help thief grapple THIEF GRAPPLE Syntax: grapple <victim>
A thief who has no weapon wielded can attempt to wrestle an opponent's weapon away from them. This leaves them open to attack, but when successful, the thief disarms the opponent and immediately wields the weapon.
The Great Stone Circle
A stout svirfneblin captain stands here barking orders to the guards around him. A small gray-haired child runs rampant here. A svirfneblin woman scans the crowd for her child.

Works in combat but not as the helpfile says to start combat.

Nowhere in the help file does it state that you can use it to start combat. So long, and thanks for all the fish!

That can be used on a non-fighting target and triggers a grapple opening move if your hands are empty.
That works just fine though.

The Syntax: grapple <victim> suggests that it can be used to start combat or can be used to target a different victim than the one you are currently targeting.
Syntax: grapple would fit with the helpfile better.
That said, I would prefer to see it being able to start combat.
