The roughly cylindrically shaped tunnel stretches on into darkness to
the east. It also looks as though you can swim further up from here.
The water around is still and unusually cold, as though nothing living,
or at least nothing warm-blooded has been this way in a very long time.

Besides the decimate and devestate he was hitting me mauls as well, and the other thing to note is that there was no "unretract" echo when I fled, or when I unretract without being in combat.
Other details, this is with Haste, Hide of the walrus, Stone Skin and Aura in affects.
