You might remember dying to these things because you're a top-tier player and you're not dying very often. (I'm not saying there's no need for eventual action there, but there are other instances that are glaring.)

The #1 killer over the last 12 months was the rabid beast in the Academy, with a comfortable lead over his nearest competition (Tarus). We did a small tweak there, though we might need to go further. (e.g., The root problem may be newbies entering the Academy cavern before practicing in their guild.) The elf mage in Aldevari was a top-ten killer, largely because of Cyclone, so we made a tweak there that still preserves the "I'm fighting a mage!" experience. Etc. The prolific killers tend to be NPCs that will rarely kill a player like you.

(Except Tarus. He's just a hard-working businessman, minding his own affairs, constantly being forced to put on his kicking boots and make someone rage delete amid Immortal laughter.)

I think it would be great if mobs remembered who they were after through a quit, for maybe an hour rl time, and then returned to their usual spot.

Yanoreth implemented something like this roughly a decade ago, and scanning the logs it happens fairly regularly. We might tweak it, but you're just having bad luck in finding them in the interim.
