arial is here.

It is hard to imagine anything more filthy than the
apparent moving pile of garbage mixed with feathers
that stinks before you.

Two beady all black eye's peer about suspiciously at
everything around it sparing a momentary glance at
you before returning to keeping watch.

Thin to the point of being near skeletal and
with features pock-marked and covered in
boils and scabs the only word that could
fit such a downright unwholesome looking
being is - ghastly.

A thin tongue licks around a cracked
beak which is his most prominent feature.
His beak stretch wide and is long bearing
a uneven crack down one side giving his
beak the appearnace of a saw.

He shifts uncomfortably and scratches his crotch
seemingly nervous of your gaze upon him. The last
thing you notice about this ghastly arial is
Ghaski, a male arial, is in perfect health.

Making it wilderness, so the ranger can see the thief.

I assume you're a ranger, so how can you see hidden in civilized areas?

Not sure what you think is wierd. You don't get to camo there because it's civilized, but the thief can hide there.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!

Maybe the question is why he can see a thief hiding there then?

1. Any cold room is considered your hometerrain as a mountaineer, up to and including conglaciated civilized rooms.

2. Camouflage checks if the room is civilized, not if the room is your hometerrain. Wilderness familiarity likely does the same thing. The skills that work best in your hometerrain (with exceptions of creep, camouflage and possibly ambush for reasons other than caverndweller) usually come from your terrain skillset and sometimes are clearly labelled in your expertise skillset, savage blow for instance.

3. Since any cold room is your home terrain, acute vision is probably checking that it's your hometerrain to determine who you can see inside it (you can see invis in your hometerrain with acute vision). Thus you can see hidden people in there. This might not work the same for plainsrunners but it's probably what's causing the 'bug'.

Personally I think it's better just to leave it as is, an undocumented perk much like Maelstrom seeing blind people. Since you need an invoker to conglaciate a room to do it and they aren't a dime a dozen and a mountaineer ranger still is not going to kill a thief in a civilized room unless the thief is ganged or an idiot, it's not a big deal.
