Triggers don't override commands already entered. He could just as easily sac'd your weapon without them than with them. You are guessing.
Triggers that are considered bleh are the ones that cause multiple commands to cause an imbalance. Not ones that act on a single command or help you to eat food when you are hungry. Of course, there have been times where I have caused someone not watching the screen to eat all of their food by making them think they were hungry too.
