You batter Someone with the Something, forcing him off balance. Your battering strike DISMEMBERS Someone! You can't learn the nuances of batter since you are immune to Someone's attack! Someone is covered in bleeding wounds.
Is it intended to not be able to learn when you are immune or when they are? I always thought it was when they were immune.

This imo seems like a bad idea, as this means anyone with invoker shields who happens to fight someone with a weapon they are immune to can not learn any skills or spells during their fights. Also the help file needs updated if this is true because it says only if your using a weapon you don't know or your opponent is immune to your attacks.

You seem to think this is an unwanted consequence of skill improvement working this way, when the situation you describe is exactly why this part of skill improvement works that way.
