Not really. As Narissa, I was empowered even though I followed after Jazur S'isera, who is a 'dead' goddess. If you have a good role and playability, the Imm who decided to empower you will take into account of your role and the implications of a removed god.
You can always spice your role as to what you think happened to your god, even though in OOC he may be gone. Be creative.
