A massive giant stands here, surveying the surrounding terrain and eyeing
the dark lands about the village.  Locks of brown hair are whipped about his
face by the chill night winds.  His forearms are tensed and the soft moon's
light illuminates his dark skin giving him the rugged appearance of one that
has seen few days of absent warfare.  His eyes are unrecognizable beneath the
dark shadows of the night, yet you can hear him sniff the air, as if seeking
the scent of arcane objects. The giant wears a large elk fur about his
shoulders, bearing no clothing other then the loincloth about his waist.  His
body is covered in battle scars, giving you the impression that he has proved
his prowess many times over.  He stands with his chest proudly before him, as
if his body is poised in proper fashion to give his life for the village.

Before a Fortified Hillock 
  A large mound of earth has been pushed up here, forming a strategically
planned barrier to the village just beyond. Behind the earthen barricade
stand the gates -- heavy, massive, fortified iron gates that glow eerily
in the reflected torch-light -- and beyond them in the darkness you can
just make out the faces of the village huts. The village, like the gate,
is dark and forbidding from this distance, softened not at all by the
occasionally glimpsed lantern or fire. A chill breeze blows from the gates
to the west, bringing with it the gruff sound of barbaric voices and an
occasional burst of raucous, drunken laughter.
